Win 7 cannot read blank CD

Win 7 Acer laptop SP3 5253.

Recently noticed unable to drag & drop files D blank CD player with Windows Explorer. Error message States 'Windows cannot read the disk in drive D' told to format it - bit useless when cannot read the disk first!

Able to play audio discs. Have tried all the usual advice, including the detailed notice of mind X MS MVP on February 23, 2011 with exactly the same question.

Bought a standalone USB LG portable disc burner - exactly the same thing - can play audio through it, but unable to have own CD.

I guess the best answer is just forget about the issue, but I wondered if, in the course of the last three years there was no solution to the problem?

Thank you very much.

Hello Neptune,

I really apologize for the mistake that I have in my previous post. I know not what has gone wrong, while displaying the answer and I've provided the steps for Windows 8 instead of Windows 7. The steps provided are valid to perform these steps were for Windows 8 therefore you could perform these steps. Shortcut keys that I proposed are frequently used in Windows 8. I think that while preparing the answer for you, I may work on a another thread with Windows 8 and confused and you provided the steps in Windows 8.

You've been through the suggestion provided by JimMinor responded on 16 September 2011 in the tread mentioned in my previous post.

As you mentioned that after uninstalling the device you can't reinstall as you are not able to see it in Device Manager. To view it again please restart your computer and everything will be back. I have reproduced the same thing on my computer troubleshooting and after restarting the computer, everything seems to be back.

However, for troubleshooting below you can follow the steps in the following article and see if it helps.

    * Original title: cannot read blank CD

It has been a few days now, when I tried to locate some files in a backup CD, I noticed that the drive does not recognize it at all.
At first, I thought it was a hardware problem, but the DVD drive can read other CD or DVD, same blank DVDs, but refusing to read the blank CD, maybe, it was a problem of CD, I checked in my laptop CD was read normally and I could write about it with not even a problem.
After that, I tried another CD label, nothing new.
So I thought it would be an OS problem, I searched on the internet and the multiple topics that I saw that I realized that I must be in the right way, I followed a few guides, but still I couldn't solve the problem, come to the point to open my own topic.

I used Microsoft difficulty It Center and brought to action for playback of CD/DVD and writing
I also checked for files, registry Upperfilters and Lowerfilters (the record was not the same that guides (similar to a huge key) so I searched the folder that have buttons for DVD player or something like that and I didn't see them.)
I checked the updates of DVD drive drivers, but they were up to date and remove and reinstall the drivers... but still no effect.
I also check the power and sata cable if they have been damaged, just in case

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

You can use an application that scans your system for the log files and temporary files and use it to get rid of those who:

    Hello

Follow these steps to reinstall the Beats Audio interface.

Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp52501-53000/sp52658.exe

One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

When you are done, reboot the laptop and let Windows load completely.  Open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  When this has completed, restart the computer again.

  • MacBook 2016 cannot read an My Passport Slim external

    Hello everyone

My new 2016 MacBook has only a single USB - C port that connects to Western Digital My Passport Slim disk external DRIVE via a USB HooToo multiport adapter.

OS X in it just cannot read HARD drive even through it will make a sound when connected via the hub.

I first thought the HARD drive has a problem, but then when I run EaseUs Partition Recovery Disk, it does not read the partition of the HARD drive either.

The HARD drive makes too much noise.

I find having just a USB - C which acts as a power port and can be multiplied by an incredibly awkward adapter.

But first and foremost, I have to get the HARD drive to show up in OS X.

What are the best ways to make it happen?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks as always

Here is a link to another discussion indicating that others have similar problems. Two posters seem to have solved the problem by upgrading to the latest version, 10.11.5

Apple also noted that some external hard drives G Drive do not work with the adapter. Since Apple may not have tested each other drive that I wonder if there are other materials with the same problem. It seems that the issue has been the port USB - C does not provide enough power to run the command. Is the HooToo adapter connected to a power outlet? Is anything else connected to the card "multi-port".

  • How to get around a fake "cannot read itunes library.itl?

I have a Windows 7 laptop I want to back up the same on a Windows laptop 8.  Should I bring all the files on the Windows 7 laptop to Windows 8 laptop computer including my music/itunes and program/itunes files.  It has worked for years.  All of a sudden I get a message when you go to itunes on the laptop computer of Windows 8 that say 'cannot read itunes library.itl because it was created by a different version.'  This is different from the case referred to the support forum where people want to deliberately use an earlier version of itunes.  I want to use on the laptop Windows 7 and Windows 8 for the latest version of itune laptop.  To make sure that I have request for updates on two laptops from itunes and received responses that I already have the latest version installed on two laptops.  I can access itunes on the Windows 7 laptop, but not Windows Mobile, 8.  How to get around this indication false error on my laptop Windows 8?   I have the latest version and the itunes and all files have been created using the most recent version.

You have identical versions of iTunes on both machines?  The two latest updates of iTunes (12.3.3, 12.4.0) have included both updates of database for the latest library files can only be read by older versions.

How are you "Portage" your library data?  The error message may indicate a corrupt library file.

Also note that you should not try to replicate the folder iTunes program between computers - there is a high risk that the results will be unpredictable, especially since you're moving between two different editions of Windows.  There is really no need to do this - there is no data stored within the hierarchy of program files, who wanted to be replicated on several PC.
