Windows 7 does not install new USB keys

Hello

I installed on my Dell Windows 7 Ultimate laptop. Recently (about 2 months now), it has developed a problem where he do not installed the drivers for the new USB hard drives or flash drives. All readers of connect very well without any problems. All new readers appear in Manager under "Other devices" devices with their correct name. For example, my LaCie device appears as "LaCie device".

I have removed all my USB components in Device Manager and reboot my system. He felt that all USB components correctly but my new readers are still not installed.

I also deleted the INFCACHE.1 file as recommended by another post but still does not work.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

DJ

Everyone,

I fixed the problem myself. I found a link that helped me a lot to resolve. It seems that Windows loses somehow USBSTOR.xxx files in the C:\Windows\INF folder. They are necessary for Windows to hate storage USB devices correctly. You can simply copy them from (C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\usbstor.inf_x86_neutral_83027f5d5b2468d3) to C:\Windows\INF, and everything seems to work great.

Link to the site where I got the help of:

http://www.Uwe-Sieber.de/usbtrouble_e.html

I used the topic: Vista asks drivers or simply to install a new hardware

Once you have copied the files, reconnect your USB device and it should find it. If it is not the case, remove it from the Device Manager, remove the device and re - plug in. It should correctly find this time.

I hope this helps others.

What can I do about this that I can't downgrade to Windows XP. I have the original and the product key for Windows XP disks.

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link x days before activation.

  • Windows Update does not install the updates from 14/04/2009. Error code 80070002.

I'm running 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium on a Dell Dimension E520 PC desktop with processor Pentium dual core and 3 GB of RAM.
Reasonably up-to-date hardware. Well protected and all software security entirely to so far.
My problem that goes from Windows Update is not install updates from 14/04/2009 and returns the error Code 80070002.
I followed the advice and went in the Windows Software Distribution folder and remove all the contents of the data store and records downloads and tried again about thirty times now.
I get regarding the acceptance of the license agreement and clicking on, ok, when Vista dims the screen and asks if I started it and then the error message in Windows Update, saying: "some updates were not installed."
Is not a computer expert, I guess that what is described in help Windows Update error Code 80070002 is the same as 0 x 80070002 for which I found advice on a Microsoft page to save these commands
    net stop wuauserv
    CD %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution
    Ren Download.old download
    net start wuauserv
as a windows batch file and run as administrator.
I now have a download folder and Download.old folder. Fascinating but no help at all!
I infer that the numbers of 0x0 are my six error codes failed attempts to install Vista Service Pack 1, a few months ago who always ended up with an unusable computer suspended with a black screen and the white writing showing 46 thousand of 96 thousand file and something, followed by a number of 0x0.
The only way I could get of these attempts was by booting from the Installation of Vista disk, masking the Service Pack 1 update and using the system restore, but that's another story.
Have an impact on my current problem, I wonder?
For absolute clarity are the updates that won't install:
Explores update for Internet Explore 7 edition (KB963027) 14/04/2009 (Just editing that.) Typed a wrong number in a first time. Sorry).
Four updates of security for Windows Vista (KB952004) (KB956572) (KB959426) (KB960803)
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - April (KB890830). (I downloaded it manually and run it from my office and we found no problem).
Update of security for Microsoft Office System 2007 (KB960003)
Update of security for Microsoft Office Excel 2007 (KB959997).
I'm at a loss what to try next.
FYI, I use Uni-bleu Power Suite 2009, McAfee Total Protection and Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition with Ad-Watch Live on.
I tried to do everything that it with Ad-Aware died, but my hunch is that the problem is in Vista ot the updates themselves.
I'm quite competent with guests of orders, not to mention manually editing the registry!
However, any help would be received with gratitude and I guess that if the instructions are evidence of fool I have very carefully follow step by step.

I have the same symptoms: from a distinct point in time updates of windows works more and every time returned the error code 80070002.
After a few hours, I found the solution: sfc/scannow reported the wuauclt.exe file.
And the reason was: McAfee virusscan put this file in quarantine. He is falsely W32/Generic.worm.aa in there.
Restore this file from the GUI of McAfee completely solved this problem.

  • Windows 7 does not recognize the USB 32 GB

I have a Sandisk Cruzer 32 GB USB stick key, as I would like to transfer a single file of 9 GB between my two laptops.

The memory stick appears and works very well on a laptop (Acer) - while working.  However it does not appear on my other laptop (Compaq) after plugging him.  Laptop computers are Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, both use the NTFS system and the memory stick was formatted in this way also.

I used the disk on the Compaq Management and (after a while) the memory stick appears.  In order to avoid any conflict between the drive letters, I have re-assigned to the M: drive and that seemed to work.  However, it does not ALWAYS appear in the Windows Explorer, so I can't transfer any files to it!

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you.

    Hello Stephen,

When looking for hard drives, USB flash drives or CDs and readers of DVD using Windows Explorer, you may notice that some readers are not in Windows Explorer or the drive may disappear after a short period, or when Windows resumes or Hibernation. This may be caused by the following:

    • Your player does not have a drive letter assigned in disk management
    • The player can be disabled or offline
    • Your USB driver is maybe corrupted
    • Damaged registry keys may be the cause of problems with the connection to your CD-ROM or DVD drive
    1. When you connect other USB devices on the computer, they work well?
    2. What is the status of the Sandisk Cruzer 32 GB USB drive in the Device Manager?
    3. You have Kies installed on the computer?

  • Windows 8 does not accept the product key

About 3 years ago I bought Windows 8 Pro (64-bit). In the meantime, I reinstalled the system a good several times because of some strange accidents (see my other question). • Windows Vista does not recognize external USB 260 GB HARD drive

I have a 260 GB Seagate external hard drive, a laptop Toshiba satellite and Windows Vista Basic.

The same Windows usually choose the hard drive when I plug it, it does not appear in Device Manager and in disk management, the only way I can get it to work is to uninstall all the USB root hub and then restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB root hub and plug my hard drive.

When windows finally recognizes him, the only way to find the driver must choose c:\ manually and there's the search for the computer.
Works for the time that I have the computer hard disk, but when I stopped it, next time I use the computer, I'm having exactly the same problem.

I tried to remove the hard drive safely and then close the computer and by him plugging back in after windows has loaded, I tired it connected from the computer and tried to close the computer with connected.

    None of these work.
    Can someone help me please?

But what need s say Microsoft Windows so I don't expect 100% without bug OS ;)

Disconnect the USB HDD and remove all the USB ports and Device Manager USB controllers. After restarting again the OS should reinstall ports. Then you could try to reconnect the HARD drive.
