  • power management Windows 8 returns to energy saving

On my new laptop with Windows 8, I implemented a plan of power according to my needs, but the computer keeps returning on setting energy saver, that turns off the screen when watching films, mitigates the light so that I work and it is really annoying. How can I stay on the power setting, I chose?

So far so good.  So, to summarize.  I had the problem of extended battery life Dell always force the Power Saver power plan on restart.  I entered the options for Dell Extended Battery Life Options and made the following:

    1. unchecked "enable Dell Extended battery life".

    2. you click on 'apply '.

    3. click on the "Settings" button... »

4 unchecked 'Change the Power Saver power plan' and click on 'OK '.

5 valve applies (even if this step is perhaps superfluous)

    6. re-checked "enable Dell extended battery life"

    7. you click 'Apply' then 'OK '.

Restarted and voila, always on my selected power plan...

The funniest on the Dells Power Saver plan is that I usually leave the laptop on open on my desktop and the thing just stays on, sucking power there all the time.  It seems to turn off the screen.  And never to Hibernate (Actuallly, I just double checked the settings - a full three hours before hibernation...) Who would think that which is energy saving? -It is half of the total autonomy when it runs)...  Can not understand how "energy saving" I would go further with a charged battery is full charge nearby when I got home, but would have an almost empty battery after 4-5 hours.  It seems also stay away, or at least suck power, when I closed the lid.  Finally got the option to Hibernate when I close the lid.  Not a lot of power use there, hopefully.

    Thank you

  • Energy saving of Toshiba on SP M30

I have the same problem with Toshiba watch on my SP M30 laptop running WinXP SP2 and SP1.
This utility generally LCD Brightness according to the level of the battery.
If you connect your laptop to external power the display gets bright IF you are logged on as an administrator.
This is not the case if the user has no administrator rights, the user gets the access denied message if you try to start this application.

If I understand correctly Power Saver should adjust the brightness of the LCD screen automatically, or it should be at least possible to choose a predefined profile even if connected as a user.

Energy saving settings may deny access to the application to users, but I don't have a check mark in this box.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the app without success.
Even with no installed saver the screen goes black, and then even an admin can not fix it.
    Any suggestions?

    / Normunds

    Hello

your first question is not clear as what experience do you have with the energy saver and SP1 or SP2? Could you write it down more detailly to facilitate the support of the community.

In my opinion, you had installed as administrator energy saver and maybe you restrict the user rights!

For the problem solve you should uninstall the energy saver and do a fresh install with the latest version of the page Web of Toshiba.

Also, you should read the "Driver Update Information for Windows XP with Service Pack 2" which you can also download on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Go to support and download and choose your machine!

  • Spectrum x 360: screen goes black randomly when on battery and some energy-saving options enabled

    Hello everyone,

I bought this fantastic machine called spectrum x 360 and I love it.

Unfortunately since the early days I'm facing what I think it's a problem of driver/software (not the related material).

This problem only occurs when I'm on Windows, not in the bios or at the startup. JUST IN Windows envinroment, especially after the login, and when the computer was turned off. Sometimes when I use it after a while, randomly.
This occurs only when the spectrum is on battery. The problem does not appear on AC adapter.

Problem: the screen goes black randomly for a few seconds and then reappear, sometimes the entire image on the right slide and there is a part that looks like yellow and corrupt, then goes black and reappears.

Windows Version: I'm on Windows Home 64 bit, build 14393.321 10 (update of the anniversary).

The entire screen works fine for normal operations, no artifacts.

    Replication of the problem
Initially, I was able to reproduce the problem with the driver build 4360 (which is the version of the driver from the HP site). Whenever I loaded the home page of youtube and the banner has started playing on the screen went black sistematicly.
Then I updated the GPU driver through the Device Manager, which has improved my GPU driver to 21.20.16.4494, as of July 25, 2016 and the problem happens much more rarely.
Now I am facing this problem again but Edge works correctly and is not the cause of the problem, it can appear even when I don't do anything with the PC.

