Window residential group doesn't gives me the ability to display the homegroup password.  I cannot join the homegroup on my PC to change the password.  What can I do here?

Thank you.

You must display the password on a computer that is already joined.

  • Cannot get Windows 7 homegroups to work properly. Double-click a shared library on another machine in the residential group doesn't.

I just bought a new laptop with Windows 7 on it, so I decided to try the new homegroup in Windows 7 feature.  I activated the homegroup on my desk and apart from the music, photos and videos.  I then joined the residential group with the new portable computer using the password provided by the office shared libraries and the same 3 homegroup.  All appeard to put up correctly, but I can't browse libraries shared each machine to other machine.  I have the Homegroup and click on the other machine and I see 3 libraries, but when I click on any one of them does nothing.  This happens on both machines.   The only way I can get the residential groups to work is to first go to the other machine and provide credentials on the other machine.  After doing this, the homegroup files begin to work.  I was under the impression that the homegroup password was all I had to have access to all shared folders with the homegroup, but the only way I can get the homegroup to work is first authenticate itself to other machine using a user name and password.

The two machines are configured with the following:

    • Network discovery is enabled
    • File sharing and printer is enabled
    • Public folder sharing is on
    • Streaming Media is on
    • File sharing connections is configured to use 128-bit encryption
    • Password protected sharing is on
    • Homegroup connections is set up to allow Windows to manage.

I came across this forum because I had the same problem today. Real quickly, I have two laptops, one running windows 7 Home premium 32-bit and the other runs windows 7 Professional 32-bit. I have comcast for my internet provider and their cable modem attached to my belkin wireless router. I don't know if my fix will work for someone else, but it worked for me, so this is.

    1. unplug the router cable modem wireless
    2. connect the router to one of your computers using an ethernet cord
    3. open a web browser and type in the IP address of the router in the Web page bar (as when you type hotmail.com to go check your email). Mine is a belkin so 192.168.2.1 has worked for me.
    4. the control of the router page should open, and one of the options should be to reset factory settings, do this.
    5. DO NOT CONNECT THE ROUTER TO THE CABLE MODEM
6 configure the router in the same way that you did when you first installed the router, but just to be sure, I used another name for the network
    7. Once you have the password set up and named network you can disconnect the ethernet cable.
    8. connect to the new network without wire of each computer (just like when you connect to a wireless network) choose House (rather than work or public) for the network location.
    9. at this stage my homegroup didn't work, if it is not there for you, you may need to set up the homegroup in Control Panel.
    10. once the residential group is working the way you want to connect the router wireless to the modem cable and check to see if your internet connection is working by opening a web browser and go to any old site
    Hope this helps!

  • "View or print the homegroup password" nothing happens.

I am trying to connect two computers windows 7 (a 64 bit the other 32 bit) using homegroup.  When I try to make the connection to be asked a password, I know ever created.  When I press "View or print the homegroup password" nothing happens. I followed the many threads on this topic and have not found a solution that I can understand. Please explain what to do for a novice in computer science.  Is is possible to connect computers through the network without using the homegroup?  I have a third computer that the operating system is Windows XP.  Thank you.

    Here's what worked for me.

    Go to the folder C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking

Remove or rename the idstore file. Click to display the password. This folder is hidden, so you may need to show hidden folders

  • Search for Windows 7, why not if give me the files that are not yet in my augument search?

Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit OS.

Have a lot of files are duplicated.

In Windows 7 lets say the files in the folder have files that look like:

    Bill 120.le rar
    Bill 121, rar
    Bill 1 .rar

and we want to remove duplicates with '(1) '.
and we enter research * (*)

Under XP it would only list the file: Bill 1 .rar IF you entered *(*.)  or *) * or (1), etc.

    Bill 1 .rar

In Windows 7, since I started to use Win 7 years, everything I do is get frustrited when it will sometimes give me what I ask for the Bill 1 .rar.
but most of the time like now, will give me ALL the files WITH and WITHOUT the "()".

