Windows 8 file save the old operating system installed

Just called Microsoft supported and also Microsoft chat tech and they have no idea what to say.

Long story short;

Had a HP TouchSmart and installed the beta version of Windows 8. Windows 8 Pro has purchased and installed. Everything was OK.

Bought a new Dell XPS 30 "all in one. It came with Windows 8, but I installed my copy of Pro on this subject. It's all working for a few months.

Yesterday, my system froze. I tried everything, checking virus, malware check, reboot, Windows 8 discount... No luck. It should boot to the Windows startup screen

but all the tiles would not become assets AND most of them where it's empty. Just got a screen frozen tiles colored white.

Last night so I did the drastic wipe and much time the fresh install disk. It starts fine, and now there are only a few titles on the splash screen now because of the new facility. I rebooted and he did all the current improvements. Everything was fine.

Now the nightmare... I did the restore files 8 widows in my external hard drive. All files loaded fine, but when I rebooted, the installation of Windows 8 old was back. I had all my tiles with icons or text... Just color, back to the same problem, I just spend the whole night to solve!

File Windows backup to copy system files and restore them? If so, how can I get my files personal return without defining the system to the way it was before the new facility.

Confused and frustrated...

peace,

LD

I used the new file history Windows 8. I thought it was just my personal files. After the fresh format and new installation of widows 8, I did a restore of the history of the file. This has somehow installed windows that did not work properly.

I then tried to do a 'Refresh Install' and it gave me the Windows.old directory. I deleted that and, at least for the moment, everything seems to work.
I don't know what happened, but it was very strange...
Also for what it's worth, I wish history files would be to update only the changed files and not just copy everything. It eats quickly place and requires us to be always delete files. Thank you

  • How to transfer the old operating system to Windows XP on a drive USB3 to allow the start of a new XP computer

I have Windows XP SP3 on a Dell computer. I have a new computer with Windows 7 Pro.

I want the option to be able to start my new computer with XP and run it as an alternative to USB.

Is there a way I can completely transfer the contents of the drive WITH the XP OPERATING SYSTEM on a regular external USB3 drive so I can start the new computer using XP works like the operating system, when I need?

    Thank you.

You do not have.  Windows XP doesn't work this way (start of the external drive).

You can virtualize the old computer (physical to virtual conversion) and run it as a virtual machine on your new system.  Although, honestly, it would be a bit beyond the type of assistance usually given in these home user forums.  A Google search would be ways to virtualize a physical system and/or choose which Manager of virtualization that you want to use (Microsoft VirtualPC, VirtualBox, VMware Player/workstation, etc...)

  • several operating systems on my laptop... I installed two windows 7 operating systems... How to remove the old operating system.

    Hello

I installed windows 7 on my laptop but it did not work properly. Still, I installed windows 7 but it did not drive partitions.

It will automatically take the disk partitions. program files recent operating system (windows 7) are in the D drive.

    I have two questions.

    1. How do I uninstall the previous windows 7 (these program files are in the C drive).

    2. how windows 7 current (drive D) program files in the C drive.

    Please help with these issues.

    Thanking you.

Sorry, you can't move the current from D: to C: operating system because the registry contains countless references to D: all would be wrong.

Removal of unwanted operating system is possible, but risky. It is best done by an expert who has the necessary experience and tools. He would need them in case the machine becomes unbootable longer after cleaning.

Your best bet is to start all over again. Back up your data, and then let the drive be formatted during the installation process.

How to rmove it has an earlier version of windows from the Startup tab?

What you are asking is NOT about uninstalling the earlier version of the operating system itself.

    It's a different procedure.

    1. Close all running programs and open the windows if you are back on the desktop.
    2. Click on the Start () button.
    3. In the search box of the Start Menu () typemsconfigand pressenter on your keyboard.
    4. The System Configuration utility will open and you will see a screen similar to the one below.

Figure 8. Vista System Configuration utility

      Click the Startup tab.

    5. You will now be on the screen start as shown below options.

Figure 9. Tab of Vista startup in the System Configuration utility

Follow directions to the tab startup using msconfig > get him out of there.

  • Can I go back to the old operating system after upgrade to el Capitan?

I have a MacBook Air and recently updated (?) for Os X El Capitan. Now, I can't use my Photoshop elements 11. Is there a solution? If this is not the case, can I go back to what I had before El Capitan?

    Hi, grumpy :)

This isn't what you want to read but it is a recommended to ensure that applications you must have will launch on an updated operating system.

I do not use the product, but you may need to upgrade your Photo shop elements. Version 14 seems to work on Capitan:

    https://www.Adobe.com/products/Photoshop-elements/buying-guide.html

You must decide if it's worth the cost of upgrade or use an older OS X, considering that a new OS X (Sierra) will be released at some point.

Someone else here can advise you how to restore if that's your decision.

You will not be able to install creative cloud manager which is what you need to access the versions CS6 offered through the cloud.  You will need to purchase licenses for operating systems more former or more recent operating systems use the CC CS6 programs.

  • If you have ESXi installed on a USB drive.  Where are the comments operating system installed?

I'm totally new to ESXi.  I googled this answer apparently simple like crazy, but couldn't find a solid answer.  If you install ESXi on a USB key or USB hard drive, where the guest os get installed?  On the same USB device because the ESXi OS is installed?

I have a 40 GB usb hard drive, I want to install it.  I don't want to touch none of the disks in my PC at all, but rather run straight from the USB key (similar to the live linux race).  It will work all fine without any problem? I use it only for the purposes of learning, nothing major at this point.

    Welcome to the community,

Unfortunately, this won't work. Virtual machines (i.e. the VMFS file system) are only supported on storage 'fast', i.e. the SSD/HDD or shared storage LUNs. You cannot create a data store VMFS on a USB device.

    Hello!

"If I use my drive recovery the program just wonder if I wipe my hard drive and informs me that my data will be destroyed if I use this recovery CD. After this issue alone, it begins with the recovery process. Is ' normal for this drive, he'll ask me any other questions on "what partition will recover and so on and it starts recover after this issue alone?

What Toshiba drive cleanup could I use the case, if this recovery disk deletes all old information from the hard drive to ensure that * all * of my last hard drive is wiped clean?

    Thanks for the reply!

    Hello

If you use the disk recovery Toshiba, all data will be erased on the HARD drive.

Before the start of the resettlement, the HARD drive will be formatted. Malicious software and other software will be deleted.

So you n t need another drive or another program to erase the HARD drive.

Try it and you will see that it works. But first, back up your data.
