  • How to activate the Internet connection on Windows Server 2003 is installed in the virtual machine in VMware Workstation 8?

I have Windows Server 2003 is installed on a virtual machine in VMware Workstation 8. I need it to learn and practice the use of the Active Directory. I've also set up 3 Windows XP workstations connect to it, which means that they can communicate with Server 2003. What is lacking is the Internet connection on all of them. When I run ping 8.8.8.8 in one of these virtual machines, I get, 'Destination host unreachable.'

I'm not sure, what if the problem comes from the settings in Windows or the settings of the virtual machine.

    Can someone help me?

Thank you, guys. I was finally able to put in place. It was quite an ordeal to deal with IP addresses and virtual networks. Here's how I did (in the screenshots) in case someone else needs it.

(I also confess that it is perhaps one of the ways to implement. Maybe there is an easier way to do it with DHCP...)

    1. in your computer where is installed VMware Workstation 8 begin the "Virtual Network Editor." It is located in the folder of installation of VMware Workstation. And implement the network following (VMnet2 in my case):

2 then in VMware Workstation itself in the virtual machine when Windows Server 2003 is installed set up two network as connections:

This one is for external access to the Internet:

And this one for intranet communications AD:

    3. then in the machine virtual de Windows Server 2003 set up what follows for two network adapters:

    For Internet access:

Then, you need allow this connection to share:

And then for the ad access to workstations (ensure that the static IP address is in the range specified in the virtual network over VMnet2 network editor). I've also set up DNS to 127.0.0.1 because I installed on this Windows 2003 DNS server:

    4. from the Windows 2003 VM try ping 8.8.8.8. It should work now.

    5. go to each workstation, in my case, Windows XP, each in its own virtual machine and set up the network in the VMware Workstation as follows:

    6. then in the virtual machine, configure the network connection for Windows XP workstation. Don't forget to assign a new static IP address for each workstation, which not coinside with IP of the domain (this IP address must come from the range specified in the virtual network over VMnet2 network editor):

    7. try first ping the domain, in my case ping 192.168.237.128. And then Internet, ping 8.8.8.8. The two should work!

    Continue with steps [5-7].

  • How to stop windows defender updates to install immediately

I have Vista SP2, fully implemented to date. Processor 3 Ghz, 2 GB ram.  I have my windows updates set to automatic at 03:00.  These always install at 03:00 or when I select Install.  The problem I have is that these Windows Defender updates install immediately as soon as my pc starts or soon there after.  They seem to be ignoring my settings of windows updates.  It really drives me crazy because I have to wait and stop what I want to do both.  Windows defender updates slow down my pc or freeze the programs sometimes while I'm trying to use the pc.  Same IE9 sometimes freezes because of them.  Sometimes, I have to restart the pc to make it work well. They scan as soon as they install and they install as soon as they are published.  They are supposed to be for help, not to make my pc use miserable.  How can I make windows defender updates obey my windows update settings?

Have you tried to install manually instead of by means of automatic updates?

NIS 2012 should have disabled Windows Defender when it has been installed on your Vista operating system.  You turn Windows Defender?

What you describe as gel application hangs, looks slow performance software conflicts such as those that occur between contradictory antimalware programs.

I no longer use Windows Defender because of the risk of conflicts and problems with MSE.  I know people who have asked for advice in the forums etc who have had similar problems that you and their options were to uninstall or disable Windows Defender or uninstall their existing such as MSE, Norton, AVG, AV program.  Uninstall Windows Defender is not necessary, eliminated the problems of error messages, etc.

You may notice the following excerpt from:

    MSE and Windows Defender

Q: what happens if I do not disable or uninstall Windows Defender, if I use Microsoft Security Essentials?
A: If Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender are both running, your system can know the performance degradation and other problems caused by the conflict of two services providing real-time protection at the same time.

The same Council also applies to people who use NIS, and Windows Defender.

If you want to ignore my suggestions it is certainly your option.

If you can continue to follow this thread maybe someone else will have another suggestion for your question.

    Kind regards...

also, I don't know if this will help or not but can't go to all the backups, it says I have none.

Please HELP ITS DRIVING ME EVEN MORE CRAZY lol

    Hi angea,.

Thank you for using answers Forum.

Are you referring to the restore points system or computer backups that you have made your files?
Restore points are deleted after some updates, but there should be at least one.

Long update times can sometimes be the result of anti-virus software preventing the update of scripture to secure portions of the operating system.

I suggest to disable your anti-virus temporarily while performing the update.

If this does not help, there may be software conflicted with the update process.

