• Windows 8 cannot be activated, threshold continue to increase

  Hi guys,.

  All my windows 8 can not be activated. Can anyone help?

  Phenomenon:

  1. all 8 windows remain inactive, all R2 Datacenter 2012 Server enabled.

  2 to host KMS, the stop threshold increase for 2 days (current number is 13)

  3. in the KMS host, I can see the event as there are so many CMID duplicates.

  4. in Vcenter (view composer), there are a few errors (event ID: 8198, License Activation (slui.exe) failed with the following error code: hr = 0xC004F074)

  Thanks guys, I fixed temporarily this problem. Now all my customers to win8 are enabled.

  What I did: in some clones bloodlines, I manually run slmgr /rearm, then restart, then slmgr /ato; I see every time I did, the threshold that would increase. Finally after the reached threshold 25 and less than 2 hours, all virtual machines enabled.

  What I think: somehow some pools (pool of students and personnel pool) share the same CMID (SID), which cause the threshold of virtual machine stay in 13 (because I also a few 2012 R2 datacenter server);  slmgr /rearm give virtual machine activates a new CMID, after slmgr-ato, the machine virtual wil contact my KMS host and increase the number, finally number of MILES reached 25, and then activated all the vm.

  Reason?  Is sharing same CMID due quickprep vms? I use sysprep to initiate my vm (Gold Master) parent, then recreate linked clone pool?  Yet the confusion and need some tests?

  Nice day. Sorry in advance for my bad English.

  I want to use Quickprep for customization of the clones of the view. I have KMS server on Win 2008R2 for Win7 desktop computers. Quickprep generates a new SID and thus does not counter the KMS server. I have inevitable counter KMS by Sysprep clones and then Quickprep clones have no problem with the activation of Win. But today, I noticed that this counter has dropped (now less than 25 requests). After that, I saw this thread Volume KMS Activation : "KMS there are only attempts to activation for 30 days, so if less than 25 computers and/or servers have been online in the last month then the count will fall below the threshold of activation for Windows 7. So, what should I do? After recompose clones need activate Windows, but there are not enough applications on the KMS server. Best practices? Or should I use Sysprep (as I did before)?

  Ah, forget it, just use Sysprep instead of Quickprep. Don't want to keep separated 25 machines with different CMID or to increase the KMS count each month.

• Windows Server 2012R2 KMS Activation Key - do not increase

  Hi all

  I managed to set our key KMS data center on a dedicated server of KMS in our Organization. The KMS server is published in DNS (nslookup-type = _vlmcs._tcp = all OK). I started to install different Windows ("autonomous" and facilities of VDI) 2012R2 servers, however the number of KMS does not increase even if I have activated at least 30 machines. Note that our facility is for key KMS data center of Windows Server edition 2012R2, no office or Win7/8/10 KMS key.

  The current number is set to "10" (all the time).

  I also tried to broaden the pool of the VDI, but the number remains the same.

  I did not CMID duplicate, I don't have a rogue KMS server (and clients are not directed to another KMS server - we have only a KMS server in our Organization).

  I haven't added any hardware lately, so I don't really have any idea why this is happening all of a sudden.

  Almost forgot to mention, the last days I'm on another Site of our society and it seems that some users more have this problem here.

  At the beginning we had some problems with rogue KMS hosts (clients installed with the wrong key, and then they began to behave like a KMS host), but this has been fixed.

  I see activation all requests come to the KMS host.

  Someone at - it an idea?

  With luck, validate the installation using Internet Explorer to www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate simply deletes this error and the machine turns real new.

• Windows 2012 R2 RDS as a Host parent vm for the linked clones

  I want to set a Windows server 2012 R2 with RDS enabled as a parent vm for a pool of "desktop" clone bound (using quickprep).

  After you create the pool, I want to use this clones related as hosts for a farm RDS RDS.

  I use view 6.1 and vSphere 6...

  Is this possible?

• Quickprep creates the new object ORGANIZATIONAL unit but clone is not renamed.

  I'm having a problem create clones related with Windows 7.

  I followed all of the guides and troubleshooting I can find, but still at loss as to what is happening.

  Created parent VM

  Updated according to the directives of the optimization guide, material according to the directives of the optimization guide

  Reinstalled VMware tools

  Published intellectual property

  Stop parent VM

  Created the snapshot

  Put into service a new linked clone from parent VM

  New virtual machine created, starts, runs without error

  Quickprep creates a new computer object in the OU that is specified in the customization of comments

  Nothing else is done I can work on

  Linked clone is accessible, and I can log in with the domain administrator account

  Linked clone still has parent VM name and DNS and DHCP it still consider the name of parents

  No log is created on the linked clone, so I don't know what is wrong

  According to the events in VMware View Administrator, 1 hour after the video settings are configured, the customization is to expire.

  No errors in the log events windows on the linked clone

  If it were a physical computer, it would be 12 stories down in a bin at the moment!

  You also resinstall the view Agent? (VMware Tools and view Agent is not the same thing.)

• Sysprep before you deploy with quickprep?

