  • Where to go to set the channel missing from the Windows Media Center Program Guide

    Hi people,

Hoping that someone like Barb Bowman (or a person with any with any part of the Windows Media Center team still it exists) can help me with this.  I'm missing a channel in my programming.  His 668 (Discovery HD) channel, and my program guide is for Seattle, Comcast King County South (digital). I spoke with Comcast, with Ceton Corp (manufacturing of my digital cable tuner card) and with Zap2it (info guide provider program for WMC).  All of them confirm what a) 668 is in my registration, b) 668 is tunable my card, and c) 668 announces are included in the current program guide data from Zap2it.  My data to guide program is also completely updated according to WMC. Zap2it has suggested that I use this site to submit the question to Microsoft:

    https://connect.Microsoft.com/site1145

I saw other, older messages in this community to refer people to this website as well.  Well, whatever used to be here for your comments seems to have been taken down.  I can connect, I can click on the link «Studies», but the surveys page lists no surveys underway or completed.

Will there be a new favorite way to indicate this type of problem?  Please help me to connect with the right resources at Microsoft to resolve this issue.

    Thank you!

  • Windows media center program guide?

yesterday, I had to reinstall windows vista from the ground upward. I went to set up my tv and tv tuner/cable program guide in order to record and watch TV on my computer. Everything went through everything as before until I opened the guide to record programs at future dates. I noticed that the program guide was off of 3 hours. Example: the news on showed 23:00 to 20:00 on the guide and so on. I reinstalled, changed the area and zip codes to see if it worked, and nothing has changed. I disabled the box of cable/reset of the top box/internet connection / computer also. I am up to date on all windows downloads that are needed. I just do not know where to go from here. If anyone has had this problem and if yes, how do solve you this problem? Thanks in advance for any help of suggestions that I have not already tried is grateful.

    Hi nancyturnbaugh,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Community Forums.

What is the time showing correctly on the PC?

If it is adjusted to the correct time zone?

Have you checked the time in the BIOS?

I have the feeling, the time zone is not set correctly (example: the list demonstrate PST time even if you follow IS). However try to save these files and restart the computer and check the media library.

    1 close Media Center
2 click on the start menu, choose run and type cmd
    3 run the command regsvr32.exe atl.dll
    4 run the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehSched /unregServer
    5. run the command/service C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehSched
    6 run the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRecvr /unregServer
    7. run the command/service C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRecvr
    8 run the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRec.exe /unregServer
    9. run the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRec.exe/regserver
    10. run the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehmsas.exe /unregServer
    11. run the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehmsas.exe/regserver
    12 restart Media Center

Have you tried to contact the cable company?

Other users have had the same problem and it was fixed by the cable company. I suggest that you try to contact first, and make sure that everything is correct on their end.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards.

  • Windows Media Center TV Guide ads

I'm in the United Kingdom. TV Guide lists seem to have stopped updating. My listings end tomorrow morning (1 January 2013). The company that generates the list of the UK said that updates have been transferred to Microsoft, and there should be 15 days available. My task set show that the update process runs correctly on my computer.

This, I guess that Microsoft has a problem and is currently not updated its lists.

Does anyone know if this can be solved?

  • Why has Windows Media Center Program Guide, an expiration date and is it possible to extend the updates of the information on the TV program?

When I watched the recorded TV programs, I realized that no programs have been registered since May 1, 2012.

When you open the program guide settings (settings:, TV: ProgramGuide) and watched part of the' Guide' he said start from 01/01/01, end date: 2012-05-01. So that explains why I get no updates.

But someone how to get the subscription suite program listings or another way to obtain lists of programs TV in Media Center?

  • Guide to Windows Media Center (Vista x 64) will not download

The Windows Media Center TV guide stopped downoading automatically. When I try to load it manually nothing happens at all.  The Guide is now Virgin complelety (each channel does say "No data found") so I can't save this upcoing view shows, nothing.

