WIN8 OKR backup G580

http://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/create-win-8-recovery-media-in-ThinkPad-thi...

According to the link above, I can create a backup of the recovery to an external flash drive partition. According to the manual, I can also use the OKR to create a backup of the user, who must help restore me for Windows 8, which has been updated - e.g. new drivers installed.

That's why I can do the following

1 upgrade Windows to Windows 8.1 store

2. use the OKR backup to save the new State of Win8.1 on the recovery partition

3 use the method in the link above to save the recovery partition on an external 16 GB flash drive, which should have the original 8 Win and news of 8,1

4 then restore from the external flash to Windows drive 8.1 State rather than Windows 8 such that delivered.

Sorry if this has been asked & answered before, but there are dozens of messages about partitioning and the creation of restore disks and I was able to filter the above exact process. I'm sure that many owners of Lenovo would do the same if possible.

Hi babyboomer.

Welcome to the Community Forums of Lenovo!

The above link you provided will create a recovery media for Windows 8, but here is the link from Microsoft to create the recovery in a Flash for Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 drive:

Hope this helps!

  • OKR: The restoration of EXTERNAL drive?

I have beautifully OKR working for me. However, when I choose "System Recovery", it only show up with selecting in C: or D: (partitions on the drive HARD internal only). It won't let me choose backups that she herself created on my external USB HDD (f).

How can I tell OKR to select a backup created on an external USB HDD?

    Found the solution!

    1. The first partition on the USB external drive must be an Active partition FAT32.
    2. The second partition on this external drive USB (the one that stores backups OKR) must be an NTFS partition.

Once I did, OKR identified the two partitions with no problems (in the form of readers i and J :) and has been able to see these images of OKR backup and restore from them.)

  • How to reinstall win8 on laptop?

What else do I have to activate myself install the OS on laptop?

Maybe this should be displayed in the repair section, in any case, here's my problem.

My laptop could not load once I tried to move from win8 to win8.1, he comes himself stuck in a restart loop where he claims he met error starting of win8.1, will collect information and restart; but he is never able to get back in the mode window after 8 hours. I tried press F2, F4, F8 and F10, and none is able to bring me the menu of the BIOS to boot from USB or DVD. After learning that the win8 product key has been pre-build in the BIOS, I decided to just erased the hard disk and reinstall win8 using the win8 OEM backup disk that was my friend. I took out the hard drive and quick format using a computer laptop win7 last night, put the backup in the computer samsung laptop, power, I get to the blue screen of the "recovery" with 0xc000000f error code. Press ESC, now I have access to the BIOS and disable secure boot and dvd move upward in the boot sequence... but, that's all I can do, on the existing from the BIOS, I've been to this "Reovery" screen without access to BACK DVD or USB. What else should I do to install the OS on this laptop?

I got this laptop from samsung which is preload with win8 about 1 year, but it was refurnished by bestbuy and backup/system partition was missing. I made attempts to create the backup drive using this 'win7-file recovery' option in win8, but is useless once I tried to reload and doesn't have it and can not find this copy now. I have the folder windows.old in backup before formatting and a relief win8 disc but no use right now.

Any advice will be helpful, and if I can't reinstall win8 to the end, maybe I can try to use linux, LOL

    -Jacky

If you have another count, you could do the installation media on a USB stick or something (link here). Regarding the BIOSI would try just spamming the "F1 - F12" and "Esc" keys or search how to access BIOS/UEFI.

  • How to clone disk HARD of backup/restore for ideapad with pre-installed win8 and recovery button work?

    Hi all

I recently bought a y510p ideapad. It came with pre-installed win8, and I have no recovery CD. I intend to play with linux on this laptop, but do not want to lose win8. So before I have potentially immediately reformat, I think to make a copy of clone of my HDD on an external USB drive. The general plan is like that,

    1. make a copy of mobile on external USB HARD drive

2 mud with linux - and foolishly autour reformat the entire process

    3. have fed up with linux and want to return to windows

4 copy of retrospective data from usb driver external HDD latop

5 return to the comfort of win8

With the help of this tool (clonezilla) will work in the above scenario?

    http://www.MakeUseOf.com/tag/free-advanced-hard-drive-cloning-solution-from-Clonezilla/

If not, are there any other alternatives (free if all goes well) I could use?

