Windows 7 Professional do not support 4 GB of RAM

Hello

I have a dell 1525 and recently upgraded to level of RAM 4 GB, but I see only 3.49 GB usable. As a result of http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa366778%28v=vs.85%29.aspx windows 7 Professional should see 4 GB of RAM. Someone at - it the same problem?

Hello

Thanks much for the reply.

You are welcome. Happy to help you.

In other words, none of the 32 bit windows versions will see my 4 GB of total RAM can also be used? Unfortunately windows 64-bit is not a solution now because my portable architecture is not supported in the 64-bit addressing. Your explanation makes sense, and I thank you for this, but for example if I put only 3 GB, why the material not to use too much memory and makes its use for me only 2.5 GB?

Please reread the last paragraph of my previous message: "Note that".
the material is by using the address space, not the RAM real itself.
If you have a larger amount of RAM, the rest of the RAM goes unused
«because there is no address to map space to.»

So with 3 GB of RAM, the material would always use the last .5GB of this
4 GB of address space and have no effect on your 3 GB of RAM.

One point remains: you're apparently upset because you can use
4 GB of RAM. But keep in mind that how you can effectively use
depends on what applications you are running. You didn't say what you run, but for
most of the people running a range of typical business applications, is 3.5 GB
more than enough and they see no improvement in performance
If they had more usable RAM.

  • Windows Media Player does not support the codec used to compress the file.

I can't do some of my videos to play it goes on to say that Windows media player does not support the codec used to compress the file. How can I fix?

    Hello

What is the file format of the video files you are trying to play in Windows Media Player?

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file.

You may encounter this error message for the following reasons:

    (a) the file type is supported by the drive, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.

    (b) the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.

Windows media player will play only the files and videos only if it supports this type of file.

Please see the bottom of the article that gives you information on the types of media files that supports Windows Media Player.

If the files are not supported by Windows media player, then you will need to use a few players from third party that supports this file format.

  • Windows XP Professional is not opening properly and does not. Programs do not open.

I just bought a laptop T2 used IBM with Windows XP Professional installed. The computer worked perfectly until I downloaded the Verizon WiFi software. Before you download the software, the Verizon site instructed me to download Net Framework and SP3, and then the software from Verizon. After the download, the computer, for all purposes, ceased to operate. Specifically, the boot sequence until Windows loads works, then loads Windows slowly - 5 to 10 minutes for each step. My office opens thereafter, but the programs do not respond. I can open the control panel and eventually open Add/Remove Programs, but cannot remove programs. I tried to use the restore of the system without success.

I tried to use the Safe Mode, but cannot use it to remove programs. I own a copy of Winows XP Home Edition, version update and since the computer has no files on what I need, I'd be happy to use Winodws XP Home Edition instead of the professional edition, but don't know if I can install Windows XP from the disk to upgrade.

    Bailiwick,
I suggest that you try a clean boot.  Follow the steps in this article to resolve problems with a clean boot.

Advanced problem resolution by clean restart.

Insofar as you use your XP Home disk, it will not work to upgrade the XP Pro that is already on the system

  • How to uninstall the windows 7 Professional genuine not and install windows family premium software legall cd already purchased

    Friends,

I bought a second hand PC in which "Windows 7 Professional" operating system installed. is not not to be true.

I bought a CD for 'Windows 7 Home Premium' a dealer of Microsoft in India which Iwant install now, after uninstalling the existing one.

I don't have any reliable support to get this done.

I can get advice through email step by step please.

    Kind regards

There is no need to uninstall anything, as such.

Simply start on DVD - you may need to change the BIOS boot sequence - and follow the instructions, you will have an option to format the drive existing at a given time, and you should do it.

Note that this will wipe the drive clean - back up all data you must first of all external media.

  • Windows 7 Professional is not compatible with the WPS ENABLED?