    I found the answer here:

    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7itpromedia/thread/e123068e-8ac4-4e37-AF97-691b408582a6

    In particular, follow these steps:

This happens because the mcupdate.exe process, downloading tv setup data, is not active which should have run automatically during the installation of the tv. So make a shortcut on the desktop with this path "C:\Windows\ehome\mcupdate.exe-manuel - nogc Pei" and run it. Everything will be fine.

  • Freeze statement signal tv Windows Media Center

    I have a recurring problem.

I'm trying to update my channels of TV tuner in Windows Media Center.

I use a Philips SAA7130, Hybrid Capture Device and I use Windows 7 Ultimate.

Since I moved to Windows 7 since VISTA, whenever I go to Windows Media Center and try to update my TV channels, once it gets past enterting my Zip Code for the United Kingdom and download the guide ok, it then goes to "Examing of TV signal" and then the computer hangs.

Recovery only I have is in power turned off/turned on the PC to recover.

I tried various solutions on the web to work around this problem, but none of them work.

It's more frustrating that the program crashes.

I tried this device to update with a new driver found on the list of drivers Windows 7, as I can't find a reliable one on the Web.

I've updated 6.0.1.3 as dated: 05/08/2009 Philips Semiconductors, but it made no difference.

Judging by researching the web, it seems to be a lot of other users having the same problem and also with different TV tuner cards.

I use this TV tuner card, and it is connected to an external antenna. It's the only method I have on my PC for the reception of digital television in the United Kingdom

It worked ok when it was running on Windows VISTA.

    Have you any suggestions please?

    All,

Sorry for the delay in responding. I've never seen the above mediaCenterDataStore.db file so searched the Internet and found that the best way to solve the problem is to disable Windows Media to run. The PC should restart.

Then you re-enable Windows Media Center, and then open Windows Media Center and begin the process of setting TV and this time it works fine.

Either way, I also discovered that my TV tuner card not working, so I replaced it with a PCTV NanoStick T2.

I can now TV works as well on the PCTV s/w, as well as on Windows Media Center.

Now, everything works fine, and this issue may now be closed.

For those interested, this is how to disable Windows Media Center for WINDOWS 7 users:

    BEGINNING

    CONTROL PANEL

    PROGRAMS and FEATURES

Select "turn on or off Windows features.

You will find on the left side of the Panel

    It opens a new window

    Search

    MULTIMEDIA FEATURES

    Extend the FUNCTIONALITY of MEDIA

Uncheck the box Windows MEDIA CENTER

    Follow the instructions to continue.

    It takes some time.

It is important to ensure that you have nothing else running like the PC restart after that

    Restart the PC

Now, go back to the above process

Re-check WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER to be able to again

It does not suggest to reboot your PC, but I did anyway

I then opened MEDIA CENTER in the normal way

Then, I managed to complete the TV setting process which has taken time but do not hang at all.

    Good luck!

  • Loss of signal HDMI in Windows Media Center

I have a Dell Studio Hybrid PCs only running Windows Vista Home Edition Premium attached to a Samsung LN52A750 LCD HDTV via HDMI. If I turn on the TV away from the PC input and back, I lose the video signal... but only when Windows Media Center is running in full screen.

    It works fine:

    1. Turn on the TV.
    2. Switch to PC input on the TV.
    3. Turn on the PC.
    4. Start Windows Media Center.
    5. Turn off the PC.
    6. Turns off the TV (or switch to a different input).

    This also works very well:

    1. Turn on the TV.
    2. Switch to PC input on the TV.
    3. Turn on the PC.
    4. Start Windows Media Center.
    5. Minimize Windows Media Center.
    6. Turn on the TV to a different entry, but leave the PC.
    7. Turn on your TV to the PC - you see always the computer.

    It does NOT work:

    1. Turn on the TV.
    2. Switch to PC input on the TV.
    3. Turn on the PC.
    4. Start Windows Media Center.
    5. Turn on the TV to a different entry, but leave the PC with Windows Media Center in full screen running .
    6. Try to turn on the TV to the PC - no picture or sound is on the screen and the PC must be restarted to return sound/video fully.

