Win XP - Office delayed after that Patch updated Tuesday

I installed 9 updates which were available on 11 February 14 for Win XP SP3, including some for dotnet and Microsoft Office.

Now when I start the wallpaper appears on 'normal' life, but there is no taskbar and no desktop icons for ~ 3-4 minutes after the wallpaper is displayed. What I see is the pointer of the mouse and paper painted.

I can open Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) duties during this time, but there is nothing hogging the CPU. System Idle is 98-99% of the time processor.

Does anyone have any idea update might be the cause of this problem? Otherwise, I'll have to do a system restore to before this latest round of updates and install all of them, one at a time. to find the one that is causing this problem.

What a pain...

I solved the problem. I ran chkdsk /f on the drive. It sets ~ 60 errors and flag of a bunch of lost file fragments.

Most of the fragments seems to be associated with dotnets who were replaced by updates this week and may be files that were not completely removed during the cleaning process.

Thanks for your help.

  • computer crashed after the automatic update Tuesday night

    Hi, Kevin

My computer crashed after the automatic update Tuesday evening. The message indicates that the demand for window vista (which initially provided with the Lenovo computer, that I bought new in 2007) is not valid. When I rebooted and you press F5, it offers 3 options 'Security Mode', but no return explicitly beforehand updated status.

I'm not familiar with uninstalling and restoring systems. Can you walk me through the process? Can I uninstall or restore when the computer is in mode security (limited capacity)? How a WAIK/Windows PE image downloaded to another computer to help me with the computer that is out?

Your suggestion to install SP2 apply to windows vista home basic version, 2007?

    Update for Windows Vista (KB2345886)

I found KB981957 to be the culprit on that I worked on a system of XP SP3.  With this update installed, I get an error C000021A Service Control Manager BSOD.  I have manually uninstalled this update by using the Recovery Console and then used Windows Update through IE and deselected this update.  All the other updates installed correctly and the system starts properly.  I would like to know why this update is causing this problem.  Anyone with the same problem?

It reminds me of a similar situation earlier this year with BSOD KB991765.  The cause of the BSOD is a virus that has infected system driver files.  Once clean, the installation worked very well.  I've done many scans on this system and have not yet found any viruses.

What I have to do is disable the adapter, turn it on, then re-boot.
If I turned off the computer, I di everything again.

This will make the button work? Or is there a setting that is always on?

    Hello

    > after a windows update, cannot use wi - fi on the front button
Do you mean the button that launches Internet Explorer?

According to your message the laptop doesn't connect to the WLan automatically and you will need to connect it manual to get the job of WLan.
    Is this right?

I put t know how you have connected the laptop to your router, but usually, if you own Windows WLan zero configuration then you should make sure that the parameters to a called + connect when this network is in range. +

    * Original title: Office Windows 7 freeze - ARGH!

My desktop freezes once I closed IE9. The taskbar works, but the icons on the desktop and right click... nothing. I read discussions on the different sites to see if there's DIY solutions that could solve this problem. I scanned with SuperSpyware, MalwareBytes, Windows Defender and Kapersky... come clean. I checked the printer drivers... seems to be out of wack, so I reinstalled only. Read somewhere that Flash is in conflict with IE9, so I reinstalled only. I rebooted in safe mode... scanned and cleaned... nothing.

I made a copy of my task under process Manager window (see below), I have 2 lines of IE... this cause a desktop would freeze problem?
