Windows 7 Media Center TV Tuner problem

I've upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate recently. Media Center has worked before with Vista. Windows 7 now has some compatibility issues with my current Conexant 23880 double entry tv tuner. So, a little irritated, I went out and bought a more compatible with Windows 7 MSI NTSC/ATSC Digi@nywhere analog/digital tv tuner. Then, when I try to access Windows Media Center to launch the TV Setup, I get a message: "TV Setup has encountered a serious problem. Click on terminer to finish out, and then try again. If the problem exists, restart the computer or Windows Media Center. "I've done both and none worked. I even had to run before mcupdate.exe I could go as far as the tuner. What a disaster. How Microsoft can say a tv tuner is compatible, but this does not work in Media Center. Is there a guru out there who can help me? The tuner works in MSI program. Thank you.    Glen

  • Qosmio G50 - cannot install the FM Tuner in Windows Vista Media Center?

Can someone help me get the most out of Windows Vista media center with my new Qosmio G50.

There is a tuner inside this laptop and I have the antenna and its plugged in. The drivers all seem to be installed but WMC tells me that I don't have the hardware to run FM stations and I can't make it work. Also, I can't record library but although I can't watch TV no problem at all.

Someone out there have the answer?

    Hello

Are you sure that your equipped G50 FM tuner to 100%?

As I know a few models of G50 has been equipped with a tuner TV with antenna TV port that allows to connect a coaxial cable to this port to watch a TV program and then save.
But as I said earlier, this feature is not included with all models of G50.

Sorry, but I didn't find any info regarding the FM tuner.

  • Problem, reinstall the Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

I have problems with MCE 2005.  My hard drive crashed and the technician that restored my repressive said that he could not work in MCE 2005.  It's a shame because he was working before the hard drive crashes.  I work with windows XP.
When I go to install the internet and begin to test the connection it gives me "Critical error of process - Code 2"
When I go to the TV configuration, it tells me "Tuner not found".  Even if I know it works because I also Win TV7 in Hauppauge. My TV tuner is HVR-1600.
With these problems, I thought that the solution might be to reinstall rollup 2 according to the Microsoft.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/910905
However, when I go to reinstall the Update Rollup 2, it seems to be to establish a restore point and then it stops when it hits hotfix (KB891593).
I took a copy of the mcelog and have attached a copy of the log below.

Assistance or management, you can provide me to solve this problem would be highly appreciated.

At this point, I'm a newbie to this and I don't have a clue as to the cause of my problems and any ideas you may have for me would be much appreciated.

We took the tour get served today and the technician could not find anything wrong, that he hung the Tower while I was in the store and everything worked very well he played TV programs that we previously recorded on the computer. On their return, I hooked the tower to have the same problem until I took the tour of duty please help with advice.

    Hi Kimberly MacDonald,.

    1. What is the full error message that you receive?

I suggest that you reconfigure the TV signal in the media center of Windows and check if it works.

one) to configure the tuner for use with Windows Media Center, on the Start screen, navigate to tasks.

    (b) click settings, click TV, and then click Set Up TV Signal.

  • Problem changing channels in Windows 7 Media Center

My Windows XP Media Center 2005 machine had a hard drive crash, and so I just replaced with a Windows 7 machine, also with a TV tuner.

Old set up has worked perfectly, blaster/transmitter infrared has been able to control the cable box - Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2200 to Comcast.

Set up the new machine, also with the IR Blaster.  New machine can change the channel correctly in 'Live TV'.  It works by pressing a channel upward / channel down, or entering the channel number.

But when machine is trying to change the channel to start a new record, or jump off the Media Center Guide, it shows that the first digit, and then displays the cable box '? "and does not change the channel.  So I think it's something that the decoder does not correctly or correctly, interpret or Windows has problems, change the signal.

I have experimented with different requirements of speed of IR and whether or not he must enter/OK but have not been able to make it work.

Thoughts of what he must try or change then?

    Thanks for any help.

Update on my original post.  I "think" I have success.  I am now able to change the channel using the guide and the system can change the channel while recording in the background.

I went from the Scientific American cable on a 'Digital Transport adapter"box that Comcast sent me.  The manufacturer of the box is listed as "Made in China for Technicolor", and is the model number: DCI105COM1.  The box is extremely

For the settings, I had to use: 3 digits, enter the channel number and the speed of the middle.

Let's give it a few weeks and see how it works and if there are differences in quality.