I came across this problem recently (after the passage of a VGA/DVI to HDMI connection). First of all, I came across it when the PC would go to sleep - the video signal stops and the TV stop see the PC signal, even once the PC is awake. I have read a bit online and thought it was something people call a problem of 'EDID handshake. " I thought simply not let the computer sleep (and do not turn off the PC video) would fix it, but I ran into another issue. Kind of a twist.

I was showing friends how Media Center worked, I spent in the PC, showed them Windows Media Center, spent in a different entry, then switched back to the PC (because I forgot to show you something). The blue background of Media Center appeared for a split second and the signal was instantly lost. I had to reload completely in order to recover the signal.

I retried the experience - shot to the top of Media Center, active the TV away from the computer, then it passed right away - same result. Restart lost, hard signal.

I don't know how I fell on it, but at some point, I had the experience with a twist. I pulled to the top of the computer, started Media Center and reduced. Then I moved the TV away from the PC and back... and the signal was always there. I did it again, and again, the signal was there. The TV turns off and on again - signal always there. Then I enlarged Media Center, changed television away from the PC, and when I came back... NO SIGNAL.

So: with full-screen Media Center loses the signal, but when Media Center is reduced to a minimum the signal remains.

I started thinking about how my recent use of the Media Center differed from the previous time. Normally, I use the Media Center, watch a movie or something and then go and do something else. I'm back from PC to something else and back. And every time that I had spent in the PC and he had kept the signal, the screen saver has been on - the screen saver 'bubbles '.

Something that I noticed with the screensaver "Bubbles" is that it sometimes brings the Windows taskbar in the foreground so it 'up' to the Windows Media Center full screen appears. I usually turn the television on the PC input before "wake the computer" and to get the screensaver to go.

Now I wonder if the lost signal has something to do with Windows Media Center. I have [I think] know a bit the functioning of Windows and the concept of execution of different 'offices '. I wrote a screensaver in C++ unmanaged long ago and I remember there was some crazy stuff that you have to do when you write an application "windowless" (as Media Center - there is no border around it when it goes full screen) and make the "caches", as the screen saver 'bubbles '. I wonder if he has something to do with the standard Windows Desktop works correctly but the Windows Media Center app full screen "desktop" does not properly.

I tried another experience where I kept full screen WMC, leave the TV losing signal and press Win + D to minimize and show the desktop. Then I went to the TV in the back. No luck - once the signal has been lost, it was lost for good.

I did since then research various responses. I read that defining the ACPI suspend mode S3 would fix it, but it doesn't. I tried implementing a keyboard shortcut attached to a script that could change the display resolution of 640 x 480 and then change back because I read changing the resolution to update the signal - which did not work.

Basically, I got no alternative except to keep WMC reduced when it is not in use.

I'll try to set the screen saver "Bubbles" to 1 minute or something and see if that will at least let me inputs turn on the TV after one minute of inactivity. Yet, it would be good to know if there is some setting I'm missing.

    Hello Travis and Jmelton98,

Thank you for posting.  Your tests of Travis and additional post of Jmelton, it seems it will be probably something that only can be set by the video card drivers.  If you were to look at the known issues for some drivers, you would see similar questions types.  It is one of the reasons for the drivers for video cards are updated so often.  Sometimes there will be a problem so important that they will release a special patch to fix (like what happened during the crisis game is released).  There should be a new series of pilots soon become availible.

Please try and see if the problem persists.  Thank you both for the replies that it will help others too. Zack

  • Cannot get Windows Media Center to learn the remote control codes decoder

I'm trying to put in place my TV card in Windows Media Center in Windows 7.  The card is a Hauppauge HVR 2250, which has a blaster/IR receiver.

The configuration of the set-top box tells me to point the remote at the receiver and "hold" the number 0.  The problem is that the remote control supplied with the set-top box (Motorola RG2400) is not constantly emits the same IR signal when I press and hold the button - signal IR lasts only about a year and a half seconds before turning off. This does not seem to be sufficiently long for Windows Media Center and never detects the signal.

    Can I make it work?

    Hello
