Windows 7 system error 1231 network location is not reachable

I have a Win7 Ultimate domain member with a static IP address. Recently I discovered that I can't seem to use NetBIOS over TCPIP or similar to remote machines.  If I try to map a drive to a UNC I get an error 1231 about a network location that is not reachable.  Same result if used the remote IP instead of the netbios name.  I ping the remote server without error.  If I try something like a clear view on a remote server, it fails, but it works locally.  I created a share on Win7 box and I see another customer. I can not just make network connections.

NetBT is running.  NetBios over TCP/IP is enabled.

I disabled the NETWORK card and re-enabled.  I disabled TCPIP, re-activated and even re-installed IPv4.

Nbtstat-n displays the name of the office.

There is no LMHosts file used.

Firewall is completely turned off and no antivirus is running or even installed also.

I am short of ideas short of re - install the operating system.

Summary: I can't map or view resources netbios on the network, but I can create shares on Win7 and communicate with them remotely.

I need a new set of eyes. Suggestions?

SOLVED

I thought that something had to be corrupted.  I uninstalled the file and print on the adapter Services then reinstalled. Rebooted and now I'm back to where I need to be. Jeffery Hicks

    Hello

    I am running Windows XP SP3 on a Dell Latitude E5500 with a Broadcom Netxtreme 57xx NIC Ethernet. My problem is that I can connect to any and all work and home sharing without any problem more wireless network but cannot do on my connection to the local network.
    I can assure you that
    (a) I ping well resources through the LAN IP addresses and
    (b) can connect to the Internet through the LAN.
    I have also updated my driver Broadcom for later, in vain.
    I also tried several other suggestions such as
    (a) verifying that the computer browser service is running
    (b) verification of correct TransportBindName and SMBDeviceEnabled entries in the registry
    (c) manually the battery to reset TCP/IP
    (d) to uninstall and reinstall the Client for Microsoft networks
    (e) NetBT enabled on the NETWORK adapter
    among other things, all to nothing does not.
    I am also aware that this problem applies to my wired LAN connection and not my wireless LAN, seeming so for me at least to make some of the suggestions above irrelevant or redundant.
    I was wondering if anyone else had other suggestions (in addition to the upgrade to Windows 7, I know, I know, must find the time).
    THX in advance

    Hi, thanks for the advice.

    During the last hour, I solved the problem of UN-installing my Broadcom NIC in device and then allowing Windows to re - Manager install automatically on reboot. Although I'm positive that I've done this before (all the symptoms point to a problem with the drivers for cards/rather than any how important Microsoft / edition) on this occasion, it worked, if everything goes well on a permanent base.

  • Windows 7 network location are not accessible using browse folder

    In windows XP, the network locations added will be in my network in place. But in windows 7, the network locations that I've added will be in 'my computer '. But these network locations are not accessed by using the file browse some software. Thus, it became a problem now. I don't want to use the network card as it will add a drive letter in my computer. How do I add network locations so that it is accessible by using the option to browse the folder.

  • Script to add a domain user to the local Administrators group raises the error "the network path is not found."

    I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 domain and a Windows XP Pro workstation that has been attached to the domain and then disconnected. I am trying to create a VBS script to add a domain user to the local Administrators group.

    I log on my computer as a local administrator and run the following script:

    Dim oNetwork: Set oNetwork = WScript.CreateObject ("WScript.Network")
    StrPC Dim: strPC = oNetwork.ComputerName
    Dim OGroup: Set oGroup = GetObject ("WinNT: / /" & strPC & "/ directors")
    Dim OUser: Set oUser = GetObject ("WinNT://domainname/username")
    oGroup.Add (oUser.ADsPath)

    This script returns the error "the network path is not found."

    However, I am able to go into control panel > user accounts > enter the user name and the domain name > click Next... > choose the administrators of the 'other' group and the user name will be added to the local Admin group.

    The same script runs without error if it is launched after logon on the workstation with a domain administrator account.