I noticed this problem appears when saving options are enabled for the Intel GPU (I'm trying to translate this to English because the GPU driver Panel is in Italian):

    -update panel houses;
    -advanced mode; energy saving

If I disable these options, the problem does not appear or, better, for I've tested so far, he could not displayed when options are not in market, but I have not tested this very long to be sure.

In my opinion, there is a bug in the display driver, or some customizations made by HP causes problems with the driver.
The rest of the computer works correctly.
Any idea to solve this problem? Or should I keep these options turned off power saving?

    Hi, thanks for your help.

I have a passion for COMPUTING and ex-computer SCIENTIST, I am familiar in surveys on hardware/software questions and hope that this post will help some users get rid of this problem.
Black screens and screen corruption has been issued by the option called "auto refresh Panel" energy saving.
I did a lot of hours on battery (condition where this pop ups problem) in these days and the problem didn't show when it was turned off.
To verify that I tried to activate "Panel options self-identity" in certain occasions and, at random, on the first boot of the machine (after being turned off) the problem arises again.
It certainly is a problem with this energy-saving option.
    Now everything works fine.
If the problem appears again, I will post more information.
    Thank you for your support.

I think it would be useful to stick this post on top in this section of the forum, to be useful to other users and being more visible.

  • Satellite M40X-286: energy saving and the E - key utility does not work on Vista

First of all, sorry for my bad English.

I managed to install Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit on my Satellite M40X-286. Everything works, except for the energy saving and the E - key utility. I tried the added value of packages of other TOSHIBA models, but they all give an error message during the installation. Is there a solution for this problem?

Now I can't change the speed of the processor and the brightness of my screen, and I can't even adjust these settings in a power mode. The only way to change the brightness is manually using the FN + F6 and F7 keys.

    Kind regards
    Stijn.

Please don t be crazy about me, but there is no problem at all. The situation is quite clear.

First: tools and utilities are similar, but in most cases have to be adapted for each laptop model. It may happen that some tools work on the different model of laptop, but this does not mean that he has to work on each model.

Second important fact is that Toshiba does not Satellite M40X support for Vista operating system and I guess you won't be able to use this tool. In my opinion, it is not so important, because all the energy-saving settings you can find in Vista power options.

For utility E - key, I don't see a solution. If you use OS not supported, you must live with it.

  • Energy saving seems to work on Tecra M5-103

    Hello

I'm still under win xp original preinstalled operating system, currently being updated with all the latest versions of all powersaver just doesn't seem to work, or if it does, its out of control, here's what I've lived.

I put on my laptop screen turns off after 5 minutes

It turns off, I can't get the pc to come back, by pressing the main power button, or no button does nothing, im finally forced to close and lose all my work
    or
It is not okay and the screen stays on

I also tried to uninstall the energy saver and reinstall the latest version

When uninstalled, the standard windows power options, do not work or the other or are unpredictable, IE tell you when it is at full power, screen only turns off after 5 minutes, he won't, I don't know if its something running in the background cause

I reinstalled the last Eve always of the same problems.

This is my first post here, it's my first tosh, and I bought the most expensive.
I had 4 other laptops before that were all excellent without any problems.

I considered reinstalling basic o/s without extras tosh and base drivers just to be honest, just to see if its hardware or software that I realize that problems are not so easily diagnosed.

According to the Task Manager, I'm an accumulation huge pf up after only 1 day of work. I prefer not to close every day if possible as I work online and I have a lot of open work. Only I have no choice that the pf usage becomes too high.
I installed also now total extra ram of 2 GB.

    any help is appreciated

    Thank you

    Hi Jason

I put t think it's problem of Toshiba Power saver.
Of course, you can set these parameters in the energy saver and energy-saving control this option but in my eyes he s not the energy saver.

I recommend the update driver graphic of the latest version that is available on the Toshiba driver page.
Additional verification of the version of the BIOS. If new BIOS is available try to update. But be sure that Jason the BIOS wrong can damage your unit!