    Bill 120.le rar
    Bill 121, rar
    Bill 1 .rar

WHY?  and how can he give me what I asked?

(I tried ALL the settings and they all do the same thing)

    Enter in the search box:

    name: ~ = "{}"

The ~ = indicates to Windows 7 search to look anywhere in the name.  Usually, the quotes would not be needed, but( ) has a functional use of search for Windows 7, and the quotes tell Windows 7 search just deal with ( ) as a chararacter.  I tried to find a way to search for a (?), after? as a wildcard but couldn't.  [Update: solution concludes, at the end of the post]  However, you can enter this to search for files named with the two ( and ), but not necessarily appearing in the (#) form.

    nom : ~ = "(" nom : ~ = "")" »

    or more compactly,

    nom : (~ = "(" ~ = "")" »)

Update: more than a month later, I realized the more compactly.  Subsequently, the? is interpreted as a wildcard character.  If more digits is possible, then additional search with? exactly two for? for exactly three and so on.

    Name: ~ "* (?) *"

If filename: is used instead, then the tilde is redundant:

    filename: "* (?)" *"

  • Record is in sight, but select doesn't give all the data

    Hello guys!
I have a very strange problem here, which I have already discussed for hours now. I can't find a logical explanation for the behavior.

I have a view composed of several paintings, including one via a database link. No problems at all so far!
A user just informed of a case where a specific record data are not displayed. Therefore, I checked the problem and discovered that the individual selection queries don't produce any result for that specific record. A query that returned a result! ;-(

Now I checked the view and it seems perfectly fine. When you select everything from this point of view where the id is that of the problem record, all columns are returned.

The record exists, the perspective seems to work and also updated (changed some values in a table that contains the view and the view updates immediately)-I have no idea how to solve this problem! Maybe you have an idea? First of all, I think that it is not necessary to view code view, I guess! It's long enough!

I'd appreciate your answers and advice!

    Thousand thanks in advance!

    Sebastian

Suppose you have the following data...

    SQL> With test_data as
      2 (
      3 SELECT 11 int_qb_nr, 12 str_gebiet, 31 str_lrt_sub, 'GEH' test_col FROM Dual
      4 UNION ALL
5 SELECT 11,12,31, 'DEF' FROM Dual
      6 UNION ALL
7 SELECT 11,12,31, 'ABC' FROM Dual
      8 )
      9 -- "end of test data "
     10 SELECT * FROM test_data
     11 /

     INT_QB_NR STR_GEBIET STR_LRT_SUB TES
    ---------- ---------- ----------- ---
            11 12 31 GEH
            11 12 31 DEF
            11 12 31 ABC -- " I need this data to be output "

    3 rows selected.

    Your query (Simplified)

    SQL> With test_data as
      2 (
      3 SELECT 11 int_qb_nr, 12 str_gebiet, 31 str_lrt_sub, 'GEH' test_col FROM Dual
      4 UNION ALL
5 SELECT 11,12,31, 'DEF' FROM Dual
      6 UNION ALL
7 SELECT 11,12,31, 'ABC' FROM Dual
      8 )
      9 -- "end of test data "
     10 SELECT * FROM
     11 (SELECT int_qb_nr, str_gebiet, str_lrt_sub, test_col,
     12 ROW_NUMBER ()
     13 OVER (PARTITION BY int_qb_nr, str_gebiet, str_lrt_sub ORDER BY" int_qb_nr, "
     14 " str_gebiet, str_lrt_sub " ) rn
     15 FROM test_data)
     16 where rn = 1
     17 /

     INT_QB_NR STR_GEBIET STR_LRT_SUB TES RN
    ---------- ---------- ----------- --- ----------
            11 12 31 GEH 1

    1 row selected.