    Hi all:
I have a desktop (HP Pro 3500 Series) with Windows 7 Professional and another laptop (HP COMPAQ CQ58) with Windows 8, 1 pro.
My internet provider is Jasstel, and it worked perfectly in my two computers.
I decided to activate the WPS of the router (comtred AR 5387un) and they started the problems. The laptop with Windows 8, 1 runs normally.
The desktop with Windows 7 without work and it does not allow the connection to the Internet. The generated error is security configuration, it is incorrect.
I erased the net so that I have again the password. You ask that I introduce the safety key from the net. I introduce the key (which she's right, because it works in another computer), and he told me that I should he Nail or the sentence of the password is not right and there is not the case.
The only thing you change is the operating system. Windows 7 is not compatible with active WPS?
I thank any help no I don't know what to do.

    Hello colambrero,

This model is a class computer business and would be better asked in the forum of the Business Enterprise community.

Here is the link to the appropriate section. http://h30499.www3.HP.com/T5/business-PCs-Compaq-Elite-Pro/BD-p/BSC-271

    I offer you my thoughts.

I was wondering why you have decided to activate the WPS? It's easier to connect wifi devices but also creates security problems.  WPA2 with a good password is more reliable in my opinion.

In addition, your Wifi adapter must be compatible WPS and I can't confirm if your model has one or not (I assume it does).

Windows 7 that has Service Pack 1 installed? SP1 has a fix for problems with connections WPS for Windows 7.

Personally, I would consider not not using WPS for security issues.

Here is an article to example of Sophos Security explaining why not to use WPS.

  • Uploaded image of Windows 7 Professional will not accept the product key that came with my computer.

I have a Dell laptop, Studio, approximately 1 year, delivered with Windows 7 Professional installed - the label with the genuine product key is located at the bottom of the laptop. Shortly after I got it I deleted the recovery partition to make room for Linux installed next to Windows. I had problems with Windows system (mainly caused by me bad installation software and drivers without proper backups) so I decided to reinstall Windows. I had already deleted the recovery partition and wouldn't use it anyway because I prefer a clean system without unwanted from the manufacturer in this regard. I did not receive a Windows operating system installation DVD with my computer, so I downloaded a (64-bit Windows 7 Professional, the same as the original operating system) which already had SP1 on it (the version of Win7Pro installed Dell's not SP1). I installed Windows on this drive and attempted to activate using the product key that came with my computer, but it would not accept the key. I don't have time to try to solve this problem, but now the period of one month is up and my computer does not work correctly.
I suspect that the problem may be due to me using the SP1 disc. If this is the case, should I reinstall Windows again? I have * NOT * GOING to buy another product key when I have already paid for a genuine version of Windows. I just want to be able to use my computer without the ridiculous slowdowns caused by pre-installed software and the way I chose.

Thanks for any help with this problem, I really need fo fix my computer.

original title: Activation error, Windows 7 Professional
    Windows product key: *-* - M3DJT - 4J3WC-733WD
    Windows license Type: OEM SLP

The key to your report is your OEM SLP key which can not be activated. This isn't the key to COA.

but the key I tried to use is what I copied on the COA the day I got the computer of the book where I put all the information on my computers.

Is the product key in your book is the partial key in your report?
You must change the product key to the one on your COA.
Check your compartment of the COA.
The other solution is to reinstall your Dell OEM recovery disks or recovery partition. This self will activate your computer.
    Additional information:

Computers, which are built by large manufacturers provided with pre-installed Windows are supplied with 2 two product keys:

    (A) OEM SLP: this key comes pre-installed in Windows, when it comes to the factory. This key is designed to work with the special instructions isn't on the hardware of this manufacturer. Then, when Windows was installed using the OEM SLP (in factory) Windows 7 key leans on the motherboard and he sees special instructions and activates. (that's why you had no need to turn on your computer after you brought it home)

    (B) COA SLP: it's the product key that you see on the sticker on the side (or at the bottom, [or in the battery compartment]) of your computer. It is a valid product key, but must be used only in certain situations (for example, if the OEM SLP key stops automatic activation for a reason any). The key must be activated by phone. (Note: all manufacturers that use the SLP OEM system are bound by contract to include a certificate of Authenticity sticker (COA), which has a COA SLP key, on the computer)
