__Windows 7 installation error 1406 office _

I have updated from Vista to Windows 7. I had office home and Student 2007 and it was running on Vista. Now with the upgrade to Windows 7, I had to install it again. I have admin rights, I use Spybot which I stopped him, and the installation still does not work.

Insert the 2007 Office CD
Click Start
Click on the computer
Open the Office 2007 CD
Right-click on the setup.exe file, and then click "Run as Administrator"

If this does not work, give the following a try:
Try to copy the contents of the 2007 Office CD to a folder on your hard disk and run Setup from there. Andre Da Costa http://adacosta.spaces.live.com http://www.activewin.com

  • After uninstalling printer Windows Installer and Microsoft Office error "this update package not could be opened"

Original title: Windows Installer and Microsoft Office problems after you have uninstalled the printer

I tried to install more than one printer, a HP Photosmart C4280 by downloading the drivers and updates on the HP site. I uninstalled the printer after it failed to scan a document and I had no more use for it. Then the trouble started. When I tried to open some programs (iTunes, Skype, etc.) for the first time after the uninstall of the printer, a window "Windows Installer" popped up. After you have configured Windows Installer, the program would open normally. However, when I try to open any Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.), Windows Installer appears, but it turns into a window that reads:
"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer update package. »

Microsoft Office programs are open at all, and I desperately need my programs of Microsoft Office to work even faster. I would appreciate it if Windows Installer will stop trying to configure when I open a program also. Can someone help me please?

    Okie dokie.

Well I dug on the web and found someone with the same problem, and they said that when they have disabled "McAfee VirusScan 8.5 Access Protection", this error has disappeared. If this applies to you, give it a whirl if you wish.

But the best support that I found came from this website: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/838687. The jist of it is (trying to fix it yourself):
Fix it myself to fix this problem yourself, follow these steps:

    1. Log the computer by using an administrator user account.
    2. Start Microsoft Windows Explorer.
    3. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    4. Click the view tab.
    5. Under hidden files and folders, click Show hidden folders and files.
    6. Clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box, and then click OK.
    7. Open the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\
    8. If you are running Office 2003, right-click Opa11.dat, and then click Properties. If you are running Office XP, right-click Data.dat, and then click Properties.
    9. Click the Security tab.
    10. Click Advanced.
    11. Click the permissions tab.
    12. Click to select everyone in the list entered permissions and then click change.
    13. Click to select the full control check box.
    14. Click OK three times. If these steps do not resolve this issue, delete the Opa11.dat file or the Data.dat file in the following folder and then restart an Office 2003 program or an Office XP program:

  • Error 1406 and Windows 8

or how I stopped having mental health and learned to hate Windows 8

So I installed Windows 8 and as most of the own OS installs I have to install all the programs that I use. I'm going through and had no problems with things like FireFox, Office, VLC, QuickTime, and Adobe Premiere. When I got to install Adobe Reader is where I ran into a problem. It gave me the error 1406.

I downloaded Adobe Reader 11 and 10.14 from the Adobe Web site today by selecting Windows 8 opperating system. I tried to install 11 then I tried to install 10. I went through and edited the permissions of the registry keys that appear in the error message. I used the Windows administrator account to try to change the permissions of key. Nothing seems to work.

I have no problem running first and I tried to install Reader before first.

Someone at - he had no idea what could be the cause?

He said a specific key that cannot be changed.

I finally understood what went wrong. McAfee for a reason was the reactivation of the access protection when I closed downt he consoles. If I leave the console open and disable access protection, it works. I have to look in to change this feature to prevent it happening again.

  • "The administrator system has set policies to prevent this installation" error install Steam .msi program

Hi, I am trying to install the Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/about/) software, and I can't seem to. The steam program is an .msi file, and unlike the programs .exe, when I click right there is no option to 'run as administrator '.

According to the instructions I connected as the 'administrator' on my computer (it's one PC at home to the unique user ID is the ID of the admin), but every time I try to install it it stops with this message: "the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation. I am running Vista.

I tried Googling this issue, there seems to be a common problem for some, however, it doesn't seem to be a single solution (which does not require a degree in rocket science). I'm quite honestly only a basic computer user (I say this so you don't expect me to know how to get into the registry or anything exotic like that), so if you could help with instructions on how to fix this it would be much appreciated.

By suggestion of Steam, I have updated my Microsoft Installer (4.5). This did not help.

    Thank you very much.

Ah, I did it - did not work. The error message is actually a bit of a herring - turns out he can appear for a variety of reasons.

Turns out that my gut wasn't about it being a registry problem... the MS Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable entries had broken somehow, preventing the installation of all instances of the same Windows install. Of course, most installers begin with MSVC Redist installation, that's why they were all fail. Fortunately, I didn't have to change the registry manually.

I found a program on the Microsoft Download Center for help. Don't remember that actually was called but it is mainly to fix broken installations of MS Office (when they go to halfway, so there are entries in the registry, but the installation has not actually finished... so that windows will not let you install or uninstall). There just uninstall things correctly and released their registry keys. I zapped the entrance MSVC 2005 that has been there all my installers started working again!

    Fantastic.

So yes, by sorry, that's probably all really confusing... was actually broken registry ultimately. Fixed by Googling for a few days. :)

  • Error 1406

Error 1406.Could not write the OscarEditor value in the \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run key. Check that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support team.

Hi, I get whenever I try to install the Oscar Editor for my mouse. I had installed before, and works very well but a little while back. Now when I try to install I get this.

