Windows Installer is not functional and not able to install Windows updates.
Original title: reinstall Windows Installer on Windows Vista with Service Pack 2.
How can I replace the installer of Windows on Vista (with SP2) when the redistributable version of the Windows Installer (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8483) website says that none of the versions applies to my system?
For the moment, I find it on my Windows Installer system anywhere. It seems to have disappeared without a known cause (I don't try to change anything) in early May. Since then, no updates of Windows has been installed successfully and try to download a Microsoft program to solve the problem failed because Windows Installer is not in operation.
It worked well. Help for others:-after you have created the fix.reg file, you may need to rename so that it is recognized as a .reg file. Double-clicking did not work and I had to run "regedit" and import the file. After than that everything has been A1and updates on Microsoft, iTunes and others worked well.

Not able to install firefox updates
I downloaded the new firefox updates, but not able to install. I followed the steps.
1. check if no instance of firefox is running in the Task Manager
2 lunch Firefox as administrator.
3. click on Yes
4. it begins to install.
5 throws an error as several instance of firefox running.
6. tried this couple of times, but of no use. Every time error.

You don't need to create a new profile, which is not necessary for this issue
Your bookmarks and other profile data is stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and will not be affected by a relocation, but make sure that you do not select delete data of a personal nature if you uninstall Firefox.

Not able to install the update from Windows Update
I did a "check for updates" on my "Windows Update" last night and told me that I had to update my Windows Update until I can check the updates. Then I hit the button install (on Windows Update). Then immediately, I got the error of WindowsUpdate_xxxx (sorry, that I did not write the number). I hit Cancel, struck again "check for updates" and instead saw my old list of pending updates (those are updated optional fair, not recommend/important ones and should not block the new update).I've closed Windows Update tried again and saw that even "you must update your windows update" once again, press 'install', got the same error.
After that I canceled this time, I no longer get any message asking me to update my Windows Update. I rebooted my machine, still nothing, just my old list of updates on my Windows Update. On my editing history, I do not see that anything that is dated today.
Manually download this update for my Windows Update somewhere?

Not able to install the updates, tried several times to date, 643 as an error code.
I have this PC, just a few days, with Windows 7. When I try to install updates day or the other so that the closure of the PC or doing it for the PC works, I always get a message that it failed. It is written code 643. And it is on these updates (I do not know if I translate it's good): Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB973688), a security update Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB954430), Suite Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
I tried to install them separately too and I probably have enough space on the hard drive.

Tip: If you still have problems with the pen after cleaning install, chances are that you just need a driver updated for the capture software. You should be able to find the update of the pilot on the bridge or the device, the manufacturer download pages.

This problem occurs because there is incorrect entries in the Shell folder of the user who is logged on to Microsoft Windows. When Windows Installer goes to the sale of Shell folder of the user who is logged on to the computer, Windows Installer cannot locate the correct entry. The solution is inhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886549.
The steps to correct this problem involve editing the Windows registry.
WARNING:
Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk. I suggest that you first back up your registry as follows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-the-registry.
Here are the steps to fix it.
Step 1:
a. Click Start, click Run, type ""regedit ' in the Open box, and then click OK. "
b. find the following registry key:

c. remove the entries that show the path that is listed in the error message.
Step 2:

Step 8 KB 886549 suggests that you also check the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders. However, by fixing my problem, I had not to change values in the registry key. If this does not work, follow ALL the steps in the referenced article.

After that my Macbook Pro (2008) is crushed at the time, the original version of OS X was installed (10.5.8). I have a couple of steps that should help you to solve this problem.
Follow these 4 steps to install the KB925766 correctly:
a. if the 886904 update is installed, you must uninstall the 886904 update before you install the Update Rollup 2 for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Otherwise, the installation of .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 will fail.
To determine whether the 886904 update is installed, follow these steps:
i. click on start, run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
II. Click to select the show updates check box.
III. in the list currently installed programs, locate the following item:Fix for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (KB886904)
If you see this option, you must remove the hotfix. To remove the patch, click on the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (KB886904) Hotfix and then click on remove. Then, visit the Windows Update Web sit to download and install the Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.
b. to install this update, you must have Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 installed. Windows Update detects whether these packages are installed. Windows Update automatically installs these packages for you.

Not able to install switchable graphics after windows 7 installed on HP Pavilion G4 cost
I replaced the HDD with SSD and windows 7 ultimate (X 64) installed on my laptop HP Pavilion G4. However, I am not able to install on my laptop switchable graphics now.
I tried this
1 installed HPSA and run the update and tuneup. He asked me to update ' AMD high definition Graphics Driver "but it failed with several attempts and after awhile now he doesn't want to do this update at all. Now everything is green in HPSA but I'm still not able to switch graphics
2 tried to download drivers HP page, but it says 'AMD Catalyst Mobility cannot be downloaded because of incompatible hardware/software on your computer.
3 tried to uninstall the driver but windows update drivers automatically.
4. I've also updated suggested such BIOS http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02948560 but still no luck
I don't really know what I can do here. There are some similar queries in the forum but they seems to be for different models.

That's what I did
1 looked up the number of my product in the drivers
2. Recovery Manager installation
3. AMD graphics card driver Version8.810.4.5000. (I tried earlier but did not work this time)
I tried two things earlier, but not sure about the sequence... No doubt this time I tried both of them after the BIOS update.
