Tecra A8 hangs sometimes

Hello

My Tecra A8 freezes, sometimes several times a day, sometimes once a week. The only thing I can do is to shut down the computer with the power button.

Sometimes it freezes completely, but the network connection drops and the mouse does work only intermittently. I have also noticed once when I plugged the USB mouse, LAN does not work anymore, and when I disconnected the mouse, LAN began to work again.

I think that the gel is also linked to some kind of conflict between the mouse and LAN, but Device Manager shows not all conflicts.

I'd appreciate any help. I'm on WIN XP Professional with SP2. Thank you in advance!

Hello

Can I ask you if you use the Toshiba pre-installed factory image?
This image of Windows has been tested and verified several times and it should work without any problems!

For me, it looks like a software conflict.
So, if would be very interesting to know if this strange behavior would happen after installing fresh OS from CD recovery of Tosh!

Try this!

Because the problem of the situation of freezing does not occur every day, I'm worried with the warranty...

    Thank you in advance!

Hmmm. These symptoms occur for different reasons.
Maybe the higher temperature could be one of the reasons why

Have you noticed a higher temperature while this question would seem?
    Maybe you should watch this.

The fact is that higher temperatures could affect the GPU and RAM feature that could cause this problem
In most cases, the temperature rises to a higher level because the vents and fans are obstructed. Dust and debris could be the problem.

I recommend to clean the fans and cooling grids using a jet of compressed air.
It s the sense is to get rid of the dust and prevent Notepad from freezing.

    See you soon

  • Tecra A2 does sometimes when moving between programs

Tecra A2 occasionally freezes and does not respond. If I end task and launch it again it works normally. Sometimes I have to restart the computer until it is fixed. It happens often when opening Outlook or Excel to Word trip. Just to uninstall the OS, reformat the hard drive and reinstalled but it stil has frozen two times in 6 hours today

    > Tecra A2 occasionally freezes and does not respond. If I end task and launch it again it works normally
It is a normal behavior if an operating system is busy.

If a lot of process and services are run in the context of the operating system, so the system could sometimes hangs.
In you case, I would recommend the whole OS and surveillance programs simple and check which application could cause frost.

But note; Sometimes a problem of overheating could cause these issues also.
Usually, the temperature rises to a higher level if the CPU works with maximum performance. If cooling modules n t work properly then the CPU cannot be cooled and the laptop could start to freeze.
In such cases, it s advisable to clean the fans with a jet of compressed air.

    Good luck

  • Tecra M10 hangs when booting with the new OEM battery

    Hello world

I bought an OEM battery for my tecra and now the laptop freezes at boot (the screen remains black with a flashing underscore) with the battery connected.
I have to remove the battery, connect the AC adapater, turn on the laptop and, after loading of windows, and then connect the battery.

    Any idea?

    Thank you

    > I bought an OEM battery for my tecra and now the laptop freezes at boot (the screen remains black with a flashing underscore) with the battery connected.

In most cases underscore flashing is related to the problem of faulty RAM or HARD disk.
In my case, the HARD drive was defective and so I had the same symptom for laptop.

I m not very well where is the link between the blinking underscore and the new battery but the computer world everything is really strange sometimes and a lot of strange things can happen so maybe the new battery is defective

Have you noticed this problem with the old battery?
If not, then I recommend test another battery maybe it helps

  • Tecra 8100 hangs up and CPU gets hot

I updated the bios and the performance max cooling and the dynamics processor and then put in a new HD. I then installed Win XP.
During the installation of the cooling fan was still running and completed the installation of the OS. Now, my laptop crashing all the time. The hanging of the changes of time (between 5 and 60 minutes).

I noticed that the fan rarely during 5 s maximum, and the computer gets very hot. The fan is supposed to turn all the time by running and changing speeds according to temp or is it normal that it be turned off. Are there steps that I missed during the installation or special drivers to install.

    Hi frank.

Tecra 8100 is a little older. Am I wrong? I checked the page of the Toshiba driver and there is not a lot of XP drivers for this Tecra series. Most of the drivers are for OS W2k Win98and.

I recommend you to check the cooling fans. Maybe dust and debris inside prevents air flow correctly and so the laptop can not be cooled very well.

It s a fact that stuck fans are mainly responsible for overheating problems

  • Tecra 8100 hangs after startup

    Hello
My Tecra 8100 has the same problem as described some time ago: the memory locations of MB were broken and doesn't have a connection properly. Even when I put paper or anything else between the cover and the memory module, it did not work and often my laptop has not yet started.

I bought the new MB and now the laptop still start (I can see BIOS etc.) BUT crashes after Windows XP logo with notice: windows cannot start because the pci.sys file is damaged... The names of 'corrupt' are different, not only from pci.sys.

When I portable computer boot from CD Win (to save the system) it blocks (crashes after 2-3 minutes). I tried to boot from Ultimate Boot Cd to detect the problem, but I can't do anything - always crashes after a short period of time - never start to run tests or Tools CD.

I think that there is a problem of memory - I have 2 modules Kingston KTT-SO100/256, I tried to place them in different locations, together and alone, but nothing changes.
These modules have worked with my old MB all the time.

    Any ideas?
    Radek

I read on other forums that this error can appear if the modules of memory are corrupt or not compatible or the memory on the motherboard slot is faulty.

Well, you have replaced the Board but do you use 100% identical to that of first?
Perhaps modules of memory are not compatible with the new Board of Directors.

  • Tecra A4 hangs on Win 7 logo

    Dear Advisor.

My Tecra a4 goes beyond installing but crashes on startup with windows logo 7.

