Win 7 32 bit unbootable in VMware Player

I've been running Win 7 32 bit as guest on VMware Player 3.1.3 OS and have not had any problems. The host operating system is Win 7 64 bit.

Last night, I ran the player and guest what OS would freeze to the Win Startup screen. All 4 cores in my CPU was pegged at 100% and no further progress. I have reset using the menu player Power & it froze a new start-up. I then powered through the player's menu. When I got to the top, Win prompted me to do a startup repair. II brewed for a long time, and found nothing.

I reinstalled the guest operating system and was able to start Windows 7. I installed all the updates successfully, including SP1. The next time that I restarted, I had exactly the same problem - the guest operating system wouldn't boot.

I have now done a repair/installation of VMware player & still having the same problem!

Anyone has a suggestion as to what to try next? I'm puzzled. It works great once.

From what I've read so far, it's SP1 that causes problems in the virtual machine. I would recommend not to install SP1 until there is a workaround available solution or VMware is launching a version that supports SP1 supported.

  • ESXi in vmware Player?

    Hello

I am trying to build a lab inside my workstation.  The configuration is:

(physical host) Core i5 x 64/w VT active
    -(os) Win 7 Professional x 64
-(hypervisor) VMWare Player (client, defined as "Other OS 64-bit"

    -(os/hypervisor) VMWare ESXi 5.0.0

    -(os) Win 2 K 8 R2

The Win 2 K 8 R2 will not start. The message pointed out, is that the CPU does not support 64-bit execution.

My understanding is that the above doesn't work... Is there any restriction that I can't run a 64-bit client OS inside a host of VM ESXi 64-bit? compared to a physical host of ESXi 64bits?

OK - you can't do double nested 64 bit VMs. (unless you run ESXi5 on ESXi5 on the bare metal).

  • What is the latest version of VMware Player?

    Hello

There seems to be some confusion about the latest version of VMware Player.

Please see the screenshot. The title is 'VMware Player 4.0.2', but the individual downloads are "VMware Player 4.0.1".

I downloaded the Linux version and help-> about said 4.0.1.

So, how to get the version 4.0.2?

    TIA

If you click on the link download (win version) the downloaded file is 'VMware-player - 4.0.2 - 591240.exe' and the md5sum is different from the 4.0.1 download further down the page... If Im assuming this is actually 4.0.2 and they just made a mistake on the page.

The first thing I would do is to validate the file downloaded against the MD5 checksum or SHA1 published and if it matches then clean the contents of the file folder and try to reinstall.

If you still have a question I want to manually extract the contents of the installer downloaded and then manual installation of the "vmware player.msi" file (Windows Installer Package).  Note: The .msi extension is hidden by default.

Use the following as an example of how to manually extract the files from the downloaded installer.

    VMware-player-3.1.3-324285.exe /extract c:\vmplayer.tmp

For additional command line options, run:

I have a new installation of Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit on my old Dell Optiplex GX-620 machine.

I fear that you will not be able to run all guests 64-bit with the CPU you use. As far as I know, none of the Pentium 4 processors support Intel VT - x.

  • I can't download Media Player. It will not work on Win 7 32 bit

    OT: Wwindows Media Player.

I can't download Media Player. It will not work on Win 7 32 bit

    Help

If you have a standard version of W7, WMP (12) is preloaded and ' built in '. You can not download.

If you have a ' or 'KN' version of W7 please visit - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16546 NOTE: both 32 and 64-bit, download the one for your operating system IF you have N or W7 KN.

If you have standard W7 but WMP is not displayed anywhere, see - http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/26107/how-to-reinstall-windows-media-player-in-windows-7-to-solve-problems/ and make sure its selected in respect of multimedia features. If she is already apparently turned on then go through and deselect, restart, then go through and select it again, reboot and see if that helps.

If that doesn't help, try a SFC/scannow - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833 to see if that detects and corrects something.

  • How to download and use my Win 7 Pro prior in a Virtual Machine in VMWARE PLAYER?

before 3 years, I bought a win 7 pro PC - recently, I fee install 8.1... How to download and use my prior Win 7 Pro in a Virtual Machine in VMWARE PLAYER?

Unfortunately, you must have prepared a recovery disk in advance or use the one provided with your computer.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

  • PlayBook Simulator beta (Win) v0.9.3 - cannot install in VMware Player

Hello everyone. I am fairly new to this programming PlayBook and have to face a frustrating problem. I installed the earlier version and have been more or less successful in programming.

However, with the new version, I am unable to install the Simulator in VMware Player. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, re-downloaded and re-installed, etc. and continue to have the following in the on-screen display in the last step of the installation of the virtual machine.

In the earlier version, the display shows - loading of the neutrinos... and proceeded to complete the installation.

In this version the display shows - loading installer... .and poster cd/EULA.txt in the bottom of the first screen scrolling text. I can scroll up and down and display a lot of text but nothing continues or finishes the installation of the virtual machine.

    I would like suggestions.

BTW, my system is Windows 7, 64-bit, 6 GB memory, 800 GB of disk space.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

    It is (very) difficult.

Do not press the "enter" or the arrow key down.

You should stop to support anything at all times when only a few lines of text to the left.

Then down one line at a time. Otherwise your entry extra will be interpreted as

your answer to the question who is supposed to be 'y '.

You will be successful after trying several times.