My intention with the backup, is that after that I have 'restore' things, "a key recovery" button should continue to work as before.

Make the plan will cause OKR is not functioning properly. To prove this to get a hard drive of exact size and make a clone of hard disk of the device. Remove the hard drive from the unit and place the disc clone hard inside. You can now play with the disk hard clone to your hearts desire but OKR first test if it still works. Even if OKR no longer work, you can proceed with the installation of linux. Once you're disgusted with Linux everything you have to do is replace the hard disk clone with the original hard drive and you're back to win with OKR 8 still works.

  • WIN8: backup program and password at startup

I have a brand new model Pavilion Sleekbook 14-b013cl running under 64-bit Windows 8. Two questions:

    (1) Win7 was a program of restoration that could create a disk image with full backup, but Win8 seems to have just a file by file backup system that excludes the files of the OS. A more capable backup program comes on this computer?

    (2) I have configured the computer to not require a password at startup, but it is still asking one. When I start I see a screen with the date and time - I have to click on it and then the machine asks me a password. How can I go directly to the home screen when I start?

    Your welcome,

I don't think that you must earn 8 Pro to save to an external drive.

I suggest opening a new thread with this question, which gives a better chance to see and to be able to give more information about the HP Experts.

  • Which card to use for the backup of Win8

Windows 8 requires a minimum of 32 GB card to use for the backup. I bought a PNY 32 GB (http://www3.pny.com/32GB-Pro-Elite-Series-Hi-Speed-SDHC-Class-10-UHS-1---35MBs-233X-P3122C442.aspx ), but it wouldn't work. Even though it says 32 GB it is actually a little less. If I buy a 32 GB SanDisk will, that I meet the same problem? Exactly what the size is a SanDisk 32 GB card? (http://www.sandisk.com/products/memory-cards/sd/standard-class4/?capacity=32GB)

    Thank you

    Ed P2

any card 32 GB will be less than 32GB after it is formatted to be used in a computer. It is a standard for all types of storage.

If you need 32 GB of actual useful storage space, you will have to get a 64 GB card.

I was informed that the version of Windows that will be restored is 8.0 and then require the upgrade again after... no problem

Unfortunately, the recovery process insists on performing a data backup in order to restore it later...

I waited for expected two hours after the two meanings, and no apparent progress had so force stop.

  • Try to create the backup OS win8 in vain...

    Hey all,.

a major issue, last night I tried to install a driver of graphics from amd on my Pavilion 15, but after that I selected the driver, the screen went black...

Once the laptop I had HP Quick start screen, then the splash screen became cold black, again, I entered the PC in safe mode and I tried to access the creation of support/HP Recovery Manager and as soon as I opened it to the top I got the message-"Please install the battery" but I plugged my laptop in charge and the battery is good. All the patches?

Note: I want to reinstall my OS after a factory reset, if not necessary so please say with easier difficulty...

    Kind regards

    Hello

Creating recovery media program requires Windows runs in normal mode works correctly, however, you should still be able to perform a 'Factory Reset' using the f11 - see the sub - heading = ' valuation when Windows 8 does not start correctly "on the following link.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03489643

Note:  You will always be able to create your recovery media set after that.

    Kind regards

My hard drive (500 GB) has three partition. I have all my important data in it.

    Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, it will save all files and programs installed on the computer.

Reference: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/what-is-a-system-image (applies to Windows 8 and 8.1)

But to be on a safer side, it is a good practice to back up files regularly.

  • Satellite C50-A-1DV - reinstall the pre-installed Win8

    Hello

A few months ago, I bought a new Toshiba laptop (Satellite C50-A-1DV, PSCG6E-08P01CEN, Win8). I tried to double win8 with Linux I needed in my study. But something went wrong and I lost the windows. I did a full backup to my system, including the windows and profiles folders just in case.
Is there anyway for me to get my 8 win using these files?