You can perform a clean boot to isolate programs starting for the origin of the problem.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. This article describes how to solve problems in Windows Vista by performing a clean boot. This article also describes how to start the Windows Installer service and how to reset the computer so that it starts as usual.

Note When you perform a clean boot, you may temporarily lose some functionality. When you start the computer as usual, the function returns. However, you may receive the error message, or you can experience the original behavior.

If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

    a. log in the computer using an account with administrator rights.

    b. click on start toreduce this includes this image, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

Reduce this includes this imageIf you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue.

    c. under the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the Load Startup items check box. (The box use the Boot file is not available.)

    d. on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft services check box and then click on disable all.

Note Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    e. click OK, and then click restart.

Step 2: Enable half the services

    a. follow steps 1a and 1B to start the System Configuration utility.

    b. click on the Services tab and then click to select the hide all Microsoft services check box.

    c. Click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list.

    d. click OKand then click restart.

Step 3: Determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat steps 1 and 2. In step 2, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have initially enabled in the Service list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat steps 1 and 2. In step 2, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Service list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one service is selected in the list of services , and you the problem persists, the service selected the cause of the problem. Go to step 6. If no service is causing this problem, go to step 4.

Step 4: Enable half of the startup items

    a. perform a clean boot by repeating step 1.

    b. click on the Startup tab and then click to select half of the check boxes in the startup item list.

    c. click OK, and then click restart.

Step 5: Determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat steps 1 and 4. In step 4, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have originally selected in the startup item list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat steps 1 and 4. In step 4, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the startup item list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one startup item is selected in the startup item list, and you still experience the problem, start selected in the list element is the service that is causing the problem. Go to step 6.

If no startup item causes this problem, a Microsoft service most likely the cause of the problem. To determine which Microsoft service may be causing the problem, repeat step 1 and step 2 without selecting the hide all Microsoft services check box in each step.

    Step 6: Resolve the problem

After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

Step 7: Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

Click on start toreduce this includes this image, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER.

Reduce this includes this imageIf you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue.

On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart.

Please let us know if that helps.

  • How to get normal Windows 7 updates without installing Windows 10?

    Hello world

I've been a happy user of Windows 7 and have always wanted to have Microsoft warn me of updates are available for my system. I am very careful to keep them, but I want to install them manually, myself.

Two days earlier, Windows Update started showing the Windows 10 to upgrade, as an important update and advised me to... "Start install now."

I've been delaying this until I have decide exactly WHEN to do it, on my own terms. Is there a program that I use and that has quite developed a version of Win 10 still. I want to improve when that is developed.

However, I am now unable to install any other updates to my Windows 7 operating system, without having to install Windows 10.

I tried to get the optional update, which is available now, but cannot because the... "Start installation now..." Win 10 update starts automatically as soon as I decide to download the optional update.

It is the first time this has ever happened, and it is really annoy me.

Is it possible to continue to get Windows 7 upgrades without HAVING to install Win 10?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

  • Install flash on several machines without software

I know that the standard procedure of update of flash without installing the supplied software is to opt-out of all. unique. time. There is an update, but what is one to do when they are responsible for several windows machines - which requires flash and none of which some crappy trial anti-virus software or a toolbar google or all that you decide to bundle with flash in the future?

I would like to Flash some well taken care of the basis of the standard installation, but I can't do this good conscience by operating the updaterc annot be silently without installing the unwanted and not tested 3rd party software. In addition, the Flash has enough security vulnerabilities of its own without external code bundled with it:
Adobe Flash Player: List of vulnerabilities

So, what should I do? Use an updater 3 rd-party? Instruct customers to expect that their favorite web pages are recoded in HTML5, before they show them? Tell them that better never miss the unsubscribe button if they want support? Or do I just have to trust Adobe to make 100% sure that everything they decide to group will be tested to run on all platforms, in all environments and never cause a problem? (the latter is obviously facetious - installation of anti-virus unauthorized software demonstrates that they have no interest in knowing if their software breaks the existing configurations)

If I pay you an amount, can I get a version of the reader who does not understand software "value-added"? Maybe you do is charge money for tools, people use to develop flash applications, and then give the player following a loss to give these developers a broader base of development and make it so your tools more popular - but all this strategy never has been doing flash one of the most common pieces of software in the world , so I can see why you abandoned it.

    Hello belarm,

The online installer that you mention is not for distribution in the way you are trying.  It is simply an installer of shim which downloads and installs Flash Player silently in the background.

