Windows 7 key changed?

Hello.

About 2-3 years ago, I had a problem with my Windows 64-bit edition. We found that it was illegal and advised me on this subject with black screen and the text below to the right, as in the case of illegal copying. The problem was big enough that I wasn't able to solve it by myself and I asked the support of aid. Then he replaces some files and was allowed. Up to now.

Now I want to change my hard drive to SSD. I can not download W7 of MS official page with my key with keyfinder - this key seems to be Windows Server 2008. One on the COA is hard to read, but I think that with a few tests I get the right - again, I can't download with it, this time, it shows another error.

What should I do? I thought about using recovery partition and get the old key, if I read wrong COA. Or just these tools cannot read the key from windows 7 properly for some reason any? I'll be able to work at all, or keys will not match again?

Maybe I should try to copy the recovery on SSD partition and then install Windows of her?

The software download site does not always work properly and even a perfectly valid key (I have such a key) is not recognized. The site will also reject an OEM key provided by the manufacturing of PC even if all the letters and number are perfect, clear and easy to read.

I suggest you to create an Image backup, and then try to enter the key as follows.

Open a prompt (run as administrator) and type:

slmgr.vbs - ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX (XXXXX-XXXXX-... is your key)

Press 'Enter' and if the key is accepted then proceed to try activation.

(2) to activate windows after changing the key, at the command prompt, type:

slmgr.vbs - ato and press 'Enter' key and wait a few seconds for a response to be displayed.

  • How recover the 8 original windows product key after I accidentally changed?

    Hello guys,.

Something really bad happened to my laptop and I can't seem to solve the problem. Therefore, I am writing this problem here in order to get the help of you smart guys. Last week one of my friends borrowed my laptop for 3 days while I worked. When he came back to me, he said that he has accidentally changed the product key of my windows and it could not get it back. I tried to work on it since then. Finally, I decide that I need help after the future store (where I bought the laptop) fail to come with a solution for the future. I know there are a lot of guys here are really smart and pro on computer problems, so maybe you can help me with this problem. It's a laptop ASUS K75DE of model with windows 8 preinstalled inside. I just want to know if there is a way for me to get the original product key from windows, which is preinstalled in the laptop.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you guys.

With Windows 8, Microsoft changed stickers that have the product key that the user must type in during the installation of the operating system of new embedded BIOS product key. The idea is that by eliminating the tile, you eliminate one of the easiest ways for nefarious users get a legitimate product key. The sticker also eliminating product key removes any concern that the vignette could get damaged while at the same time eliminating the long and irritating the process of typing in various letters and numbers in the installation of the operating system.

If the user has to reinstall the operating system on a computer with Windows 8, the installation process automatically captures key software product of the motherboard BIOS without input from the user. This means that these stickers familiar windows product key will no longer appear on Windows 8 computers.

Your only option is to restore the computer to its original factory condition.

New computers that come pre-installed with Windows often have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

Hi all, I have reinstalled windows XP.
When I try to update SP2 to the system, mircrosoft told me that I do not use a product key.

Then I followed the instructoin to download a tool of KeyUpdate and I put the product key in my laptop, it saids is not the correct key for windows I use.

    OS version: Windows XP Professional
    Manufacturer: TOSHIBA
    Model: Satellite M60

It shows the make and model.
However, I use a Windows Xp Home Edition and this CD key is fine with *-*-*-*-Q6JWG.
And the product key for my laptop is fine with *-*-*-*-GCFKM.

Then I download the Windows product key update tool and put in both the product key on the CD and laptop.
Two of them doesn't work. I want to know how can I update the Service Pack for my windows. Can anyone help? THX!

What can I do for this? THX!

    Hello

I read a few threads about similar problems with the BONE key and the key change has always helped
Sometimes, Microsoft rates the key of the image as incorrect or not valid. Why? I don't know... it's Microsoft you know ;)

Fact is that the key on the cover of the CD can only be used to activate the software Microsoft Works or OneNote installed on the laptop. The key is not responsible for the Windows operating system.
The key that could be used with the Win operating system is placed at the bottom of the unit.

Well, according to your message you used this key and now I m a bit confused
I think you should make a call to the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country to clear this problem

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post on your question of activation of Win10 and wanted to help.

In Win10, the product key is stored in the motherboard UEFI firmware.  Because you're not change that, you risk to disable.

In addition, the activation key is stored on servers for Activation of MS, and that information are NOT linked to the HARD or SDD drive you are using.  I can say this because once I got Win10 works as I wanted, I migrated there a disk HARD of a DDI and nothing has changed - except the performance is much improved!

    Good luck

I had to spend my PC this morning. Moving it, I decided to implement a new network card. I have a valid license for Windows XP key code, so why the system tells me it is not currently active or real?