    Thanks in advance,

As far as I know that something like this is not possible. S user guides document is clearly describes how you can create a recovery (DVD or USB) media and use it in the situation if HDD recovery installation doesn t work.

  • Re: Qosmio X 870 - Win8 on a separate partition

    Hello
I have a Qosmiox870 and that means that I also have a Microsoft windows8 (OEM) product key

I have problems with conflicting devices drivers... and to grow the best way, I need to install a new fresh windows8 version on a separate partition. So on 1 windows I have 1 driver installed on the other windows of the second driver... so I just choose to start windows witch I need while I'm working.

BUT... I don't have an ISO for windows... I was just able to create 3 recovery DVD with the backup software pre-installed in Toshiba.

I can't download windows 8 from the microsoft Web site, because the product key I have is a Windows OEM,... to prevent people from abusing OEM, microsoft product only allows you to download the windows 8 ISO...

So where can I get an iso of Windows that would work with my key?

Toshiba offers notebooks with Windows preinstalled. It's not only BONE. It is the recovery image that contains the OS, drivers, tools and utilities. It is a kind of package. Preinstalled recovery image is activated and should not be enabled also.

Every laptop owner should create the installation of recovery disk with pre-installed software. On this point, the story ends there.
Toshiba does not provide any recovery by downloading image, and you can't get original recovery iso file as image. No morals and Toshiba. All you can get is original install disc of recovery, but you can create it yourself.

Your key belongs to the recovery image pre-installed so that you cannot use in case you try to install Win8 using original installation of Microsoft disk.

  • import of backup files .dat in 6.2.2 point Office Windows 8.1

I just upgraded my PC Windows 8 (BIG mistake) and he decided to delete all my PALM data files.  I thought THAT I had everything backed up, but the only files I backed up was called a "address.dat" and the new Palm (6.2.2) software is not allowing me to import that.   The 'aba' only backup file I have is from 2005 and that won't do me any good.

Anyone know how I can import the .dat file in my address book?

    Thank you!

    Mark

Hello and welcome to the HP support community!

Only way I know to import data is to install Palm Desktop 4.x on the computer you have now (delete 6.2.2 first - you can't have both installed at the same time!), to create the same account of HotSync name as before and then replace the file address.dat for Palm Desktop user with your saved version.

See if the data returns.  If so, you can export correctly in order to have an update of the aba file version.

NOTE: Palm Desktop 4.x will work on Win8 with the Aceeca drivers installed.  Quick installation is not working properly.  Version 6.2.2 adds "install the tool" which works similar to quick setup, but works fine on 64 bit systems.

  • Wireless adapters not finding Win8 network connections

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion P6 2340ea running windows 8. I use a Netgear N150 WNA1100 Wireless Network Adapter, this adapter worked fine until the other day when I connected a Bluetooth of Plugable USB BT4LE adapter into the PC. The bluetooth adapter is windows 8 compatible, but the PC does not recognize the bluetooth adapter and the LED on the bluetooth adapter did not indicate that she was supposed to. I unplugged the bluetooth adapter and that's when I realized that my Netgear adapter had stopped working. I plugged the adapter netgear on another pc and it works fine and detects / connects to the network. When plugged into the PC indicated above is present on the control panel of features though but does not detect network connections. I am aware that USB 3.0 devices can cause interference and I don't have any of these connected devices it is excluded. I have uninstalled/reinstalled drivers win8 to the Netgear adapter and this has not solved the problem, I tried other things are as follows: disable activate card, enable/disable antivirus/firewall, netsh winsock reset at the command prompt. I also checked the autoconfiguration WLAN service was running and set to automatic, which it is, then I tried stop and start the autoconfiguration WLAN service and I get the error: error 1503: service has failed to demand launch or control in a timely, I don't know if this has nothing to do with the problem?

I hope I've provided enough information and I've used up so many things to try as possible.

    Thank you.

I tried one last thing before your suggestion less. I started the PC in safe mode with networking, the device does not work immediately, I went into Device Manager and disabled and then activated the device and that he began working again, booted normal backup and everything works fine.

Thank you very much for your help, kudos given.
