Windows 7 Start Search does not work
When I had Windows XP and cannot find a file, we will say something like Kelly.jpg, all I had to do was type in the search engine and find it. Since the upgrade to Vista, then 7, I find nothing. I want to know absolutely for certain that I named a document or a jpg file or another, but he won't.

Downloaded Firefox 38.0.1 and now edit/search does not work.
The Question above about nearly everything.
I downloaded Firefox 38.0.1 (I'll never learn) and now edit/search does not work. The search at the bottom of my screen bar disappeared and clicking on EDIT and SEARCH does nothing. Also, Ctl - F does nothing.
FYI, using Windows 8.1.
Someone actually check the compatibility with desktop computers and laptops on the news, or is it more important to be compatible with smart phones?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.
- Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
- Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

No list of programs and launch the search does not work.
Last year a virus creeped into my system. After I couldnot find and delete I ran combofix that seems to help eliminate the virus. However, I have a lot of files and corrupted files in my system that I don't recognize. also, my search for the Start button does not work after this difficulty and "all programs" list has disappeared. I recently found that I have to do a system restore but my dates do not go too far before the virus. What should I do? I have a 32-bit windows vista system.
Thank you.The best way to get rid of the shinannigans on your computer is to reload windows itself with the multimedia installation/installation partition if you have one. If this is not the case, I suggest to download and run Microsoft Security Essentials http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/mse.aspx this is a free anti-virus MS. Try creating a new account on your computer and connection in there to see if your search bar and list of program starts working again:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/create-a-user-account?SignedIn=1
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/change-a-users-account-type
For these two make sure you click on my computer is on a workgroup for instructions and follow the steps in BOTH of the links
If they then delete your old account and just use the new using Microsoft Security Essentials.
I hope this helps!

No matter what I do, I can't find Vista to work - most of the time, the search will not find the files I'm looking for, although I can see them at the top of the list of files in the directory. I rebuilt the index multiple times with no improvement in the service. In another case, the search will find only files created in October 2009 (that is when I started using Vista), but specific searches do not work in other files, that I moved all the files in this folder to another folder and the result is the same, even if the file is renamed to something different. I also noticed that, in some cases, research fails to recognize a file named re and get back a result if I search the name of the original file (even if the file name has changed significantly).
Simply, research of simple file names which I am accustomed to years of XP do not bring the results I need. I have same useless content search function at all. It was recommended that I find a simple program of research of third party for searches of files, but that's not really answering the question.
I guess I would rather just turn the indexing function OFF set (that I tried), but it does not appear to improve the ability of Vista to find the files I need.

Search does not work in HCM9.1, pt8.52 after installation
Hi I just installed HCM9.1 with Peopletools 8.52 on windows xp 32-bit with Oracle 11 g. This is my first install ever.
When I connect online search does not work (when I click on search on any page that contains a search record it just shows that progress gif image but nothing happens.)
I logged in using PS/PS
any ideas of what I was wrong during installation?
Here are the steps I followed.
1-install Oracle11g
Logic 2-installs web
3. installation of Tuxedo and defined TUX_DIR
PeopleTools 4-installs in C:\pt8.52 and HCM9.1 in c:\hcm9.1 n Verity
5. manually created a database named HRSD by using initHRSD.ora and configured the listner and ORACLE_SID, ORACLE_HOME defined and created the spfile.
then ran the scripts in the documentation to create namespaces, roles, the dbowner etc.
6 set the application designer
7 - loged in Data Mover and installed a demo hcm9.1
8 - ran grant.sql
9 - ran pt851u.sql and pt852u.sql.
10 configured application server and started.
Created a new domain and configured and that you started it. 8 process start
11 set up the web server and started the PIA.
12 - loged in successfully but the search does not work

9 - ran pt851u.sql and pt852u.sql.HCM9.1 is now delivered based on Peopletools 8.51 (since Peature Pack 1, Dec-2010), you should successfully upgrade to make it work on Peopletools 8.52. However, you've made a mistake here, you should not run rel851, but only rel852. Second mistake, being HCM9.1 > = 9.0, you must run rel852un not rel852u. These errors can explain much of the search does not work. Not to mention the copy projects and a couple of AE to run.
Delete the database and restarting from scratch is probably the best way to make you application is working correctly.Nicolas.

Help
Hello rockys_rod,
To fix it, simply remove your old library files. Then have Windows Media Player find your new files. It will not destroy your music files.
How to get WMP to re - index your music:

2. click on Start and then run
3. in the box, type the following:
[list] %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player4. click on OK and a folder containing your library files will be displayed
5. delete all files ending with .wmdb
6. open Microsoft Media Player
7. press F3
8. Select the addresses of your music files
9 WMP will re-index your music. If this does not help, try the FixIt in the article below:

Do not have access to Safe Mode if you ignore the system restore and click on the button on the Start Menu? Your initial problems are repeated in this case?
If you can access Safe Mode things, see if it will help you create another user, and it will allow to test this new user in Normal Mode of loading.
Also, if you can in Mode safe, download and run this program in mode safe mode and let it scan your computer for malware.
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
http://www.Malwarebytes.org/MBAM.phpTry this mode safe too. Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click on your drive icon / properties / tools / error checking. Try first by checking do not each box (that it will run in read-only mode) to see if it reports any problems file or hard drive. If so, restart it by checking both boxes and restart to allow him to attempt to fix any problems found.
If Safe Mode is not an option for you, see if you can access options of startup repair (be it to start any Windows Vista DVD or the Safe Mode screen options).