  • Setup live TV in Windows 7 Media Center hangs at «Downloading TV setup data»

Original title: Windows 7 Media Center live TV Setup

I have Windows 7 Home Premium on your desktop Gateway SX2840-01.  I have a HP usb TV tuner.  I'm unable to set up Media Center to receive television through the tuner.  Put in place hangs at the page «Downloading TV setup data»  It just stay there with no error message or another pop ups. The line of progression on the display benchmark does not advance.  If I run troubleshooting, this indicates a problem and "WITHOUT difficulty".  The same tuner hooked to another computer had no problem with installation and operation.  This computer has Win 7 and the same drivers downloaded from the Hauppauge web site that has the entry door.  Please give me some possible fixes to complete set upward on the bridge.  Thank you.

I solved the problem listed in the original post on this thread by disabling Windows Media Center and by removing all the files and folders in the shadow of Microsft eHome folder, then by restarting the computer.  I then enabled Windows Media Center and again rebooted the computer.  Of detailed instructions for each of these steps is available in Googleing or Windows support.

  • Windows 7 Media Center: scanning channels - System.EntryPointNotFoundException

My Windows 7 Media Center has worked very well for a few years, a few days ago, some television channels have lost their EPG and I then ran the channel scan who got in what relates to downloading the guide, then crashed as it seems to start to scan channels:

    System.EntryPointNotFoundException was not handled
Message = entry point was not found.
    Source = ehiProxy
    TypeName =""
    StackTrace:
    at ehiProxy.BackgroundScannerClass.StartScan)
    at MediaCenter.FirstRun.GlidServiceScanner.Start)
    at MediaCenter.FirstRun.ScanPage.StartScanners)
    at MediaCenter.FirstRun.ScanPage.StartScan)

    ...

I deleted it and reinstalled Media Center in Windows 7 features and erased, it has databases using "mcupdate - MediaCenterRecoveryTask" and deleted all the latest Windows updates (but not security patches) and I tried a different USB TV tuner but it always crashes.  As I know everything, but the channel scan works very well.  I don't often find chains so don't know when it went wrong, but can not think of a new software which would have affected it.

Probably the exception I have now two incompatible parts of the software on the machine, but what are they and how can I solve this problem?

    Ideas please...

Finally, I had all this work once again :)

To do this, I uninstalled all Windows updates and patches safety installed this year, uninstalled Windows Media Center from Windows features, rebooted and reinstalled Windows Media Center.

At this point, he still had the flaw.  Finally still with no idea of what could be the problem, I gave up, ran the scan channels one last time which failed, then reinstalled all the Windows updates, try running Windows Media Center Channel Scan again just in case, and it worked perfectly, the guide is also fully filled again.

I guess you updates of Windows was installed incorrectly and killed the Media Center channel scan.

    Thanks for trying to help.

  • Windows XP Media Center 2005 cannot connect to the Internet

    Dear all,

I'm having a problem with Windows XP Media Center 2005. The problem is that when I connect the cable from the modem to the laptop, I only send packets without receiving. The IP address I get is also 169.254.207.207, which is not a valid IP address to connect to the internet, and so I guess that something is blocking the laptop to get the IP address. Another thing I noticed is that when I turned off the modem and restart it, I have connectivity maybe 5 seconds and then return to no connectivity.

You guys can tell me what is the problem, and if I have to download something but in addition to the internet so that I can get my laptop to work. That said, I can connect to wireless with no problems.

Thanks for your help and your time

    Martyna

    Hello

Sorry for the question but what modem did you mean?
A simple analog modem or DSL (broadband) modem that supports support a LAN connection.
If you mean the second then I would check the TCP/IP settings in the properties of LAN card. The settings should be set to automatic

You should also check that you firewall settings.

  • Windows 7 media center tv guide planning lost .dll

My anti-virus found a .dll suspect something like a regular planning. I deleted the .dll file and it seems that it was necessary for the update to Windows 7 media center tv guide (now displays the available data). I have reset media center several times with no luck. Unfortunately, I can't restore to an earlier date or obtain the file from my Recycle Bin. I still have Windows 7 64 bit upgrade disk if I can find the name of the file and know where to copy it in.

    Thanks for your help,

    jqh947

    Hi jqh947,

    1. you remember which dll file has been deleted?

I would say Mr scanner SFC on the computer that would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.

The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista installation CD.

    original title: error with ehshell.exe

I have Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 with Service Pack 3 and I tried to run Media Center but I get an error message with ehshell.exe. Could you help me?

This problem exists since the 1st Media Center. SP2 and SP3 had a difficulty, but it is obvious that it doesn't always. The same problem still exists in Vista today with a lot of other carried over from XP. System restore would work, but you do not have any good restore points so reinstall an operating system seems to be your only option.

You probably don't want to do an OS reinstall you need for Media Center, but since it does not at all, you might want to play then remove the Media Center updates and or SP3 and reinstall them.
