Windows 7 on a NB100

I am wanting to replace the system linux on my NB100 with Windows - XP or 7, but cannot get it to load entirely without a notice of default to the blue screen to halfway through the installation. Any ideas?  :|

Theoretically, Linux can be a troublemaker... You must format all hard disk partitions, including Linux. Try this

  • No sticker with the license number Windows XP for Toshiba NB100

I lost the sticker with the license number Windows XP for Toshiba NB100. I have an invoice.
How can I recover the license number?

Licensed refused to support this topic.

    Hello

You can't get the license number.
First the sticker on the bottom of the unit has been a serial OEM key. This key cannot be used and would not work under Win XP installed system costs.

The point is that Toshiba image which was preinstalled on this laptop has already been activated, which means that this key has been useless.

I assume that you have not created a disk recovery Toshiba (or flash USB stick) in the past? Right?
These records would be reinstall the image of Toshiba containing the active Win XP system.

Well, usually it of possible to order this disc [here | http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx] but I think that would be more because of the age of the laptop.

Solution: you have to buy Win XP with valid serial key.

  • Re: Can I get original MS Windows XP CD for NB100?

    (1) do you know if Toshiba provides, on request, the original disk for Toshiba NB100 netbook to install Windows XP home?

    (2) I have the restore disk provided with the NB100 - but I think it's a * picture * of installation on the hard disk and not a real Windows XP Home install original disc standard. Is this true? I prefer the original disc so that I can control what is installed.

    (3) are downloadable Windows XP Home NB100 hardware drivers from the toshiba Web site?

    > 1) do you know if Toshiba provides, on request, the origin of Windows XP home install disk for Toshiba NB100 netbook?
No, you will not get a disk of Windows XP from Toshiba. You can only get a recovery disc that contains the image mentioned.

(> 2) I have the restore disk provided with the NB100 - but I think that it is an image of the installation on the hard disk and not a real Windows XP Home install original disc standard. Is this true? I prefer the original disc so that I can control what is installed.
It's true. The recovery disk contains an image. The image is a package that contains the Windows XP OS, drivers Toshiba, tools and additional software.

    >) are the Windows XP Home NB100 downloadable hardware drivers from the toshiba Web site?
Of course, you can download the drivers from Toshiba.

  • NB100 - 11G - HARD drive not detected during installation of Windows XP

I have a Toshiba NB100 - 11G with Win XP Home and a 160 GB HD RAM upgraded 1 024 to 2 GB. Recently, I tried to install Win Pro SP3. However, it did not work and the message was that the hard drive was not recognized. I have no problem restoring with the provided Toshiba Recovery CD (which has Win XP Home).

Does anyone have an idea why I couldn't install Win XP Pro? Could it be related to my RAM upgrade? (The only thing I changed.)

Thanks for a response. Sincerely, Allan.

    Hello

The problem is that you integrate the driver SATA Windows XP can detect the internal HARD drive. Otherwise, you get a blue screen or the HARD drive is not detected.

With the help of nLite (freeware tool), you can create a new drive to install XP with SATA driver package. This is described here:

  • Windows does not start on my NB100

I think that my nb100 has been infected by a virus. It was a strange virus scan and I couldn't do anything. I turned it off and now Windows will not boot. I tried all the option; mode without failure, safe mode with command etc, but nothing works. I can not throw the product recovery disc because this netbook doesn't have a cd player. Can anyone help?

    > . I can not throw the product recovery disc because this netbook doesn't have a cd player.

I know, you could do a usb recovery media. Anyway, if you have not done so, you must obtain windows copy disk and usb flash drive > then to make a bootable USB to install windows.

  • NB100 and graphics issues in Vista and Windows 7

    Hi all.

I have two NB100s and I wanted to upgrade to Windows 7. Everything went well until what the graphics driver has been loaded. Responses of the screen were as refresh once per second 5, then also the system froze for a few seconds - impossible to work on it. The case even on the two NB100s and even with the new drivers from Windows update. I'm curious to know what is the problem, because a lot of guys have written that they are running windows 7 and everyting is ok right after installation. I tried Windows Vista and the same situation has occurred. The only way I can use it with Windows 7 is to use the XP drivers. But then the aero glass does not. I just got idea if there is no problem with the new bios 1.6. It seems that other older guys NB100 and use Windows 7. Could someone help me? Has anyone tried Windows 7 with bios 1.6? THX.

    Hello!

I think the problem is that you are using a beta version of the operating system and not a final version and these errors are normal because nobody can say that Windows 7 beta runs perfectly and without problems on all laptops or computers.

However, see the Intel Web site for the latest drivers. Perhaps there is a newer version than on the Windows Update Web site.

    Good bye

  • NB100 implemented black screen after Windows (with bar)

    Hello
    I have laptop nb100.

My Windows XP is not loading (learn how to Windows with screen bar, then it blocks black).

I thought just re-intall Windows XP, so I tranfered my WinXP to .iso format and placed on my formatted USB (XP and .iso seem well).

