Windows 8 and join a domain
So I just got a windows machine 8 and want to join the field of society. But now, I learned that I need Windows 8 pro.
Should I spend the money on an upgrade to Windows 8 pro or 8.1 has the ability to join a domain?
If so, should I pay for an upgrade to windows 8.1?
Thank you
Hello
You cannot join a domain in Windows 8.1. You must have Windows 8.1 pro or Windows 8 Professional to join a domain. See the article for more on this topic.

Unable to join the domain using customization comments vCD
I have vCloud Director installed and running. I created a vApp and edited the properties to allow customization of comments and more everything works so far but the computer will not join the domain. I tried to use organization customization, as well as customize the TIME after deployment. As soon as the server ends with the customization and is powered, I can log in and join the domain manually without any problem, I can't get comments customization to do that for me. Its a Windows 2008 R2 server. I found this entry at the end of the journal to customize-comments on the server:
run the command netsh interface ip set dns 12 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx static (it has the correct address for my DNS server) =
The command has been successfully run, the output of the command:
The configured DNS server is incorrect or does not exist
Any thoughts?
It is a farily well known problem. For a join of field works in vCloud Director, you must have on your DHCP subnet. Many people make using the vShield edge device that is located on the network of the Org. The sysprep process runs before tools VMware is running (which applies to the satic IP address to the client). It's sort of a situation or hen that the guest has ip when in sysprep, so the easy solution to make it work is DHCP. Conversely, people did it is in port, a lab post script custization in vCD Manager who entered the field after the sysprep is made completely and the guest it's static IP. Frankly, it's something of the order of operations that is causing the problem. We are looking at this for other clients, but at the moment, what your options are
(1) add DHCP to the subnet by using your own server DHCP OR vShield Edge
(2) add a PostScript of customization to join the domain, it can be inserted into the comments thus customizaion area.
Hope this helps you stop banging their heads on the wall

Group residential windows 8 and 7
I would like to create a homegroup in windows 8 and attach it from windows 7. Is there a problem? Or I have to create the homegroup in windows 7 and join computer windows 8? Or there isn't any solution?
Hi friend
I use it and I have no problem to open a file to win 8 in Windows 7 or opening a file from Win 7 to 8 Win.
You don't have to change a lot of settings to get the homegroup to work. Everything that do you is go through the steps. You configure the homegroup on one computer first and then you "join" residential group of any other computer Win 7 or 8 to win using the password created on the first computer.
USE THE PUT OPTION MICROSOFT HOMEGROUP IN WINDOWS 7 AND WINDOWS 8!
OPEN THE CONTROL PANEL AND OPEN HOMEGROUP!
This will help you.

Technician tried to delete the computer account on the domain and join it. It works well with Windows XP and win7. Now it comes to the administrator login and does not allow me to use the admin password. I need to enter this computer because it is an old autocad computer with lots of files which are still on the machine.

Problem to join a domain with Windows Vista Bussiness
I have my domian with Windows Server 2008 standard, on my network, I have Windows XP, 2000, Win7 and Vista computers and laptops.
I have no problem to join all computers, but when I try to join a computer or laptop with Vista it keeps giving me this error:
"An attempt to resolve the DNS of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. Please check that this client is set to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target area.
I already do a little research on the web and try disabling IPv6, I also create the computer in the ad before attempting to join the domain, so far without success.
Thanks in advance for your answers!

Hi all
I appreciate your help. And I hope that this issue has been addressed previously, although I couldn't find any solution there.
I manage a domain windows 2008 with 3 domain controllers. Recently my workstations continue to fall out of the field. I get "the trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed" to many workstations.
I know how to fix properly, use netdom.exe. But the mistakes keep coming back. I don't know where to look for the source of this error. A possible problem might be the time in any field is out of sync. But all my workstations synchronize with the domain controller with the primary domain controller role and seems to work correctly.
Are there other sources, that I need to check? This is getting frustrating.
Thank you much for the help.
Sincerely,

Active Directory and domain controller on old customer Windows 2003 and Windows 7.
Hi all
I have Active Directory and the domain on old Windows 2003 and Windows 7 client controller. I enabled "User must change password at the next logon" for the customer user on AD account.
When the user tried to connect to Windows 7, after that they have got the change password screen and type new password, then they received message "the user password must be changed before logging on the first time," user get password screen change again, then they get the same massage. Looks like he's going to loop and user cannot change password and connect to the computer.
Hello
To help you with your concerns, you can see the article below:

Connection with a user name of domain under Windows 7 and 8.1
In my organization, we migrated our machines windows 7 and 8.1 to the Active Directory domain.
Ideally connect on Windows 7 and 8.1 Machine with user domain\username
But at the present time, we are able to connect to Windows 7 and 8.1 machine providing any domain name or abc\username xyz\username with valid username and password.
Is there a solution that allows the user to connect only indicating the valid domain name. If the user types abc or xyz as domain name, the error message should be displayed.
Thank you

So I'm writing a script to install our vSphere hosts to work with our monitoring software. Right now, it's all done by hand and I would like if possible to automate it. So far, I came up with this. I get to step 5 and that's where it fails. I can get it manually run the Get-VIAccount command, but in the script, it fails.
These are my steps
1. connect to an existing host and retrieve role properties.
2. connect to the new host
3 join the domain.
4. disconnect the new host and reconnect with the credentials of domain
5. get the domain account, role of research/create and add permissions to host
6. enable and configure SNMP
7 restart MGMT officers.

Oh boy... Would physical left and P2V-cannot join the domain
Hello
I was basically testing function P2V and I left the physical server. No I want to regularize and actually use my PHYSICAL server - but I can't join the domain - I am tired to the subject he take off the field and put it back on. All the tips are greatly appreciated.
Thank you
When the two systems, the virtual and the physical, appear on the network with the eID of sam, it is possible that one of them will change the password secure between the domain member server and the domain controller. If the other is out of the game.
As you say, he join the domain.

What happens if my computer (XP) joined the domain network?
Hello. I would like to know a little better on the domain network. My computer is currently the Working Group on my home network. I read on the domain network and it is said that
"If you have a user account on the domain, you can connect to any computer on the domain without needing an account on this computer." (from windows help and support)
Does that mean exactly? This means that if my computer joined to the domain, other computers on the same network of domain can access all the files on my computer (the files that I have has not yet implemented to share)? or does this mean that other computers on the domain can connect to my computer as remote desktop? (I do not want that to happen...)
It seems like a lot that the office uses the domain network and I would like to know how it works. I read some articles on the field and how to put in place and other things, but I couldn't specify my question. I appreciate if anyone can help my answer.
Thank you very much.
Hello
Using domain causes a topology around real server (like Windows 2008).
Companies use this topology because of the size of their system and the need for central control.
There is no advantage to using such topology for small home network.
If you use the parameter field and that you do not have a General with your network domain server will not work correctly.