From information provided, you will need to get a (free) distribution license to distribute Flash Player within your organization.  Flash Player Administration Guide provides the necessary information to allow the Flash Player (Chapter 1) and Flash Player (Chapter 3) distribution options, as well as a myriad of other details on the administration of Flash Player within your organization.  The Guide is available at Adobe Flash Player Administration Guide for Flash Player 14 | Adobe Developer Connection.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8100: Lost my printer drivers (after a Windows 10 update)!

    Hello

After the recent Windows 10 updates (one installed on Christmas day), I lost my (custom installed) to the printer drivers. No big deal I thought, ONLY MIcrosoft MOST inconvienience - I'll reinstall just them. But when I open the properties of the printer Panel, I found that ALL ADVANCED TAB where I needed access to reinstall drivers is now GRAY and completely unaccessable! I not only lost my custom drivers, I also lost my second tray of the printer (installed optionally) capacity! YES, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Now I need help to reinstall (they gave me specific instructions for installation, so I won't bumble worse trying to install them differently (as a regular driver) without confirmation first.)
This is a PERFECT EXAMPLE of why we should be allowed to choose for outselves when and what updates to install on OUR computer! I checked the Windows Update history and there is NOTHING there that would strike even he would have had to change printer drivers, nor I anthing that would affect them being changed (for example, allowing control HP from my PC to automatically updated drivers), but clearly something changted them.

What I HAD... I use a printer Officejet Pro 8100 bought two years ago February next with the option second tray of the installed printer. I also use Officejet 8600 drivers in order to be able to print my graphic files properly (these drivers were recommended on this forum once I have posted having problems printing after the first installation. These drivers worked PERFECTLY in all of my PC (running Windows XP, 8.1, and 10), but now with the missing options, everytting is printing through the upper status bar (where I have a THICK paper). I don't have the ability to choose which try to print (Tray 1 or 2), and I need to change paper whenever I want to print on different paper (I always had a THICK paper on top (Tray 1) and plain paper in the lower part (tray 2) because it would not print thick paper from the tray at the bottom.

To use the 8600 drivers, I was given specific instructions (on this forum) on install in the section "NEW DRIVER" of the ADVANCED TAB in the properties of the printer. Now that I don't have access to this tab, I need to know if there is a way to access new (my preferred method) OR another way to install (for example just install them as if I would install the printer (8600))?

It's free enough explainatory tab FULL area is GRAYED OUT, but in case there are any doubts, I have attached is a screenshot showing what he looks like.

I apprecate any help you could offer.

    Kind regards... Chugbug

    OK, now it's really WEID!

I tried during the last 24 hours to get to the Panel in question, including the restart of Windows at least half a dozen times without success.  But now tonight after that I dug around the different tabs, once again, INCLUDING clicking on through security and permissions panels (but not to make changes) AND for posting my question here, all in the advanced Panel was suddenly accessible once more!

I reinstalled my 8600 drivers again, then reset my printing (default) preferences (paper 2 / plain plateau), and everything is good again (kumbaya...)!

Good thing, I took a screenshot of it (grey) or I can't believe myself!

    Happy holidays!  Chugbug

  • Is it possible to install Firefox on multiple machines with plugins already installed using a flash drive?

I am currently install Firefox on several machines and would like 2 plugins installed with installation. At this point, we have to install Firefox, then go back and install the 2 plugins. There must be an easier way. Plugins help our content company to load properly on machines.

Oh boy, I see you don't have experience with this... ok, you've been around here, once you paste the file C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla you need to install firefox, firefox installs in C:\Program Files, and you're done, once firefox opens it checks the contents of C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla and load all the information there , addons, history, passwords, etc.
In the plain English there are 2 files in Mozila\Firefox, one in C:\Program Files and contains ONLY what it takes to run firefox.exe, other Mozila\Firefox is located in your USER folder and contains your personal profile that has your plugins, addons, paswords, history, bookmarks, if you delete this folder once you run firefox it will create a new and start over If you have this folder you should have if you did stick it in the new machine, so when you install and run firefox it will be the contents of this folder and run, his cloning as your current firefox in another machine, but you need to install firefox because she needs to add extra stuff to the registry and stuff, BUT it is an alternative If you want to have both these files without having to install anything, just copy and paste, then you need a Firefox Portable, which will work with installation 0, being a little slow to start, but once opened will be will work also quickly as one installed (the disc depends on his work, a hard drive is fast (, a USB is faster an ssd we the fastest).
If you still have questions feel free to ask. If you go the route portable firefox there are many videos on youtube that will show you how to do or where to download it. Good luck.
