Windows 7 virtual machine

Hello

I have a windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit OS wish I deliberately installed to run 32-bit programs (preinstalled windows is 64-bit), but now I need to run 64-bit programs, can machine virtual windows help me accomplish this?

laptop is Toshiba satellite (if relevant)

8 GB ram (2.73 GB usable due to the limitation of 4 GB of ram on 32 bit OS)

CPU: i5 - 2450M @ 2.50 GHz 2.50 Ghz

I know there's similar threads and links (wish I have carefully examined and did not find what I need in there) and as you can tell this is not my field, so any kind of help would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

If these old programs run under win7 32 bit, they would have almost certainly have run under win7 64 bit

Win7 Pro or Ultimate 64 bit has the option/option to install virtual Windows XP, MS

If you want to dual boot win7 32 bit and win7 64 bit, need you two separate licenses win7

  • How to reset the administrator password in my Windows XP Virtual Machine

I just created a Windows XP virtual machine and have been using it without any problem.  Today, I started the machine and he asked an administrator password.  I believe that I have not set up one that I've never been asked before.

How can I reset my password or I have to rebuild a new machine?

Can I use a password reset utility?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Kind regards

If an empty password does not work then you probably have to rebuild the virtual machine. This time, I recommend adopt you the practice of setting up a second admin account immediately and make a note of the password. It's the same when you buy a new car: you get at least two sets of keys.

  • Backup my Windows XP virtual machine.

I need to know what files I need to copy so that I have a backup of my Windows XP virtual machine. I use Time Machine to back up my Mac, but I've read the discussion properly if not the right way to go. If anyone can please tell me what to do in case I have a hard disk crash.

Fusion obscures the VMs - files in a package.
If you open you a list of files.

More important are all VMDK + vmx file.

But to simplify it - simply copy all files while the virtual machine is turned off

  • Help please... Replaced the hard drive of MBP, restored from TM, but the Windows XP virtual machine does not start

I replaced the 250 GB hard drive in my MacBook Pro early 2009 with a 500 GB drive, it the Mac OS extended (journaled) format and restored from my Time Machine backup.

Now when I try to start my Windows XP virtual machine (using Fusion 2.0.6... planning upgrade to 3.1.2 but wanted to validate all was well first), I get BSOD, even in safe mode.

I have my vm separately saved on a network drive data files based on things that I had read before, I do not think that TM backup of virtual machines. However, a friend with a similar setup with more knowledge I think because I could see my Windows XP vm VMWare listed under 'Documents' in Time Machine showing its full size, it has actually saved and there restore it. Apparently he has done this successfully before.

Should I have partitioned the hard drive? I don't think that my previous drive has been partitioned. Don't know what to do now.

    TIA!

To be clear: you have restored VMs from the disk or network time Machine?  And if the network drive, what backup method you use?  (i.e.: have you just copied engine off the computer virtual package or not?)  Can you copy/restore the virtual machine to the network again drive?  What is a virtual machine that has the error, or other virtual machines have problems?

Time Machine backup correctly a virtual power off machine. But since Time Machine works automatically, you often will get not a consistent backup unless you do some tricks to make sure Time Machine backup only when you use a virtual machine.  (i.e.: turn on Time Machine only when you're done with the virtual machine.)  Thus, it is normally recommended to exclude the virtual machines from Time Machine and use another method to back up virtual machines.  Your friend is lucky or is only backup virtual machines powered off.

Should I have partitioned the hard drive? I don't think that my previous drive has been partitioned. Don't know what to do now.

The Mac player Paritioning is unnecessary unless you use Boot Camp or have required another for the partition.

  • Runtime error example NOR-DAQmx ANSI C in the Windows 7 virtual machine

I am under a guest Windows 7 system with a host of Ubuntu 14, using VirtualBox and have encountered a problem running even the simplest examples provided by National Instruments, using the ANSI C API for NOR-DAQmx.

The first time that the DAQ hardware is turned on, I can run a single measure, and after that, any other indicator displays the following error message:

Attempted to read samples that are no longer available.
The requested sample was previously available, but has since been overwritten.
Increasing the buffer size, reading the data more frequently, or specifying
a fixed number of samples to read instead of reading all available samples
    might correct the problem.

