Windows 8.1 recovery problems

I'm trying to get my sons (portable aSamsung) PC up and run after he accidentally spilled water on it while working. He was running widows 8. of course, there may be a hardware problem, but it looks more like a software problem, I think that something to do with the boot has been corrupted. After we dried the PC & put in the closet from broadcasting for a while, I managed to start it, but it wouldn't boot correctly but went in Aptio Setup utility. After a bit of research on the web, I managed to learn how to create a USB key to start in repair mode (created on my computer running windiws 8.1) and managed to start up to a screen where I get options to repair or restore. Now no matter what I have I get error messages. (And not all of the same error message!)
I tried the option "Refresh your PC" and I get the error message
The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive, and then try again.
Returns "reset your PC.
Impossible to reset your PC. A required disk partition is missing.
If I go to advanced startup repair
He said that he could not fix my PC.
If I go to the command prompt it goes to X:\windows\system32, if I run CHKDSK it says
Errors in the uppercase file
If I run chkdsk/f it says that this is impossible because the disk is write protected.
CHKDSK on c: works OK - no errors
I also tried sfc / scannow and it says
There is a system repair pending which requires the restart ends. Restart windows, and then run the sfc.
SO I tried to restart, he represented and... Received the same message.
I am now at a loss to know what to do next! I used to work in IT but through the DOS commands and start files, I'm a little out of my depth! Any suggestions?
What is the exact make and model of the laptop Samsung?
Unfortunately, the recovery of Windows 8.1 drive cannot be used to troubleshoot Windows 8 PC. You must create a recovery for Windows 8 disc and try to repair the computer by using the same.
Useful note: You have to manage another computer running the same version of Windows 8 and use it to create the recovery drive.
It could be useful!

This error may be cause of disconnect a device removable storage such as an usb external drive while the appliance is in use or by defective as a hard disk hardware or the CD-ROM drive which is a failure. I almost 'ok', and then am taken to explore, when there are a few system files and files (all empty)?

    I'm confused... any help?

    Hello

For me, it looks like a problem with the system eventually installed the HDD failures.
    Why?

Due to the issue described in point 2.
PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable error is displayed because the phone didn t find the installed operating system and try to boot from LAN.
This happens especially if the HARD drive was not recognized by the BIOS.

    My recommendation;
Access the BIOS and check if the HARD drive is listed there.
If this isn't the case, then you will need to replace the HARD drive and reinstall the operating system.

If the HARD drive is listed in the BIOS, then take a recovery disk and try to reinstall the OS again.
If you have no recovery disc, then you can order it here.

Immediately after a Windows Update, my computer will not re-start. It says disk error.

I could not start it from the recovery media and F8 would not work. I bought and installed a new hard drive. Now, when I put in the recovery media to install Windows on the new drive, it gives an error message.

What this may be? Would I be able to install Windows from the recovery media?

In General, you can install Recovery on each compatible HARD drive image so you should not be a problem in this regard.

Please tell us what happens when you start installation of recovery. What error message?

New HARD drive is recognized in the BIOS. Before you begin installation of recovery BIOS default value.

  • uninstalled windows 10 now have problems

    Hello

I installed windows 10 from windows 7, but then had few problems as - could not connect to the internet.

I uninstalled Windows 10 and now I keep getting a message stating this copy of windows is not genuine. My back custom ground also guard goes black (instead of the blue windows 7 logo).

I switched programs, click system to view the product key number, but it is not recognized during an attempt to enter.

Glad you can give me advice on how to fix this?

    Thank you very much.

Number of records is renamed in the update but not restored to there original names when restore you (recover). The security changes made to the files and folders are a mess total going either way.

The only way to get windows stable 10 is to upgrade and make sure that it is enabled. Create an installation DVD or USB media, and then use it to wipe the drive and do a clean install. Do not have your specific system drivers very practical because as you noticed, windows does not all. I've been too 'offline' until I've manually updated driver for my built in "Ethernet cardnetwork Killer ©".

On stability of windows 7 after recovery, I'm still working on that myself. I know enough to save a lot of data on a 2nd drive and I know the occupant stupid tricks to regain possession of files, but like everyone else, always impossible to install critical security updates for windows 7.

Currently, your best bet is to wipe the drive and reinstall windows 7.

    Hi Konyga,

If you already have a warning on the internal HARD disk before Windows starts I would recommend sharing it and backup all data as quickly as possible.

Is your laptop still under warranty?
If Yes, you can get a new HDD to an authorized service provider. It would be free because it s covered by the warranty. All you have to do is contact with an ASP.

  • Windows has encountered a problem with the DVD/CD on Qosmio G20

can someone tell me what is happening.
    Thank you

On this path, it is not easy to say anything. Try to remove the drive from Device Manager, and then restart the device. The unit should be recognized and installed correctly.

If you want to create data CDs using windows options please check disc recording option. Check the properties of the drive and check option under the recording tab.

  • Explorer Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close, sorry for the inconvenience into account only one user. Other user accounts properly.

This problem deals with only one of my user accounts, where the user accounts function correctly.  When my wife logs in to his user account, it receives the error "windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close, sorry for the inconvenience."  No ICONS or deskbar charge upward; However, my daughter and my user account functions properly.

I did a system successfully restore to a previous point, but the problem remains.

If you are still having problems with Windows Explorer crashing, I suggest to consider the suggestion offered by ShadowKat:

"Hello people, it seems that some guys out there are still having trouble with this random crashes. I have the same problem, except that it happens every time that I go to my media files on my NAS. It seems that there is a bug or something with windows that causes this problem when you access a folder to storage media like mine, especially when the size of the file is very large (archive all my discs of film there for convenience and continuous =), about 1 TB of data). Windows capable of generating thumbnail images for your files and blocks the Explorer as well.

I solved this by going to my computer > click the "Organize" (upper-left) > folder and search options > view tab check "Show icons, never thumbnails" option and uncheck the "display file on the photos." This prevents windows to generate images and solved the problem for me. Less visually flashy Yes, but at least not need a cloth and restart is).
I hope this helps and good luck!

  • Windows has encountered a problem, try to copy a file... why?

Windows has encountered a problem, try to copy a file... why?  MikeW

There are many possible reasons.  What you have tried to do over time?  Is there additional information printed with this message?  A few possible reasons come to mind:

    • The file was opened exclusively by the operating system or another program
    • The full path to the file from the C:\... contain more than 256 characters
    • Permissions problem: you have read permissions for the file or permission in writing to the destination
    • The file entry or damaged directory disk sector. (Run the command chkdsk with the /R option to this address)
    • The file is larger than 4 GB and you try to copy it to a disk formatted with a FAT file system.

I'm sure that there are more reasons, but need more information.