-- " Included Double quotes to highlight "

Oracle may not assign the same number of line for several data set that occurs for the group you mentioned in the PARTITION BY Clause. (int_qb_nr, str_gebiet, str_lrt_sub). Find a way to extend your ORDER BY Clause in the ROW_NUMBER function.

    Something like the following:

    SQL> With test_data as
      2 (
      3 SELECT 11 int_qb_nr, 12 str_gebiet, 31 str_lrt_sub, 'GEH' test_col FROM Dual
      4 UNION ALL
5 SELECT 11,12,31, 'DEF' FROM Dual
      6 UNION ALL
7 SELECT 11,12,31, 'ABC' FROM Dual
      8 )
      9 -- "end of test data "
     10 SELECT * FROM
     11 (SELECT int_qb_nr, str_gebiet, str_lrt_sub, test_col,
     12 ROW_NUMBER ()
     13 OVER (PARTITION BY int_qb_nr, str_gebiet, str_lrt_sub ORDER BY " int_qb_nr, "
     14 " str_gebiet, str_lrt_sub, test_col " ) rn
     15 FROM test_data)
     16 where rn = 1
     17 /

     INT_QB_NR STR_GEBIET STR_LRT_SUB TES RN
    ---------- ---------- ----------- --- ----------
            11 12 31 ABC 1

    1 row selected.

-- " Included Double quotes to highlight "

    I hope this helps.

  • RESOLVED - unable to enable IPv6 in Windows 7, so unable to connect to the homegroup - ZoneAlarm was the problem

My problem is that I can't turn on IPv6 in Windows 7.

My goal was to set up a homegroup three computers so that I can share a printer that is connected to one of them. They are all running different versions of Windows 7.  A desktop computer has created a homegroup, and a second desktop computer connected successfully to the homegroup and can print using the first computer printer.

The third computer is a portable computer. When you go to the homegroup settings page, it says that the homegroup is available. But this computer is unable to join when you click on the "join" button. The convenience store said IPv6 must be enabled.

Option is checked in the IPv6 network card settings. (The install button is also active and uninstall is dimmed. I don't understand why this should be as I have read that you cannot uninstall IPv6, if it makes sense for the uninstallation to be grey, why install would be an option? Confusion between.)

Here is what seems to be the root of the problem. In the registry settings, in the section IPv6 DisabledComponents is set to 255 (disabled). I change it to 0 (all features enabled), but I can't always connect to the homegroup. I restart the computer and the value 0 is changed back to 255.

I can't activate IPv6, it isn't surprising that the computer cannot join the homegroup as I read that this function requires IPv6.

Can any expert from Microsoft give me some advice on how to operate the homegroup?

    Thank you very much.

I have now found the answer to my problem. This is a setting in the free ZoneAlarm firewall. I will describe the solution in the case of meeting other people that.

I have the default setting of the version of ZoneAlarm is that it disables IPv6 when it starts. (I don't know if it's the same for all versions).

Although I tried disabling ZoneAlarm (and my separate anti-virus) so he was trying to set up group residential, just turn it off has no impact on registry settings - DisabledComponents is always set at 255 until you change to 0 and, critically, restart the machine. Then, the parameter 0 (enabled) will come into force. Or so it seems to me as a layman.

But if you did not disable the automatic startup of ZoneAlarm (like me) then as soon as you restart the computer, ZoneAlarm starts too and resets the 255, new registry entry to disable IPv6. If you can't join a homegroup.

The solution is to open ZoneAlarm and choose firewall, hand and advanced. Then you will see the option to activate IPv6 networks. When I didn't do the notebook had no problem joined the homegroup.

I don't know why I have the same problem on the second desktop computer. Maybe it's runnning a later version of ZoneAlarm to allow IPv6 - I haven't checked.

In any case, I spent hours looking for this solution, so I hope that the description above helps someone else that has a parameter of the problem until a homegroup because of what seems ZoneAlarm made IPv6 settings in the registry.
