Win 10 import dialog hangs

In a new catalog, nothing in it. I try to import photos copied on HD (these have been previously imported into another catalog). Everything looks good, and I hit import. Then it just sits there until I have to interrupt him. Message is "not found photos' photos were clearly there in the import dialog box.

I use LR for years without problem. New items are cloud Win 10 and creative.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the idea Goyal. As a developer old s/w my preferred method

must just keep trying things rather than trying to get to the bottom of

things (don't have the time)

If the import was finally successful after:

(1) by removing all the old catalogs that I created during debugging.

(2) copy the images on another disk

3) go to Program Files and restart the import by double clicking on the

Exe of Lightroom.

Import came sticking out and completed. I don't know why but I'll take it.

I'm not going to disable the graphics processor, but I'll keep that my

back pocket.

So thank you once again. You can mark it resolved or what I need to do this. ?

    Hello

In recent weeks I have problems with the import LR5.6 window unable to see all the files of importation on removable card, camera, local drive or network drive. If I drag and drop files from Explorer to lightroom opens the import dialog box, but the screen import empty

License CC 64-bit of Windows 8.

Problems arose initially after update through CC, but I have since tried

    1. new catalog

    2 reinstall 5.6

    3. Uninstall and go back to 5.4

All this same problem - now reinstalled 5.6 without success and do not think it was a problem to update.

I'm not aware of any LR option that limits the types of files in the import dialog box

I'm not aware of other changes I made which changes file etc. - associations there was some automatic updates of windows.

There is no problem viewing / opening files with Explorer windows or photoshop etc and all of the images currently in my catalog are thin and editable in LR - it's just the import dialog which is empty

It does not help with workflow!

    Any ideas would be great

As in the article below, you need to update your Lightroom to the latest version and in your case, you have already done this.

    http://helpx.Adobe.com/Lightroom/KB/import-dialog-blank-Lightroom-5.html

I suggest you to reset preferences in Lightroom and then check out the same thing.

Did you update to 8.1 Win? If this is not the case, install the update 8.1 Win and try the same.

    Hope that helps!

  • Lightroom 5.0 does not automatically open the import dialog box when the inserted memory card

Lightroom 5.0 fails to detect the memory card and import dialog box open. It has always worked well in Lightroom 2, 3 and 4.  Same cards, same camera, same iMac using OSX 10.8.4. Manual import works OK, the card is detected fine.

Thank you very much, this TOTALLY WORKED for me.  Win 10, LR 5.7.1.  An inserted SD card of Nikon D7000 in the SD card reader built-in to laptop and Windows automatically started both Lightroom AND automatically went straight into LR import feature.  Perfect.

(However, if LR is already running, insert the card SD initiates not import feature, despite having turned on the required checkbox in the preferences.)  Nevertheless, it is progress!   :-)

  • Import dialog box appears not all readers

For some reason any two drives my not appear as places of import from the import dialog box. They appear in the browser on the left in the library and the develop Module. I edit on the ssd and then move it to the other drive in Lr, so it's not slow my workflow, but only a strange problem.

Someone at - he heard of this? Someone said it could be the drive letter (b), I'll change it as soon as I return to my office. Any other ideas?

    HI JMGant,

You can see the disks in the dialog import if you "choose a Source:" at the same to of the left panel? That should give you access to these drives even if they are not displayed in the Panel.

You should always use the 2015.2 or 2015.2.1 version which had the modified import dialog box. Update LR 2015.3 through the creative cloud desktop application.

  • Import dialog fails

    Hello world

My Lightroom import dialog box is a fail. When I click on the button import or go to the menu import dialog box, my lightroom freezes. After I gess 2 min. from the dialog box appears, but it is also frozen. After a total of 10 minutes the importer thaws and I can use it totally without a lag. This problem came after I tried to import a photoshop PSD file. Since then, I have almost tried everything. I reinstalled Lightroom in cloud of Creative Manager and my DVD (I bought the normal Lighroom 6 Version NOT the CC). I've updated all my disks GPU on motherboard including BIOS and so on. Also, my Windows is completely up-to-date.
    I am running Windows 8.1 x 64 on a new Intel i7 Quad Core 6700. A msi Z170A PC Mate Motherboard with 16 GB DDR4 RAM. GPU is a Radeon R9 290.

I hope you can help me with this problem thank you ;-)

  • New import dialog "simple."

The new simplified import dialog is terrible; How can we get the old one back? You have destroyed the product by doing this!

    1. hold down [CTRL] when you click on the [IMPORT] library button in the grid.

    2. in preferences/general-uncheck the box "Display screen 'Add Photos'"

Click [Select Source] top left of the screen for all locations, including a "Browse computer" option

Click on sprocket wheel top right of the screen options and the destination folder ("Select")

Everything is still there in the new style dialog box, if you're looking for, with the exception of-"Import duplicates", "Move", "Eject card after importing" and visible destination folders (but still available in the "Select" menu to "folder of Destination folders!)

  • Import dialog box does not open

I just upgraded to 5 Lightroom in Lightroom 3, and the import dialog box will not open. I can select file-> Import Photos and videos... and the menu option flashes as he was selected, but nothing else happens. Any ideas? I'm on OS X Mavericks.

I figured this out. Based on the below stack trace it seems that Lightroom has tried and failed to create the directory ~ / Movies, and that failure has stopped in the logon dialog box. In my case, ~/Movies is a symbolic link to a directory that lives on an external drive, which was set up in time. I can work around the problem is the disc with my films of editing on it or removing the symbolic link. It is not ideal (I can't quite fit on a disc, and I have other software that really wants movies ~/Movies and not anywhere else) but it works.

  • 5 Lightroom Import dialog box does not appear previews

I just installed Lightroom 5 and the import dialog box does not appear for previews of the images.  Without previews, there are no images to select for import.  It doesn't matter if they are JPG or CR2 and if I try to import from the camera card or hard drive.  Version 4.4 also failed at first, but after fiddling around, I finally got the old version to work.  Help, please!

    I use Lightroom 5, Windows 7 64 bit.

I've expanded the dialog on the right boxes and Destination Panel on the right was the problem.  As soon as I developed it, all the images in the preview window began to appear!

  • images are not in the order in the import dialog box...

use lightroom 4.3...  import photos, they are displayed in a random order in the window of IMPORT.  With previous versions of lightroom, they were always in order of file name.  It becomes much more time to select files to import into a file, if there are 2 or more jobs on a CF card (I have pictures of my kids skiing mixed with a portrait session.).  Is there a way to sort photos (by name of file, or time) before importing?  I don't know how to sort after import.

These are your options. It's down to the right of the import dialog box
