Windows 2003 comments CustomizeVM_task

Hello

I'm trying to customize a windows 2003 guest using the perl API and I get following error:

SOAP fault:

-

Error string: cannot complete customization.

Lack of details: CustomizationFault everything to customize for winvm1

I installed vcenter server on a system running windows 2008 and somehow none of the newspapers last updated it. I was trying to see if the logs contain a detailed error message.

I have attached the script in case someone wants to take a look.

Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

OK I see what you're doing, I did not personally this before use case, but he expected to work. This assumes that the guestOS is up and running and you have VMware Tools installed and running?

Out of curiosity, you copied the way appropriate to the server vCenter under the sysprep directory, your Win2k3 Installer files correct?

    You are missing something:

    C:\sysprep\i386\$OEM$

This file should be present in the directory SYSPREP on the Lab Manager, if not, then something is missing. I believe that Lab Manager that creates during Setup, but you can do ths following

First of all, we need to make a folder path that looks like this

    sysprep\Win2k3_64\i386\$ OEM$

In the oem folder, make a txt file named:

    Cmdlines.txt

Open the file and just put this in it:

    \[Commands]

    'TAG_RUN_CUSTOMIZATION_EXE '.

This should replicate to have the correct file:

    C:\Program VMware Lab Manager\Tools\CustomizeGuest\Windows\Sysprep\Win2k3_64\i386\$OEM$\cmdlines.txt

(Note that your way this may differ on the Lab Manager server)

Once this is done, you will need to rebuild the sysprep packages before deploying again.

Note, you will need to each sysprep folder path too.

    Kind regards

  • Problems adding a hard drive to a Windows 2003 client

I am trying to add a hard drive to a guest VM on a host running ESXi 4.1.0 standard. It is a historical system that we must keep and maintain for another 1 & 1/2 years. There are 15 comments on this host. The local database has 1.63 TB of storage with 868,85 Go free. All comments thick supply usage.

The prompt, I work with is a Windows 2003 R2, 32-bit, Service Pack 2, Standard Edition. Currently, I have two drives C: = 80 GB, & E: = 20 GB. I am trying to add a third hard drive of 300 GB. When I try to add the 300 GB drive, I get the following error message. "Disk capacity was not properly formatted or was out of reach. It has been replaced by the nearest acceptable value. " Value, it is replaced by what is 256 GB.

I used the same Windows operating system to create three other similar servers with the largest hard drive = 100 GB C:, E: = 100 GB, & F: = 1.5 to. Microsoft's web site, said that this operating system can handle 2 TB of storage. The only difference with the other hosts three, that's they run vSphere 5.5.

The size of the block of your VMFS datastore is the limiting factor, the bottom suggest that your datastore to VMFS-3 has been configured with 1 MB block size where the maximum virtual hard disk and the file size would be 256Go.

  • Windows 2003 & 2008 vCPU compatibility

    Hi guys,.
I use the vSphere Enterprise license
I received some comments std VMs Windows 2003 and windows 2008 std, I turn vCPUs to 8 for these guest virtual machines
I wonder is Windows 2003 & 2008 supports 8 vCPUs or no, I've read somewhere Windows 2003 supports maximum of 4 processors of material, but I couldn't find the vCPU compatibility matrix
your help will be much appreciated
    Thank you
    Kind regards
    Chan

For this and for licensing reasons, VMware has introduced virtual vCPUs multi-core with vSphere 4.1. You can assign the number of vCPUs you need, and then set the way they are presented to the guest OS.

With vSphere 4.1, you must configure it as explained http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1010184, vSphere 5 provides this setting in the GUI.

To find out how many "physical" processors are supported by see for example http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888732/en-us or http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143760.aspx Windows

    Hello

I m wondering that you want to install Windows server on a laptop...

In any case, it is a known problem and also happens on XP and Vista. To fix this you need to use the laptop SATA driver or you change the SATA mode in the BIOS by AHCI compatible, then you don't need a driver.

Here are some instructions that might be useful for you:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD9401AN0000R01.htm

I do not know if you will get a driver for Server 2003 but you can try the XP driver and in the worst cases, it must use compatible mode m.

Let me give you a little advice: If you have other questions, use the forum search. You can find hundreds of discussions about this.

    Hello

As mentioned above, you will not find the Toshiba drivers designed for Windows 2003 R2 server.
But don t worry, and don t give up.
Windows XP drivers must simply be compatible and you should be able to install the Xp drivers on the Win2003 Server operating system.

I try to search the Internet for satellite a100 PSAANE drivers for windows 2003 but I can not find...

    Can someone help me please!

    Hello

You won't find these drivers anywhere
Win 2003 uses Win XP as the basis
This is why you must use the Win XP drivers!

Visit the European driver of Toshiba page and choose the satellite A100 PSAANE

In my opinion, you should try to establish the connection on how best without passwords or the firewall settings. This device is not supported for Windows 2003 server and it is not possible to find a driver designed by Toshiba.

In my opinion driver designed for Windows XP Home edition should work too but try to identify what WLAN card is registered and check if you can find a real driver of the site s manufacturer.

If you are able to see your network, but it can not be connected, check the WLAN settings.