When Windows checks to see if you have moved your copy of Windows to "another computer", among other things, that his focus on the identification of several strands of material in the computer to see if they are different than when Windows was first installed.  I do not remember the list for now, but I remember that the network card is one of the pieces - and IIRC it is 'valuable' higher than others to reach the conclusion.

You probably other elements has changed over the past seven years and now Windows has decided to have a "new" computer  Assuming that you haven't changed the motherboard - if you had, you would have had this issue at the time wherever you did--your installation is still legal.  Reactivate using your original license key. Since it is an OEM version that the 3rd party "key finders" will not help you. Don't bother to google for them.

The only solution is to call the manufacturer of your computer...

    1. tell them your situation and see if they can help on the key issue of product.
    2. If they say "can't", ask them to send you a set od recovery disks. " THS cost is minimal and the money will be well spent. The game will save your computer when the computer breaks down.

    3. at the same time, ask to speak to a technician. Ask the person if he or she can teach you how to access the recovery Partition and how to use it to restore the system.

Suggestion #2 and #3 do NOT require the use of the product key.

When I install a preinstalled (OEM) or the retail version of Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 Windows 10 license, this license OEM to remain or become a retail license?

If you upgrade an OEM or retail version of Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 for the free Windows 10 update this summer, the license is consumed in it. Because the free update is derived from the basic qualification license, Windows 10 will be that too many licenses.

If you are upgrading a retail version, it carries the rights to a commercial version.

If you upgrade an OEM version, it carries the rights of an OEM version.

    Full version (retail):

-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.

-Does not require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.

    -Expensive

    Upgrade version (detail):

-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.

-require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.

-Expensive, but less expensive full version

    OEM:

OEM of Windows versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

What happens if I change my motherboard?

This would cancel the upgrade of Windows 10 license because he no longer a previous eligible license, which is required for the free update. Then, you will need to purchase a Windows 10 full retail license.

Users who take advantage of the upgrade will also provide for Windows 10 Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 be able to get a recovery media?

Microsoft has recently noted the following options available:

With 10 Windows, you can create your own recovery media and save the pristine state of the operating system and pre-installed software. If things go wrong and you cannot refresh or reset your device successfully, you can start the machine by using recovery media and given to prior intact.

  • Need help with Windows 7 key.

I have a laptop that I had to change the HARD drive due to a complete failure.  I had a Windows 7 key I know has been good and have never used, purchased as part of a package of pc 3.   Now the installation tells me that this is not a valid key.  I paid almost $150.00 for this set of 3 installs for Windows 7, about 5 years ago.

The old HDD is dead, I tried to connect with a USB key and nothing.   The laptop was working fine with WIndows 10, then the portable HARD drive is simply dead.  I need help with a new key, or at least the one I have to work.  The new drive HARD won't have not all partitions or any attached former windows key.  I can't get past the check of Windows screen.

    Need help please.

You must use the product key located on the COA sticker (at the bottom of the laptop, sometimes inside the battery cover or access. Once you have located the product key, and then follow the instructions below to change the key of the key from the factory to the key on the sticker.

  • Reinstalling windows - activation key has expired?

We bought a desktop dell computer about 1 1/2 to 2 years with pre-installed windows 7 Home premium. He broke, but some parts were always good. We bought a new Acer with preinstalled Windows 8 office which I didn't like. Also, the hard drive of the Dell printer was bigger. The intention was to simply pass on the disks, so Acer would have a bigger disk and Windows 7. It wouldn't boot correctly, so we reinstalled Windows 7 by using a disk image, downloaded from Microsoft and product key that was stuck on the Dell. Finally, we sold the Dell a guy on Craigslist. We had signed up everything except the motherboard, processor and power supply. As we took off the Windows 7 product key sticker. Acer has worked well and never mentioned anything on Windows is not genuine not. He remained off the coast for a few weeks. I turned today and it installs the updates on start up. The login screen normally shows and I connect. The desktop appears in black with 3 lines of text in the corner:

    Windows 7

    Build 7601

This copy of Windows is not genuine

There is a window in the middle of the screen that says

    Activate Windows now

    The activation period has expired

    It gives two options:

    Activate now

    Ask me later

At this stage there is no start bar or the desktop icons as if windows Explorer has not yet begun.

About 2 to 3 minutes later the paper in his arrives and the start bar and the desktop icons appear. The window "Activate Windows now" disappears also.

    Another window appears which says:

Update optional delivery does not work

You may be victim of software counterfeiting.

I tried not to get my key or whatever it is in fear that it could be a virus.

What is going on? There may be remnants of the key somewhere on the case of dell outside the sticker? What should I do?