    Property: DAQmx_Read_RelativeTo
    Corresponding Value: DAQmx_Val_CurrReadPos
    Property: DAQmx_Read_Offset
    Corresponding Value: 0

    Task Name: _unamedTask(0)
    Status Code: -200279

In order to start a new measurement, I have to restart the DAQ hardware, probably in order to clear the internal buffers that are in the process of substitution.

I am interested in a measure of continuous tension in basic by using a callback function. (The example of ContAcq_IntClk provided by OR)

The exactly the same setup, same version of NOR-DAQmx (9.7.5) and running on Visual Studio 2012 smoothly on a computer that is running Windows 7 directly.

I suspect that the problem is with the internal buffer being somehow messed up because of the connection with the Virtual Machine, but do not find an elegant solution to fix it.

The camera I use is NI USB-6289.

    Hello fromm8

Thank you very much for your help, I managed to locate the problem.

He was not the actual code, or something like that, it was a problem of communication between the VirtualBox machine and the physical device.

Kept launches MAX test panels a comparable as error the program C.

I fixed the problem by opting for VMWare, which seems to have the best compatibility with USB devices.

  • Windows 7 virtual machine - stop even if someone is connected via RemoteDesktop

    Hello

I have a machine virtual windows 7. It runs on a host SLES 11 SP3 with KVM. When the host wants to stop the virtual machine, it signals the vm via ACPI. But if someone is connected via RemoteDesktop, virtual machine refuses to stop. KVM waits a while, then turns off the virtual machine. Is it possible to stop a windows 7 even if someone is connected via RemoteDesktop?

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 on a host of Windows 7 virtual machine

Using a host Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit), could I create a virtual machine in Windows Server 2008 R2 as a DC with active directory and join the field of Win 7 host?

If so, what virtualization software recommend?

It would be only for development purposes.

No, you would not be able to join the host (Windows 7) for Windows Server 2008 R2. (Chicken and eggs).

You can use Oracle VirtualBox or VMWare Player:

  • See the Windows 10 virtual machines as "Available" in the administration Console, even while users are connected

    Hello

I have the situation where a bunch of persistent Windows 10 VM VDI (several pools, all VM 1 by manual pool) are ALWAYS shown as 'Available' in Admin mode, even when a user is connected. Using PCoIP or RDP has no importance.

    Description:

-All the time, desktop never appears as 'connected' in the Admin view when users log on. It's always 'available', which is dead wrong in the first place.

-L' use of PCoIP disconnects-> reconnects with PCoIP or RDP.

-Using RDP at a certain point however, triggers the message of "sources of funds available for this desktop computer are currently busy" clients of the view. Re-login impossible at all from that moment, regardless of the protocol used.

-Once again, yet these VM Win10 see as "available" regardless of the actual status.

-There is no firewall between windows 10 VM and connection brokers (who have no problem replication).

-Restarting the agent from the view and related services does not 'release' of the virtual machine. It will still say 'sources of funds available for this desktop computer are currently busy.

-Only a restart of the operating system can erase it and make the available virtual machine to connect again.

-While the virtual machine is amplified shutdown or restart, desktop shows as "inaccessible Agent" so there is communication between Agents and brokers.

Windows 7 persistent VM works 100% normal in all respects. It's only 10 VM Windows and... Since a round patch in a few weeks (I was this problem since then). Before some patch does this (but have no evidence) these VM Windows 10 has worked well with view 6.2.0

These virtual machines are highly customized with special software and can not be simply rebuild. I re-install VMtools, view Agent etc etc several times. No dice. Even tried a fresh install of Windows (connected to the same level), still shows this behavior.

All this started a few weeks back after a round Patch from Microsoft. Then maybe a M$ Patch assigned Agent of the view. So I uninstalled/re-installed the Agent of 62 reviews. Improved 6.2 to 6.2.2 etc. all to nothing does not. New, old, VMtools Agents re-installed. I've tried everything now.

Has anyone seen this or someone can point me in the right direction for troubleshooting? I haven't noticed any funky stuff in the papers, but I'm probably tunnel vision/search the bad things after all this time.

I do view since the early days, but I'm really stumped this time. I am all of these ideas.

I reworded my question in another post and found the answer here:

Win10 Desktop shows never "connected" while the user is logged

  • Unable to resume Windows 7 virtual machines with vmrun

    Hi all

I am running WS9 (now WS10) under Linux (CentOS 6, 64-bit) and I have a script that runs every night to suspend my VMs, make a snapshot of the filesystem for the backup and resume virtual machines. This used to work properly, but in the last few months I've noticed that any Windows 7 VMs I have running are never picked up, and I have to use the GUI to launch them again in the morning. Very annoying!