I am an advanced user and have made the following checks to see if I can fix it but nothing has worked so far:
    (1) I did a system restore to point as soon as possible.
    (2) I checked all permissions of folder parent in regedit and SYSTEM can be accessed freely.
    (3) I upgraded Windows Installer 4.5.
    (4) I tried as admin (even though I'm part).
    (5) I tried to run in compatibility mode with Windows XP (SP2).

I can't get rid of the message. I have not tried to reinstall Windows Installer, as I do not know how to Vista.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Matt

    I have it!

At least for me, Natwest will ask you to install the report for security reasons, if you use internet banking to check your bank statements.

Report locks this directory and this is what makes, I just uninstalled and reported the problem and everything works fine.

PS: I am aware of what I have just outlined. But I don't know that it will be fixed soon.

  • Cannot write to the registry key for Acrobat XI - Error 1406

    Hi all

I have a problem regarding the installation of Adobe Acrobat XI 11.0.07 on a laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium OS.

In short, I cannot complete the installation of Adobe Acrobat XI on this machine because Acrobat is not able to write the value to the registry key that is located here:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-> SOFTWARE-> Microsoft-> Internet Explorer-> toolbar.

I tried to find solutions on the internet and found a Web page on the Adobe Forums, which is this: Error 1406.Could not write the value Adobe ARM - and it was not very useful, since the person requesting to solved his problem, but did not say how he did. So, I found this page using Acrobat, called Error 1402. Error 1406. Acrobat, Reader where I tried different solutions, but so far none of them have worked. What I did to remove all previous versions of Adobe Acrobat, Reader, Air and so on. In fact, I deleted all Adobe software, in which case one of these programs were to blame, but it did not work. Before that I have deleted all this software, I deleted Acrobat and Reader several times, but you have probably already found, it did not work. As it did not work, I tried the following solution using Acrobat, which was to 'Set permissions to their default values in the registry'. I followed the solution completely and does what he says, but it did not work. As a note, I must say that the type of registry key with that I have a problem called 'Locked', is a REG_DWORD type and the data value is (0). That this has something to do with it? I'm not too familiar with editing the registry. However, I tried to change the value of (1) and updating the registry, but it did not work...

More information: However if I install the full version of Adobe Acrobat XI or the default installation, the same error pops up: Error 1406. I scan my system with my antivirus Bullguard software, to see if there is no virus. There are not. Also, I closed my antivirus software and turned off the firewall of Bullguard, but this was not successful either, I did a scan of my system using cmd as administrator (sfc/scannow) and the program found a few mistakes, he could not fix. As far as I can see, he finds three files .dll with errors. I have the document called sfcdetails.txt if it would be very useful for you.

In addition, I don't know what to do. I paid for Adobe Acrobat on 23 January 2015 and I failed to make it work properly again, and I can't update the software, because I have a problem with the registry. I am able to use the software for that I had to use it to so far, but I would like to be able to use it for what it represents and update in order to avoid any lapse in security.

Thank you. I hope that you have some ideas for my problem and will be able to help me!

    Best regards

    Mads

    Hello Rahul,

I found a way around the problem I described in the post. What I did to reinstall Adobe Acrobat XI and do not install the PDFMaker for Internet Explorer, and this solved the problem! And since I do not use Internet Explorer for PDF do, it's good for me, and now I am able to update to Acrobat. But for people who would like to use Internet Explorer for making PDF, it is of couse is not suitable... But for me it is. I still don't know how to solve this problem. It might have something to do with the fact that Adobe Acrobat XI is not able to support Internet Explorer 11, but this was written by a user on the Adobe forums, so I don't know if it's reliable. The "help Acrobat / compatible browsers and applications of PDFMaker Guide" immediately said that he made, but I'm not sure. Maybe it's a compatibility issue?

in any case, thanks for the answer you gave - but I found myself

    Best regards

What do you suggest I try next?

The fact that HP Connection Manager is no longer installed, how this will affect my computer?

The fact that it is no longer installed will have no effect on the functioning of your laptop and none on the operating system.

HP connection manager is simply a utility assistance for people who are making it difficult for the network through conections wifi and bluetooth connections.

If you are not in this group it is really useless.

From your description, it seems that if you can't follow instructions in the Microsoft fixit to the letter. By using the fixit is the easiest way to remove the registry entries and make changes to the registry that will allow installing and uninstalling software.  I can't recommend the methods that I use personally when I run on these issues because they involve access to the registry via regedit. The word people have never even heard of Regedit. Using Regedit can be a very bad thing for someone not experienced in the use of the registry editor.  All ch = angels did take place immediately and which included all the mistakes made during the access to the registry. Ongoing work on an operating system can fairly easily through the registry editor. Try the Microsoft fixit. It is a safe utility. Use it after an attempt to install and leave the window open until after error that does compete with the installation of the software.

If it isn't your game, then the Compatibility Center W7 says that is not compatibile. But it seems there are other versions that can run.

Make sure that your installation discs (if his coming to a CD/DVD) are all the scratches/dirt free and clean. A bad scratch or dirty mark on a disc can cause 'odd questions' sometimes.

There are a few things to try:

    1. find the Setup program you are running for the game and which run in XP compatibility mode.

2 in case of failure too and then try to run it in XP Compat mode and as administrator.

I noticed there are a few paths on the www, if you get it installed, it may be an idea to get patches and install them to the best game(check AV before installing).
