Win7 Pro upgrade will affect functions?

Hello again!

Thus, this thing comes with Win7 Starter.  I have 2 licenses for Win7 Pro.

1. can I use Windows anytime upgrade on this since Lenove has something custom on that?

2. If Yes, what will be the impact of the upgrade be?  Advantages or disadvantages for the features of the Tablet?

Thank you

DAVE

You can switch to any version above the Win 7 Starter and everything Lenovo added will be there. I've upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate and the upgrade, you will get the features of the Tablet you will not get in the Starter edition. Also in the Starter. can't remember, but was sure that you get not only the unique touch features multi-touch features. To update just go system then click on upgrade Express. Then just follow the steps and then it will ask you to put your product key and it will download and upgrade your Starter Edition. If I myself remember well it took my 3 t 20 minutes to upgrade to Ultimate edition.

Most of the older machines running XP are not compatible with the help of Windows 8.

Follow these steps before you install Windows 8.

Go to your laptop manufacturer's website and check if Windows 8 drivers are available for your make and model laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 8 does not work for you.

  • Satellite L550 PSLW8A can only get OEM Win7 Pro 32-bit to 64-bit?

    Hi all

    I am writing from Australia.

Two weeks ago, I bought a new laptop Toshiba ([http://tinyurl.com/ye6jkuq]) with the following characteristics:

    Model: Satellite L550
    Reference number: PSLW8A-01101F
    BIOS: V1.60
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P7450 2.13 GHz
    RAM: 4 GB
    HARD DRIVE: 500 GB
OS: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (OEM preinstalled)

    My question:
    How can I switch to Win7 Pro * 32 - bit * for Win7 Pro * 64 - bit *?

If I use the recovery disk (the hidden recovery partition) utility to do a clean reinstallation of Win7 Pro, I will give the choice during the process of resettlement of the installation either the 32-bit version or 64-bit?

Or I have + not + get the choice at all and simply be limited to the OEM Win7 Pro 32-bit that came pre-installed version?

All advice or information about how to pass OEM Win7 Pro 32-bit to Win7 Pro 64-bit would be appreciated.

    Nick

    Hello

AFAIK almost all new laptops are available with 32 and 64-bit OS and two recovery images are saved on the HARD drive.
When you start installation HARD drive you should see the option to choose which version must be installed.

Simply start the installation of HARD drive and you will see what menu you will see at the beginning. Not be afraid to do so. Nothing will happen.
Real OS installation starts two steps later. If you can not damage preinstalled OS.

    The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

    3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

  • I upgraded to win7 starter to win7 pro with a clean install

IM missing 3 drivers that the manufacturer of laptops would not give to me the notebook is an Acer ZE7 they told me that they have not recommend an upgrade to win7 pro. sounds really fishy to me I need to level 5 more portable win7 pro.

Please help me with an answer as soon as POSSIBLE

I suggest you to reinstall Windows 7 Starter and use Windows Anytime Upgrade to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional. Personally, I can't find any information on this model. Anytime Upgrade will reduce the headache. Windows 7 Starter and professionals are based on the same kernel, so the same driver will work for 3 lack of pilots. Reinstall Windows 7 Starter using the tools of recovery of manufacturers.

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Professional. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

  • A clean installation of Win7 Pro 64 Bit OS SP1 maintains the search for updates. (Error 0 x 80070005 windows update)

Hi, I recently formatted my HD and clean installed with an older version of Win7 Pro SP1 x 64 OS, I more than a week now looking online for help, but nothing is. Windows Update appears to hang "search for updates". I don't presume that my Pc is virus free because of a clean install, so I'm not sure that Microsoft stopped providing updates for older versions of windows or not. I also tried to upgrade to OS 64-bit win10 everything works fine with the installation until it reaches "search for updates" which also hangs and does not download updates, I tried Microsoft stand-alone install also but who doesn't either. I also tried running "Microsoft Genuine Diagnostics Tool" results are lower. I also tried to reset the Windows Update components by running the Fixit on the Microsoft Web site and found a windows "0x80070005" error code also known as "access denied." Something to do with registry permissions I think. A boot minimum, then run the Microsoft fixit would fix the issue im having with windows update.

  • Update Windows to Win7 Pro-wants to remove previously deleted program 10

I'm trying to upgrade to Win10 of Win7 Pro.  Update required me to remove Symantec Endpoint Protection, I did.  But several attempts to update always ask for the removal of this program, even if it no longer exists.  How to clear the checkpoint so that the update will pronounce?  Thank you.

    Jim

    Jim,

If using CleanWipe utility has not fixed this problem then I think you should contact Symantec support.

I also suggest to have a look on their user forum to see if someone else has experienced the same problem.  To do this in parallel with contact technical support because their users are likely to be more competent.

It is possible to run a clean install Windows 10 you are activating and using your Windows 7 product key.  These are the best explanations I've seen-

Clean Windows install 10 - WiKi

Clean install Windows 10 directly without having to first upgrade - Windows 10 Forums

    • Running a clean install would not suffer the current problem, but it would be more work that you would have to reinstall all your applications later.  The disc should be wiped its previous content.
    • Personally, I "fix" Windows 10 on my other computer by performing a clean installation.  This gives the best chance of an OS without problem in the future.

  • Interoperability of OEM license? Win7 Pro vs built-in Win7

Every year I buy instrumentation include a licensed OEM Windows operating system.   Regular maintenance lab at my installation implies historically harddrive cloning to create identical machines for identical seasons when new provider driver/tools are available.

Until this year, our instruments of the seller have all come with the same OEM Win7 Pro, facilities so we have followed carefully what licenses went with what instruments, but were easily able to quickly deploy updates string tool by doing a manual installation & validation process 1 x and then 'cloning' around the laboratory to wear all the benches in accordance.

The most recent instruments, we bought provider now include OEM Win7 built-in instead of "Win7 pro" our concern is that now our current model of 'cloning' will not work, because we have a pool of # win7 pro licenses and a pool of win7 # Embedded licenses.

To all the instruments of the 'same' for the sake of cloning, us (very probably via OEM Embedded Win7, because the seller cannot provide Pro licenses) us fall under the aegis of the "downgrade rights"? Or do we need to negotiate with the seller to provide a reserve of specifically OEM Win7 Embedded licenses to assign to the laboratory & retired benches our set of OEM Win7 Pro files?

Upgrade to a later version of Windows is not an option because we want to stay with provider supported OS (es).

1 you will need to check the documentation of your purchase, including any contract enabling essential at the supplier.  They have obtained licenses for Windows embedded products they sold to you.

2 they should also provide you with the image of the system that you use for cloning for the new equipment operations.

3 your Win7 Pro existing licenses will continue to apply to the equipment they were first installed on.  As each piece of equipment is retired, his license dies because the OEM licenses are not transferable.

4 upgrade is not really relevant for users of Embedded licenses because the equipment provider, as the Subscriber license & hardware developer, would have to deal with these issues.

Your Windows 7 Embedded products will continue to receive updates until 2026.

You can examine these questions using the link above.

5 you will not be able to make all your instruments, the "same".  They are different.
