  • Publisher e-mail attachments will not be opened

When I try and open an image following messages appears in the photo library and photo viewer.  "Windows Photo Viewer cannot open this photo because Photo Viewer does not support this file format or you do not have the latest updates for Photo Viewer" how to make updates?

    Hi Donna,.

    Please contact Microsoft Community.

It seems that you are facing problems when opening e-mail attachments. It would be great if you can answer the following questions:

1 have had any changes made on the computer before the show?

    2. the problem occurs for a specific file?

    3. you try to open the attachments Editor?

    4. the question facing you with Photo Viewer?

I suggest you to refer to the items and set the default values for the file format:

Change default programs using Set Program Access and computer defaults

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/change-default-programs-using-set-program-access-and-computer-defaults

Change the programs that Windows uses by default

You can also check out the link and check if it helps:

I hope this helps. If you have additional questions on the computer, please ask your question about Windows with full information and we will be happy to help you.

  • Location of the folder to Windows Live Mail attachments

    Hello!

I'm operating on your laptop abroad. The email client is Windows Live Mail.  I do not use it at home. People send me .doc attachments or.docx.  I don't have Office 2010 on this machine so need to open them in free Office or Open Office. I looked in AppData/Roaming and cannot find the .doc files.

    Thank you

    FJJWagner

I just browsed to the folder where incoming .doc files are stored

When you receive an e-mail message with an attachment, the "attachment" is just a block of code at the end of the message you want to read. In the upper part of the block will be a line of header Content-Type by saying the program which contains the code block. For a Word document, it will often be application/msword. You can see for yourself if you select the message in the message list, press Ctrl-F3. This will reveal all of the source of the message. Attachments will be inside; If you start at the bottom and scroll until you get a blank line, you will see the header for the attachment lines.

The attachment does not become a file until you ask the client e-mail program to open it or save it to a file. Then, the program converts the code in the appropriate format - in this case, a Word document - and generates a file. If you have selected Save, the file will have the name you choose and be stored in the location you choose. To do this, in Windows Live Mail, right-click on the icon of the attachment in the message header area, and then select record under. You can accept the file name suggested if there is one, or enter a new name. Once registered, the attachment is a Word document as those you produce yourself and will be treated as such by any program that you use to open it.

If you receive a message like this one in a Hotmail type account and read in your web browser, will give you the ability to view the attached document online, where you will be able to use an online version of Word to read, edit and save the document. • Firefox displays windows since the last time, how to open clear last tab?

I have Firefox set to restore my previous session when starting.
Last opened tab has an 'x' to close. When you press ctrl + w, it will close the window so that whenever I open firefox it will restore the previous tab.

Is there a way to close the last tab, then exit when you press ctrl + w? This so that I can have a new session by clearing the last of them at the exit.

Set the pref browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab to false on the topic: page config to prevent the closure of the last tab to close this window and display a close button if only one tab is open.

  • Cannot open PDF files in Windows Live Mail.

I recently got a new computer running Windows 7.  I have Windows Live Mail and have tried to open the 'pdf' files attached to e-mails.  When I try to open them I get an error message.  I downloaded the file in the file management section for Adobe and Adobe.  How to open a PDF file without first having to save it on my computer?

HURT SO BAD!  I had the same problem - I tried the security options in Internet Explorer and Adobe, also the download of unassociate.exe that was put in place for users of Vista and used on the extension pdf without result.  IF YOU USE IT ON THE PDF AND PDFXML extensions, then open Adobe reader and click Help, repair drive installation it works!

Obviously, you cannot run your life by saving just to open attachments... Adobe has no answers on their site and find the file unassoc.exe on this Microsoft forum was the closest, I arrived to find an answer. When I tried the process a second time, I saw the PDFXML extension just below the PDF extension and took a shot at it.

Someone at Microsoft needs this fix to make accessible to all the users of Windows 7. I spent 3 hours on the phone with HP support, he tried the unassoc.exe and it did not work for him. I contact them to let them know about this - they put me on the phone with a Manager and he told me they had literally hundreds of phone calls about this.

It is relatively simple as you use and that you want to use WLM.

You will need to copy a folder from where it is (the old installation) to another place where you know it will be (for example on your desktop)

The folder is c:\users\your user name\app data (if it is not there, see the note below) \local\microsoft\

At that point you will see a folder named oddly enough "windows live mail" copy on your desktop

If you don't see the app data because it is invisible atm.  To make it visible, you need to go to your control panel > folder options > view > change to hidden folders (see figure)

Once you have mail backed up on your desktop (or where ever) drag the folder from the desktop to the location for the new WLM (once again we C;-... just like above).  Just make sure that WLM does not run in time.  What wont be imported, it of passwords and rules.

Accounts and data should now be in the new WLM when you open it.
