Windows 8 from scratch - no product ID
I just bought a floor model HP ENVY model 14-k027cl laptop running Windows 8 Club of Sam. There is nothing with the computer-same food was missing. When I turned on, he started on the activation screen, waiting for a connection to the internet. I could get it on the desk and connect it to my router, and is no longer asking me to activate. However, there is a "zz" on the user's computer and the computer name is "Sam."
I thought it might be a good idea to just start all over again, given that I have not installed anything on this subject, but I have the following questions:
Do I need some kind of activation key to reactivate after the start from scratch?
Exactly how the computer to start from scratch?
Thanks in advance.
Under the application of PC settings, under Update and recovery, there is a "Reset PC" option that gives back to factory conditions. This generally does not require a CD (there is a separate partition of the hard drive for the recovery image), but if this image does not exist, it will ask you for the CD.
With regard to the activation key: it is built into the BIOS on computers that were shipped with Windows 8, no key is required. It is just detected during installation.

Hello
In your other thread, you said that your XP CD is damaged.
The manufacturer normally gives you one way or the other to reinstall; not both.
If you had a recovery partition, this is the information:
http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/document?CC=au&LC=en&docName=bph07145#N296
- Turn on the computer.
- Just after the first screen display (the display of the logo), press the F10 key repeatedly until a recovery menu appears.
- etc.
See you soon.

Reinstall Windows XP Professional without disc
Can I possibly have to reinstall my Windows XP from scratch so I can give it to my friend without the CD? If it helps, it's a computer of American Megatrends. I also need a new installation and power reinstall as if I just got. Thank you. Here's the thing... I had the computer running Windows XP as a gift and it came not with a manual or a recovery disc or anything... just the computer.
Start > all programs
Search for PC help & tools
A click on that and you should see Recovery Manager
Most of the computers: start tapping F10 on reboot to enter Recovery screen

Original title: 10 free for Vista Windows?
Hello
I know that Windows 10 will be a free Windows 7 upgrade or 8/8.1 for the first year. I run Vista Ultimate, and I would like to upgrade to Windows 10 as well. I'm not interested in upgrading my Vista installation - it's almost 10 years and it's time to start over. I'll be able to install Windows 10 from scratch and use my Vista license to activate Windows 10? I totally understand don't want not to support an upgrade of a system of directly to 10 Microsoft Windows Vista, but Vista licenses will be able to 'upgrade' to Windows 10 licenses? I have not found information on it online. Everything speaks to us (ameioration) for Windows 7/8/8.1 for Windows 10. It would be a shame for Microsoft to extend an olive branch to some legitimate users of Windows and others do not.
Thank you
-Paul

Workstation HP Z240 Tower: can I install Windows 7 from scratch?
Greetings!
The operating system on my computer is actually win 10 Pro demoted to Win 7 Pro. I want to know if I can install from scratch Windows 7 in my computer using the Windows 7 disc with the computer.
I was told, the operating system is Windows 10 but it uses an interface of Windows 7. I don't understand the need for this complication. If you can just install Windows 7, so why use an interface? Maybe this computer only works with Windows 10?
What are you trying to do, as you say that you are already using Windows 7?
I do not understand your question about "interface."
The GUI (graphical user Interface) for Windows 10 incorporates most of the features of the GUI for Windows 7 and also of the GUI Windows 8/8.1.
See: http://www8.hp.com/ca/en/products/workstations/product-detail.html?oid=8354563#! = form tab
Your computer was preinstalled with:
Windows 7 Professional 64 (available through 10 Pro 64 Windows downgrade rights)
and also comes with a license and support for Windows 10 Pro software.
My recommendation: given that Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 7 in January 2020 - a short period of absence - install Windows 10 to get security-updates for your computer now and after January 2020.
Suggestion: if you have a "spare" disk drive, disconnect your current hard drive, connect the 'spare' and try to use this support for Windows 7 to install Windows. That should answer your question about "can I install...". ».

Reinstall Windows 7 from scratch on Area 51 ALX
Hi again all,
So, I just bought a new area 51 R2 (not upwards and turns yet, but I'll be sure to change my signature to the new machine in due course!) and need to restore my machine with a fresh install of W7 before I sell it on.
My machine was purchased as a refurb almost new that I got from the selling company to install W7 to before they shipped it. I don't have a recovery partition or DVD (although even if I did, they would put Vista on), so I need to start from scratch. I have a W7 ISO and obviously valid an OEM key. This works because I had to do an excessive installation of W7 a few weeks ago that things started to go wrong.
I remember correctly see the instructions here on how to re - install from scratch, who went into the details on how to add drivers and in what order, but I can't seem to find it.
Can someone point my in the right direction? Thank you! :)
Let's assume that your Mio worked before the reinstall & still work afterwards, given that your case illuminate at least one color; I'd be willing to bet that cmndcntr expected on .net framework 4; If you have installed CmndCntr 2.08.11 while the version need. NET3.5 certainly.

Upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista to get rid of the Virus?
I currently have VISTA, but I just got the CD to upgrade Windows 7 from my school, its necessities by my program (paid with the included activation key). I would like to format my whole hard drive and do a clean install of Windows 7 from scratch. One, I wanted to Windows 7 on the PC anyway and two, I don't know that a good formatting should help get rid of this annoying virus I had trouble with for so long. However, keep in mind that I have only a Windows 7 'Upgrade CD', not the 'full' Version It let me install 7 times I do the formatting, or it only allows me to 'upgrade' to a currently installed operating system? I really wouldn't want to format my drive together and get stuck without being able to install Windows 7. I hope my question is clear. Please let me know if I need to be more specific. Thank you!
Do not reformat the entire disk (leave the partition recovery and system, partitions reserved in place). Then, follow these instructions and be perpaired to activate by phone. Your only other option is to reinstall Vista and then you pass, this can do less annoying activation.

(3) select your "country" in the list.

I have Windows 7 Edition home premium installed 32-bit update. How can I upgrade to 64-bit? Will there be problems of validation so I re-install from scratch?
If you have purchased a retail package, it should include the disk for Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Otherwise, you can download a backup copy at the following link and use the same product key that allows you to enable the 32-bit version. Its a possibility, you may need to reactivate by phone, see below for instructions:
You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.
Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.
Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)
1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4
(2) press the ENTER"" key.
(3) select your "country" in the list.
(4) choose the option "activate phone".

I'm putting together a new mini computer from scratch. Is it possible to recover my Windows XP and install it in my new computer?
This license/copy of Windows XP OEM is * linked * to this Dell system. It is * not * transferable to any other system. This is part of the OEM license agreement. In other words - you did not have licensed copy for Windows XP - the Dell system has. You may not have known/done this so far - and it can't make you very happy with the situation.A decent (albeit simplified) explanation of the difference between a detail a Windows XP license and OEM Windows XP license:As you can see - there's a reason that the OEM license was cheaper and cheaper aspect was why Dell it came with the PC.

How can I reinstall Windows on a new drive without starting from scratch?
I have XP installed on a FAT32 32 GB to a 160 GB HARD drive partition. I ran out of the room into the partition and want to delete the partition, wipe the drive and start over with him as a single partition NTFS drive. Is there a way to preserve XP installed by copying an image to another 160 GB drive installed in the machine, rather than starting from scratch? The same question would apply if I decide instead to upgrade to a larger HARD drive. Thank you.
Because the FAT32 and NTFS file systems are different, you will need boot from scratch and do a "clean install" Windows XP

My Acer Aspire One / Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3, (laptop/netbook computer - no disk drive to insert a disk or anything like that,) only has 1 GB of memory/160 GB of storage and is far off in the ORIGINAL manner, he came, I need to start over from scratch and reload BitDefender 2011 top. :( I can't do it for me take MSN messenger/etc out of it, backups fail, etc.. Does anyone know WHAT to do if you can't insert "recovery disk" (no), and doing it this way? Thank you!
Do you know how to back up your data first? Once you do this, you can follow these instructions:
http://support.Acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/AspireE360/AspireE360faq40.shtml
That being said, why do you do this? A clean install (or its equivalent) is rarely necessary.

Indices from scratch whenever I connect to Windows Desktop Search.
Hello
I was frustrated for a while because my PC seems to work for centuries after the start to the top. Now, I realized that this is because Windows Desktop Search indexes from scratch every time. It takes more than an hour for about 65 000 items in the index and then works fine. But when I switch the computer the next time I log on the number of indexed items is zero and it starts indexing all over again.
I deleted Windows Search and re-installed the latest version, but it's still the case. Surely, it should contain the elements previously indexed.
Any ideas on what I should do?Hi, John Robert E.
· Do you remember recent changes made to your computer before the show?
· What is the service pack installed on the computer?
Rebuild indexing on your computer and check the results:
a. click on start
b. click Control Panel
c. Select indexing options
d. Select the Advanced tab
e. Select rebuild.