    How can I get my script runs without error, when you are logged into the workstation as a local administrator?

    Best regards, Andy

    The code that I used came from here. If the syntax of the Add method is passed to oUser.ADsPAth to "WinNT: / /" & domainname & "/" & username, the script works correctly.

    Therefore, the modified script:

    Dim oNetwork: Set oNetwork = WScript.CreateObject ("WScript.Network")
    StrPC Dim: strPC = oNetwork.ComputerName
    Dim OGroup: Set oGroup = GetObject ("WinNT: / /" & strPC & "/ directors")
    Dim strUser: strUser = "WinNT://domainname/username."
    oGroup.Add strUser

    Thanks to Qasim Zaidi to show the code of work here.

    Best regards, Andy

    (1) what is the user id you are using OEM fior?

    The user id should have Sysdba and should not be in the role SYSASM.

    (2) in order to check your port

    In server, in the gate of the House, listener, lsnrctl status--> Verify asm instance listed on your listening port.

    Summary of endpoints listening...

    (Check that the PORT and IP information is correct)

    Instance '+ ASM1' READY State, has 1 operation for this service...

    (3) in addition, connect to asm and check the connection

    Show u local_listener and entered into OEM parameter details are correct.

    (4) OEM, I think you add Cluster_ASM.

    Oracle_home_path--> you're grid House

    username--> with sysdbarole

    --> Sysdba role

    Cluster_name--> $GRID_HOME/bin/cemutlo - n

  • I/o error: the network adapter could not establish the connection: connection to oracle database

    Hello

    I am not able to connect to the Oracle SQL developer database. I said / 0 error: the network adapter could not establish the connection.

    I started the listener, but what I see is, it points to a different IP address instead of the IP address of the host. How to change the name of host or IP address.

    I see that it points to the host name in listener.ora.

    Attached the screenshot

    Can someone help me solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance

    What he says is the listener.ora file is not necessary to start the listener.  If you rename, then start the receiver, then start the db, after a minute or two, the db should automatically register with the listener and then you can make a tnsping or otherwise connect to the database through the listener.

    I'm not entirely sure what's going on with your image, but I can't help but wonder if somehow something is not what you expect with the investigation period, whenever it starts.

    So use lsnrctl status lsnrctl services to see what the listener is the situation and tnsping and ping from the client to see what he thinks.

  • Dell has developed a passwoord and cannot access the Windows XP system on a network share in Windows 7.

    Original title: network router, XP computer and Windows 7 laptop computer dilemma.

    My system XP computer is part of a network using a router. I also have a laptop Windows 7, using the same network. Reference Dell set up a password so that the network is not accessible without password, reducing the risk of piracy. Now, I can not in the XP system because of the defined password.  How to reset or enter the password on the XP computer?

    Hi Scottid2,

    1. do you receive error messages when you access the Windows XP system?

    2. What is the password being set by Dell?

    You can check in the Windows 7 system if the password protected sharing is enabled. When protected by password sharing is enabled, people using other computers on your network cannot access your shared folders or printers unless they have a user account on your computer.

    You can turn off password protected sharing and check if it helps.

  • Adding library folder returns an error ""this network location cannot be included because it is not indexed.

    I'm trying to share my MUSIC on my Windows Home Server (WHS) folder in my music library.  Here's how my MUSIC folder is organized:

    MUSIC
    -> Songs1
    -> Songs2
    -> Songs3
    -> Chansons4
    -> Chansons5

    Quite simply structure, so thought that this should not be a problem. If I add the entire folder to the library only 1/3 of my songs are listed. In trying to understand what is happening, I found that only 2 to 5 subfolders under the MUSIC are included (songs.1 and chansons5).

    Again, I deleted the folder "MUSIC" from the library and then add each indivually subfolder. What I found is I might add 2 subfolders (songs.1 and chansons5), but adding that the 3 other subfolders returns an error message, "" the network location cannot be included because it is not indexed".  If I add a new folder under MUSIC I can't add it to the library either.