I have tried several things but all fail, I see guys have an option to delete files on the command line but I don't know how.
Please guide me so that I can get this windows 7 works as I have no operating system. Only the tools of den of discs.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

Are you able to repair the operating system using F8?
    Check it!
Press F8 during the startup of the laptop to the top, and then select Safe mode or fix my computer.
There should be option that would repair the OS.

If this is not possible, then you must Win 7 disk to reinstall the OS again...

Boot from that disk again and try to reinstall win 7 again.
If this is not possible, then it might be something wrong with the HARD drive or any other parts like for example RAM

  • Tecra A3x hangs at "Setup starts windows" during the XP installation

    Hi again
I posted another thread on this laptop. This question was cured by adjusting the correct CPU.

So, now everything seems fine. Everything seems to work except very well.
During the installation of XP, the drivers all will charge them and then we get the text 'Setup starts windows' the lower left of the screen.
It does not further, just sitting there.

I googled this problem and read many old threads on the subject, I went to the Microsoft website too.
So far I tried (on the basis of these old threads)

    Different installation discs
    Different memory
Disable (in bios) that anything not reqd such as Lan
    Reset the default bios settings
You press F5 when invited to press F6 for scsi drivers. From there, I tried different setting options.

The current bios is 1.30, I understand there is a update available for 1.4 but it is a basic installation Win rather than back may be done without THAT installed XP.

Suggestions for what the problem maybe?

    Hello

What version of Win XP you try? Win XP contains the SP3?
Please include to the Win XP SP3 using a tool called nLite and then try to reinstall Win XP.

AFAIK the Tecra A3x support a common IDE HDD so no driver RAID or SATA is necessary.

You can also check the HDD of the Tecra.
Use the tool called Drive Fitness Test to test the HARD drive

    Good luck

  • Tecra M2 hangs, do not complete boot, requires manual stop

I have a tecra m2 giving the above problems.
Note that once the laptop is extracted from the image, it works 100%. It was only after the installation of 3rd party programs happening. the programs are the following: StarOffice, NAV Corporate, Mozilla and VPN.
When trying to start, the laptop crashes before to process all items in the taskbar, the Task Manager are not available, nor can the start menu. It must also be stopped via the power button. someone has had problems like this before? is there a fix for the 3rd party software which is obviously the cause of the problem

    Hello

I use Tecra M1 almost a year and I don t have these problems. It's very strange because I use lots of 3rd party programs and each of them works correctly.

Sorry, but it is unclear to me that a fix is available.

  • Tecra S1 hangs in standby

I have a Tecra S1 with XP SP2 which was a problem when the machine goes to sleep. The screen goes black, but has a very large mouse pointer and a cursor blinking in the upper left corner. When I try to bring the computer from sleep mode, strange blocks of the desktop images are displayed on the screen but she doesn't wake. I need to reboot that causes a file corruption.

I have flashed to the latest version of the bios, and other drivers from the Toshiba download page.

I'd be happy turn off standby but couldn't find where to do this. Any suggestion is welcome.

    Thank you

    Hello

I put really t know why this happens but it may be due to an application that won t be closed.
You have a similar problem with hibernation mode?

Check please the parameters in Toshiba power saver. Under properties of full power > power system mode you will find two options (by pressing the power button / stop and close the cover) and must not be set to Stand as an option. You can choose no action.

  • XP hangs sometime after the beginning

After starting XP and leaving running normally, without using the PC, the taskbar appears to freeze and the clock stops, it's sometimes after the PC has been maintained for at least half an hour. Press Start to closing or other icons on the desktop displays the hourglass and the only way to turn off is to use the power button. Also sometimes during the boot of startup process does not seem to fill because some icons are missing from the taskbar, near the clock. No error message is displayed.

The PC is less than a year, Dell Latitude and I use Norton 360 antivirus updated and run at least twice a week.

    Hello again Malkeleah,

Now, I rebooted the PC reconfigured as before and reloaded some my previous programs with no problem, trial of providence? In any case, everything seems fine so I'll close this thread as answered.

Thanks again for your help and your support, there are really just to be able to talk to someone else, thank you.

  • Satellite Pro A120 hangs sometimes

    Hello

I've had my Satellite Pro A120 for a little over a month now, and during that time, he has frozen maybe five or six times. This is the type of crash response system, which completely stops can be recovered by using the Task Manager to end the process, and the only cure is to turn off and on again. When this happened, the laptop did not turn all particularly demanding programs, maybe Word, iTunes, or Mozilla Firefox.

This could be due to overheating? The Unit feels often hot to the touch around the vents on the left side, but not excessively hot. Is there a utility I could use to see if all the material is defective?

I ran the Toshiba PC diagnostic tool, but it says the hard drive, processor and memory are all very well.

    Hello

Well, it's not easy to say why it happened.
Yes, your suggestion is good. Something like that could happen if the temperature is too high. But if the laptop overheats the operating system should stop the unit automatically without warning.
However, to avoid overheating, don't forget that there is enough free space around the laptop for a good air circulation.

But also the software problem could be a reason for any frizzing. Then the OS on my laptop s brother frisottés several times. I just installed the fresh WinXP and since then everything is ok.
    You should study a bit

  • Tecra M5 hangs during the shutdown process

Thanks to those who responded to my query. With your advice, I have now uninstalled Norton Ghost - and the problem disappeared, my machine now stops, goes to sleep and Hibernate properly and wakes up again properly. The next question to consider is why this is the case with Ghost and it is something that I intend to meet with Norton. If I answer, I'll post again. See you soon

I also installed the Norton Ghost on my laptop, but I've never had no problem with the closing of the bottom.

I think the ghost started always while the Windows has been started and the ghost was running in the background.
This can be disabled in the registry.

I removed the ghost registry entry in Hkey machine Microsoft windows current version of the software - run