This is what happens when I try to resume the virtual machine:

    [root@holly ~] # vmrun t ws start/vmware/New\ Win7\ x86_64/New\ Win7\ x86_64.vmx nogui

    Unexpected signal: 11.

    Error: Unknown error

Now I would say signal 11 is basically a segmentation fault, a crash. Looking in the newspaper I see a load of trace messages, then

    2013-10 - 10T 14: 23:21Z [+ 0,339] | MKS | I120: Msg_Post: error

    2013-10 - 10T 14: 23:21Z [+ 0,339] | MKS | I120: fatal error [msg.log.error.unrecoverable] VMware Workstation: (mks)

    2013-10 - 10T 14: 23:21Z [+ 0,339] | MKS | Signal i120 + unexpected: 11.

    2013-10 - 10T 14: 23:21Z [+ 0,339] | MKS | I120: [msg.panic.haveLog] A log file is available in ' / vmware/new Win7 x86_64/vmware.log.

The strange thing is now, I can load the GUI WS and resume the virtual machine very well from there.

Machines virtual Linux seem to be good

Windows 2003/2008 appear to be good.

    Things I've tried so far

    1. update to WS - same behavior 10

2 rebuilt a new WIndows 7 VM just in case there was a problem with the old - same behavior.

I * know * this allows to work at some point in the past, I couldn't tell what WS version which has been. Maybe 8?

    Can anyone help?

OK, so as usual when I take the time to present a problem, I fixed it.

The same virtual machines being run as a non-root user works perfectly. Must always be a bug somewhere, but I'm satisfied of the workaround to run as a non-root user, that it is true that I should have done throughout anyway!

  • New Windows 7 virtual machines always Home Basic?

    Hello

I just installed the most recent (7.1.2) VMware Workstation on my Windows7 Ultimate x 64 host, but whenever I try to create a new virtual machine, be it an operating system Windows 7 x 64 guest professional or Ultimate to Windows 7 x 64 N, the virtual machine always starts as Home Basic.

    Why?

    Thank you.

Looks like you use the function 'easy install '.

next time, when you try to install windows 7 click on "I will install later...". ' - which disables detection automatic bone and if all goes well then allows a very easy installation ;-)

  • SCSCI driver probem in the Windows XP virtual machine

I searched but couldn't find details on installing the SCSI driver told me that I need when I start my VM with Windows XP home. I downloaded the file the indicated such driver disk, and I tried to add a floppy drive for my virtual machine, while the guest is turned off, but then when I start upward once again I get a black screen and a message 'missing netldr '. There is nothing I can do at this time. Is there another way to get the driver, as well as a diskette file?  This seems like a ridiculous way to deliver pilots.

Carl the key here to what the OP said is "told me that I need when I start my VM with Windows XP home" and this message that becomes the OP has nothing to do with it is not able to boot and there is actually a checkbox on the message to not show it again because the SCSI driver may not even be necessary , and in general with this particular message that they are not necessary.

If it was a case of need of start due to a virtual hard disk SCSI SCSI for Windows driver then the message would come from the installation of Windows that has a hard drive was not found.

  • "Unable to connect because of an account restriction" Windows XP virtual machine as administrator

I got virtual machine today and just downloaded some software that requires a reboot. Earlier, before the reboot, I wanted to remove my password I had set for the account, I went to the properties of the user in the control panel and changed my password for nothing. Problem is that now when I try to log in I get "Unable to connect because of an account restriction" even if I am the admin in the console. Anyone know how I can bypass this login/reset my password? I can not at all in the machine. I'm just stuck when connecting. And there is no safe mode F8 command at startup for virtual methods, I've tried. Thanks in advance.

Okay, so I managed to fix it myself.

For the love of everyone, go to your folder of VMS (search for it in the start menu if you can't find it), and ONLY if you have built your way out of a previous virtual disk (such as Virtual XPV HD) and always have access to this file, delete your virtual machine. This same folder. Then create a new machine with the file of virtual disk mentioned earlier, when you are prompted, and then run it. When it comes to the administrator, you will not have a password and it will record you up. Now, before closing, make sure that you change your password for an actual password to avoid that.

If you have followed this by following the instructions, you should have more, if not all of your files back and resumed control of the console. I hope this helps. :)
