947821 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821/) Description of the update readiness tool for Windows Vista system

Note After running the tool, the Checksur.log file is stored in the following location:

  • Windows does not update 80072F8F - error Code:

Get this error message after you install a new graphics card. The old one-stop working. My PC has been down for almost 2 months because of this, so updates are now critical.

Windows used manually or automatically update, my time/date/year are broadly and cannot update either. When I try to update time, I get this message "an error has occurred so that windows was synchronizing with time.windows.com". I have other choices from other time synchronization servers, but none of them does not work either.

I run Vista Home Premium 64-bit

I have a problem connecting to some Web sites. Windows tells me "There was a problem with this Web site security certificate." I had this connection to hotmail message just to report this error. I get this connecting to Yahoo and many other sites. But I you the chance to replace and enter the Web site, against the better judgment of Windows.

I have googled this error code and have tried a few ideas to fix, but nothing seems to work.

Go to start / Control Panel / Date and time and click on change date and time.  Use the calendar to update the date and boxes to adjust the time.  Adjust the first date - then the time.  If necessary, clear syncronizatiion temporarily while solve you the problem, and then turn it back on once it is very close again.

That alone might be causing all the other problems, so let's see what happens once it has been repaired.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    Hi Olivier,.

This problem is usually caused if you plug in external devices other than the mouse and keyboard, or if there is no program third party or apps that blocks the update settings. I would like to know some information about this problem so that we can help you further.

    1. have you connected external devices other than the mouse or keyboard?

2 have you tried to install/check updates after a reboot?

    3. what security software is installed on your computer?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it works for you.

    Method 1:

If you connect the external devices other than the keyboard and mouse, then try to disconnect if and check if you are able to install/check updates.

    Method 2:

Put the computer in a clean boot state, and check if the problem persists. Clean boot helps you disable all non-Microsoft services, so that we can check which third party/app program is causing this problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 or Windows 8 / 8.1:

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, see the "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" section in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

    Method 3:

  • Windows Vista KB2887069 update installs, error code: 80070233

I think I downloaded successfully several more recent updates that made the update of obsolete KB2887069.  Because I have successfully downloaded KB2887069 still could not install it because it becomes obsolete compared to my other updates downloaded, I now continue to receive notifications, asking me to restart my computer for KB2887069 to take effect. Because it is not installed, I cannot uninstall it but because I downloaded it, I'm constantly bothered by the notice asking me to restart so KB2887069 will install.  Thank you!