    I think it should have some type of security or user problem, but can't think of what it would be, since some of the subfolders under the MUSIC can be recognized, while others, including the new folders cannot be added. Someone at - it suggestions?

    I would add that I have no problem with adding my video or picture file to my WHS library.

    Problem has been solved - thought I would post an update if someone of another encounter this type of behavior.

    By continuing to try to understand why only the music files on my server would not be updated I fell into my "homegroup". I checked the settings and noticed that 'MUSIC' was not checked in the "Shared libraries and printers' (don't know why or how). I then checked the box and now I can move my files on the server and the path is updated in the library.

  • Need to connect to the home network wireless - Windows XP Pro - error with network password - needs to be 40bits or 104 bits...

    I have a new laptop at home which has windows xp sp 2 is installed.  I am trying to connect to my wireless network.
    I get the following error;
    The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration.  This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii or 26 hexadecimal characters.

    I gave my father a new laptop computer this fall and he gave me one that had given him his friend... I've never worked with XP Pro...

    We have several other phones on this account wireless at home.

    You try to login with the wrong encryption method and you have this implemented extremely secure wireless network.

    Have a computer connected to the router with an ethernet cable. Examples given are for a Linksys router. See the manual of your router or the router mftr's Web site. for the parameters by default if you don't have a Linksys. Open a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox and in the address bar type:

    http://192.168.1.1 [Enter] (it is default IP address of the router, which varies from router to router then check your manual)

    This will bring you to the login screen of the router. The default username is blank and the Linksys default password is "admin" without the quotes. Enter this information. You are now in the configuration of the router utility. Your configuration utility may be slightly different from mine. The first thing to do is to change the default password because * all * known default passwords for different routers.

    Click the Administration link at the top of the page. Enter your new password. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE. Re-enter the password to confirm it, and then click Save settings at the bottom of the page. The router will reboot and show you the box of connection again. Do not fill in the user name and put it in your new password to enter the configuration utility.

    Now, click on the link wireless at the top of the page. Change the network name (SSID) wireless by default to something, you'll recognize. I suggest that my clients not use their surname as the SSID. For example, you might want to name your network wireless network "CastleAnthrax" or similar. ;-)

    Click on save settings and when you get the prompt that your changes were successful, click the wireless security link which is just beside the Basic Wireless Settings link (where you changed your SSID). Most computers purchased during the last 4 years have the wireless hardware that will support WPA2-Personal (also known as WPA2-PSK). This is the desired encryption level. If your wireless hardware is older, use WPA. Don't use WEP, because who is easily broken within minutes. So go ahead and set the Security Mode WPA2-Personal. Do this and enter a password. For example, you could use the password ' here be dragons, beware you scurvy dogs! The password is what you enter on all computers that are allowed to connect to the wireless network. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE.

    At this point, your router is set up and if the computer that you use to configure the router will normally connect wireless, disconnect the ethernet cable and wireless of the computer should see your new network. Enter the password that you have created (exactly as you wrote it with all capital letters and punctuation) to join the network and start surfing. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

    My computer, running Windows 7, blue screened for the first time today... Edit
    --------
    Please note that I have no system restore turned on the lack of disk space.

    Hi Kyle Hulton,

    This problem may occur if the path to the service executable file contains spaces.

    Important: Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    How to back up and restore the registry
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/322756

    Follow the steps below:

    1. click on start and then click Run.

    2. in the Open box, type regedit and then click OK.

    3. Locate and then click the following registry entry, where is the name of the service:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\.

    For example, if the service is named MyService, locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MyService key.

    1. in the right pane, double-click ImagePath.

    2. in data in the value data box, add quotation marks around the full path of the executable file for the service.

    For example, if the path of the MyService service is C:\Program Files\MyProgram\MyService.exe, change the entry in the data area of value for the MyService service as follows

    "C:\Program Files\MyProgram\MyService.exe"

    3. click on OK and then quit the registry editor.

    Hope this helps!