  • Satellite P30: Energy saving does not work correctly

    Hello
I have a Toshiba Satellite P30 (with Windows XP) and I have problems with my energy saving mode. When I use it for games and other applications of high power, it gets really hot on the edge of the moitor and stops.

Is it for the last month or two. Before that, it was absolutelly no problem. I checked the file TPSTrace and got this error message:
A fatal error has occurred. The program will end. Code: 0x0 rental: MainFrm.cpp (1317)

I do not know what to do with it and how to solve the problem. Any ideas?

    Hi Thomas

It is not easy to give you an accurate diagnosis, but in my opinion your laptop isn't hot because of the energy savings. Satellite P30 is pretty old laptop and maybe you should clean your laptop.

    Have you done this before?

This error seems to be serious and what you can do is to remove the preinstalled energy saver and after restarting try installing it again.

Just FYI: Watch tool is very useful, but certainly not so important and your system can function very well without it. Because of this, I presume that portable hot is because of dust inside. With more CPU and activity hardware graphics card will be hot and must be cooled properly. If the cooling rack does not clean this cannot happen. Initially, notebook will be hot, but one day she is probably turned off without any warning.

In the first trial step to clean your laptop and remove all the dust under cooling grill.

  • Multiple instances of energy saving - why?

I have two instances of energy saving in the system tray, and while I can make disappear temporarily (by removing then allowing the sys tray icon) it always puts another back after that the power has been disconnected, y at - it a reason for this?

Also, if you have toshiba saver installed, is there no way to get the windows running battery monitor? I liked that he's here, he mysteriously disappeared, and I can't imagine a way to get that back (apart from uninstalling energy-saving).

    any help would be appreciated!

    Hello

If you use Power saver you can still see battery remaining status. If you prefer to use the power of Microsoft option energy saver should be disabled removed o of the system. Please check in Microsoft power management it is possible to change eating patterns. If so you can change out there. If there is no possibility to use all the power options, you must remove Toshiba power saver.

  • Need of energy saving for Satellite L10-102

    Hello

I want to ask whether it is possible to use a software energy saving with my Satellite L10-102 model?

I tried software standby of an A55-S306 power but the software checked first is the appropriate model or not and then also failed.
Where can I find the software of standby power for my laptop? If I can't find so why the other models, but L10 didn't Eve software power?

    Thank you...

    Hello

You re right. This unit has been delivered without the Toshiba power saver. It uses Microsoft Windows power options.
I put t know why the energy saver is not designed for this device, but as far as I know it s not possible to use another energy saving that was not designed for this device.
This software cancels the installation procedure.

  • Qosmio F50 - 12L - how to turn off the energy saving?

    Hello

How to turn off recording mode on Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit on a Qosmio F50 - 12L?

    Hello

What energy saving mode say you exactly?
Normally in Windows power management you can change the plan of power for energy balanced or High Performance.

You can also do this, if you click on the battery icon in the taskbar. ;)

  • My screen saver does not work all the time, usually this seems to happen once the aircraft stopped in the energy saving mode.

Original title: my screensaver does not work all the time

My screen saver does not work all the time.  First time I have turn on computer, it works OK.  Later in the day, this isn't.  Usually, this seems to happen once the aircraft stopped in the energy saving mode.  After the reactivation of the computer (do not), the screen saver does not work when it should. How to run all the time?  I am running Kapersky Internet Security 2011.  This would be closed by the screen saver?
    Thanks, Garybuyit

    Hi garybuyit,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft answers Forums.

Just so I'm clear, updated you the graphics cards in Device Manager? You have access to a Windows XP installation disc. If so, follow the steps in this document to make a scan of the SFC. This analysis will attempt to repair or replace any missing or corrupted system files.

Power saver right for your laptop model Toshiba, you will find under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp

In any case, the experience can say that you will not be able to resolve this problem if you install from there energy-saving. I had similar problem two years ago. Nothing helps. At the end I ve installed OS using recovery media delivered.