  We have deployed Win7 for laptop computers and physical dekstops two years ago and we are very well using Microsoft WSIM tool to generate an unattend.xml file and then use it to Syprep machines before grabbing an image. The sysprep process works very well to make sure customizations that are made while installing and tweaking software are deferred. Two easy examples:

  • The first time that Acrobat Reader is started there is a splash screen that disappears once you press on the button accept. Sysprep allows you to make sure that this setting (start screen has already been fired) door on end users never see the start screen
  • We use sysprep to place shortcuts for Word, Excel, and Powerpoint in the system tray

  We believe the use of Sysprep first to block all our customizations and then to deploy using Quickprep so SIDS to change and the machines are connected to the domain. What is a good way to do?

  I know that we can use Sysprep in the view while rotating the clones but sysprep takes some time to run so we thought that it better to use sysprep on the image main and quickprep to deploy

  Yes, you can use to 1 with Sysprep and Quickprep will change the CMID so that it activates properly.

• Activation of Windows 7 with linked clones

  Hi all, I know that this has been discussed in previous posts, but I think I need some clarification. We use View 4.6 and I noticed that, in some cases (not all the time) when someone connects to your desktop of Windows 7 linked clone the message 'Windows is now activated' appears in the lower right. Other times I check and said BONE it will be self-activated in 3 days.

  The main image has been activated using our key to activate Multiple (MAK), and we do not have a Service (KMS) key management server.

  We are encouraged to move to a system of authorisation KMS on the master server. Here are my questions...

  1. what happens if I do nothing and we run out of activations? Someone wouldn't have to be connected for 3 days for the timeout to occur? It seems to turn on only when someone connects (AFAIK). What is when to start the countdown 3?

  2. what happens if we change the option in the registry (AllowActivateMAKLicense) to activate QuickPrep activate using MAK? Everyone does, what are the advantages and disadvantages.

  3. what happens if I change the SkipLicenseActivation registry entry? It's basically what I'm doing now and let Windows activate itself when someone connects?

  4. If I should not pass master image to use a KMS how to do that? I wouldn't have to rebuild the image from scratch.

  5 is there any difference between using the "Refresh" vs "Delete" option pool after disconnect in what concerns the way the OS license is activated? If I update will keep the activated license?

  Actually, we had a similar problem as you with our base images. We built the images with the MAK and after that, it was discovered the problem in doing so. You can also change the types of licenses in your images in database easily. Try this page for more information: How to use the Volume Activation Management Tool or tool VAMT | The Windows Club

  This tool is very good in what it can tell you what type of licenses that you use MS product to you and you can use it to change the keys.

• Windows 7 license activation

  We start using Windows 7 Professional in our view environment 4.6. Effort will be Win 7 VMs as linked clones. We use a Microsoft Volume License (MS Select without SA for now, but will move to select more). My question is how are my licenses counted on the Microsoft side whenever I have reconstruct my linked clone pool. For example, lets say I have 20 licenses of Windows 7 and I'm building a pool of cloning related to 20 mV. If I recompose the MS pool sees me trying to use another 20 licenses or original activation will stick. What is the best practice here to manage the licenses of Windows 7 and related clones.   To follow the activation threshold, the KMS host keeps a record of KMS client computers that require activation. The KMS host gives each KMS client computer ID (CMID) client machine designation and the KMS host records each CMID in a table. Each activation request remains in the table for 30 days. When a client renews its activation, the cached CMID is removed from the table, a new record is created, and the 30-day period begins again. If a KMS client computer does not renew its activation within 30 days, the KMS host removes the CMID of the table and reduces the number of activations.

  The KMS host is cached twice the number of CMIDs that require KMS clients in order to ensure that the CMID County does not drop below the activation threshold. For example, on a network with client computers running Windows 7, the KMS activation threshold is 25, then KMS host puts caches the CMIDs of the last 50 activations. The KMS for Windows Server 2008 R2 activation threshold is 5. A KMS host that is contacted only by client computers KMS running Windows Server 2008 R2 would be to cache the most recent CMIDs 10. If a client computer running Windows 7 later comes into contact with this KMS host, KMS increases the size of the cache to 50 to accommodate the higher threshold. KMS never reduced the size of the cache.

  KMS does not limit the number of machines that are activated, the FAQ Post indicates that you can use the same key to cover several agreements and activate these machines with the only key. You don't have to add licenses, since it does not limit in KMS.

• I resized the Partition Mac to make more space for BootCamp and now Windows will not boot

  On a collague MacBook Air running 10.11.4, we used disk utility to reduce the Mac Partition so that we could then use a Windows tool to extend the BootCamp partition. However, upon restart, we got a BACK screen with the error that Windows cannot start because it cannot find the boot device.

  This is not a mechanism supported by Apple to change the size of the Windows partition. Apple supports the remove/reinstall only.

• Bootcamp Windows - partition cannot be mounted

  Hey all,.

  I've been using Windows on my iMac (late 2012, Yosemite 10.10.5) without problem but today after I started MacOS Yosemite (to control simple file), cannot start again to return to Windows. Had no problem Bootcamp before... have not used to any advantage either 3rd disk utility. The only thing I have recently increased the Windows size 200 GB partition by decreasing the MacOS partition through disk utility (a month ago, no problem since then until today)

  1. Windows has disappeared from the startup disk

  

  2. disk utility shows disk0s4 gray and cannot be mounted. In addition, the correct partition size was 700 but here its listed as 500 GB GB (which was the old size before you increase it)