I changed my computer to boot from USB and f12 on start up and it goes to the USB port, no probs. Then, I get a black screen with these choices:

1, text-mode Setup (flash start again after)
2nd, continuous mode GUI installation, setup + 1 start windows
---> DEBUGGING Options. Try if you have the hal.dll error<>
Debug the rdisk 1 2 boot partition
Debug the rdisk 1 3 boot partition
Debug the rdisk 1 4 boot partition
Debug the rdisk 2 1 boot partition
Debug the rdisk 2 2 boot partition
Debug the 2 3 rdisk boot partition
Debug the 2 4 rdisk boot partition

Option: text-mode installation 1, (start to flash again after).
kicks in a blue screen with the Windows installation
    wallpaper load some info
then it crashes on Setup starts windows

I have Win Xp SP2, was originally installed SP3, but can not find the drive (have to SP2 and 3) so I have Win XP SP2 through ISO then installed on usb (not sure if that is the question)

All I want is to re - install the computer (no I have not re - install discs), so I thought it would be easier to re XP - install.

    Any assistance received very highly.

    Thanks in advance :)

    Hello

    > so I tranfered my WinXP in .iso format and put on my formatted USB key

Sorry, man, but I did not understand how you have transferred it.

I advise to get windows copy disk and USB drive to make a bootable usb drive to install windows.

You can make a USB bootable in 2 ways:

    1. manually with the command prompts

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=53324&TSTART=60

2 automatically using programs such as WinSetupFromUSB or Novicorp WinToFlash

    Hello

    > New drivers, but I don't know where to find them.
You can find the Toshiba drivers European driver download page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

But you have reinstalled Windows now or why does not work?

If you have reinstalled Windows make sure that Service Pack 3 is installed before starting with the installation of the audio driver. It contains a major update for this.

  • NB100 - bottom of 10mm of touchpad not responding is not in Windows XP

    Hi all

I bought the NB100 Ubuntu version and have been very happy with it.
Because I like to tinker, I installed XP on it to see how it would compare.
So far, I prefer the version of XP, but I have a little problem, and I don't know if it is normal that the version of Windows?

I have install the Synaptics driver, and the touchpad works very well except for one thing.
The pad simply does not meet a vertical movement in the bottom of 10mm or more, even if it does not meet the horizontal movement.

It is also very well - it's as if the driver thinks that the touchpad is smaller than is it supposed to be 10mm.
I disabled all of the advanced features of the driver, with the exception of the vertical scrolling support (and I think + I tried just turning out too).

Also has anyone seen this problem?
Is it possible to 'train' the driver to recognize the lower part of the cushion?

    Thank you

    Graeme

Could at least tell me that their NB100 (XP) does the same thing?

It's OK on the default Windows driver, so I use that for the moment, but I have which gives me all the most useful features of the Synaptics software :(

  • NB100: upgrading the BIOS to 1.90 in Windows XP edition family, now Ubuntu freezes on login

As the said line topic. I've updated the BIOS on our NB100 to 1.90 in Windows XP, and now Linux (ubuntu) freezes on login. We organize one machine dual boot and WXP still works fine. Ubuntu freezes completely when you open a session and full charge of gui.

I suspect that the network hardware is the issue.

Any ideas? The bios can be restored to an earlier version? I have not found on this site.

    Dan

Perhaps a BIOS setting was handed to the default or changed.

Try to set the SATA mode in mode "Compatibility" or "IDE".

  • Impossible to get my USB keyboard to wake up sleep NB100 - (Windows 7)

I use a monitor, USB wireless mouse and a wired keyboard USB with my NB100.

My keyboard has a power button and it is configured to put the computer in mode standby when you press on, which works very well. My problem is that the only way I can wake up the computer is to press a key on the keyboard built-in the NB100, pressing anything on my USB keyboard does nothing.

I went into the Device Manager and unchecked "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and also turned on in the BIOS, but it still doesn't work.

I would really like to get this sorted out I have the NB100 tucked out of sight and it is a bit of a pain to have to dig, open the cover and press the space bar, whenever I want to wake up the computer :-(

    Any ideas anyone?

  • NB100 - windows open at startup

I hope someone can advise me with what is probably a simple question.

I use a NB100 running Windows XP Home Edition. There is I believe that some utilities running who remember that the windows are open, when I stopped the netbook, and who then reopens them when I then start it. Can someone tell me how can I disable this feature, because it's driving crazy me and (b) I can't find how to turn it off!

    Thank you.

There are utilities, you can install that will remember your applications open to restarting. "SmartClose" is one of them, google is your friend.

  • Re: NB100-12: cannot install Windows XP

I cannot install the operating system to start, for a clean installation, the cd boots and seems to start installation, drivers etc. start loadind
Then before you get to the point "want install you windows page, an error message appears saying my HARD drive is damaged or has a virus?"

    Any ideas?

I can't really help, but I see the same problem :( I tried XP, 2000 and server 2003 installation CD. Either I get the same message you saw, or Installer Blue-screens.

I've seen it suggested elsewhere to change the SATA in the BIOS from AHCI to compatibility, but that does not help either.

I have to admit, it's as if the Windows Installer has problems see the hard drive, but I don't know what to do about this. Install a different disk drive, maybe?
