Windows 8 Pro transfer laptop broken again laptop w / Windows 8.1

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to transfer my Windows 8 Pro license (from a cell broken that came pre-installed with Windows 7 and then upgraded to Windows 8 Pro then 8.1 Pro when the update became available) to my new laptop.

I still have the product key as well as the reception of the digital purchase of Windows 8 Pro.

I currently have a new laptop that came pre-installed with the basic version of Windows 8.1.

Thank you in advance.

Edit: I'm hoping to do for Windows 10 pro once it is available.

Hi Juan,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

The task you're trying to run is possible if you have formatted the drive in which you installed Windows 8 Pro and then install Windows 8 Pro on another computer and use the same product key to activate the operating system. You will only be able to activate using the same product key, if you try to install the same version of Windows operating system. This activation can be done by phone.

For more information, see the suggestions provided by Rajesh Govind and Andre Da Costa in the Microsoft Community link.

It will be useful.

Please let us know if you have further questions about Windows. We are happy to help you.

Thank you.

    The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

    3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

I bought a new laptop and you want to install Office 2003 (currently installed on the old unit) is possible to transfer the regestration again, or I will buy new software?

    ianw10,

Office 2003 that is installed on your computer to another is a an installation only. So not your duty go out and buy new software for it.

If it was a purchased copy you can install it on the other computer. just call to activate it.

What I recommend is to only transfer the data file / you created on a USB stick to hold it and not program install as it will require a complete install in another computer so that it works properly and then copy the data file backup / in the right place, and ensure that everything is in working order. Migration software is problematic with the traps that you won't expect.

Can move you to a new Windows 7 computer

If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on a single computer at a time (and if it's a Windows 7 Upgrade version the new computer must have its own qualification license XP/Vista/7). The previous installation of Windows 7 on the old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer. The key works with 32 and 64 bit, but can only be installed at a time.

If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

If you have important files on the desktop, save them first:

Back up all your files and settings to avoid losing documents, photos and other information. Windows Easy Transfer is a free tool to copy files (not programs) from your PC and then transfer back after installation of Windows 7. If you don't want to use Windows Easy Transfer, you can copy your files to a Flash DRIVE or CD/DVD. Note: The easy transfer will not work when changing languages, or when moving from 64 bit to 32 bit (it will work ranging from 32-bit to 64-bit).

  • XP installation LAUGH on 32 Satellite Pro A200 laptop via computer

    Hello

Can anyone help? I try to install 32 laptops (Satellite Pro A200) through Services of Installation Windows 2003 Server remotely. I had problems with network cards and now have these working by adding pilots in a $OEM$, $1, drivers, network card and record the thought that it might be easy to use the same solution to install the drivers for the SATA controller. How wrong could I be! I'm now pulling my hair out. The machines have the drivers installed in the same way ($ $OEM$ etc.) in a directory marked sata. I used the drivers from the Intel - extracts on floppy disk and copied from there site. Whenever I try to recreate the image, I get the same error "Windows does not detect hard drives" and it drives me crazy! I edited risstnrd.sif, textsetup.oem etc etc nothing works.

I found a link on the German Toshiba site to download the drivers in this situation, but the link is quite slow, I tried to download these drivers now three different places (3 different accounts of ADSL) and each begins at about 36 k per second then decreases until bytes per second and then fails. (It's only a 21 MB file!)

If someone managed to deploy these laptops via RIS? If so can you please let me know how you got it done and what drivers you used?

    Thank you very much

    Hello Mark

I think LAUGH installation complicated theme and I'm really skeptical anyone will be able to help you. If you have time, try using the advanced search and check the RIS results as search terms.

Otherwise, you can create your own recovery DVDs and use it for the installation of the OS. For the recovery procedure, you need 20 minutes.

  • I'm not able to install Win XP Pro on laptop Qosmio

I bought a new Qosmio in Ukraine... has been installed XP in Russian, can understand any word. So, back to Istanbul I asked Microsoft about licensing and learned that I have to buy XP Pro additional English (the Russian pre-installed XP is not accepted by Microsoft).

So I spent another $180 for the XP Pro English license. But I can't install it on the laptop. Toshiba must raise all of the idiots who built such a stupid computer. Somehow XP says that there is no hard drive in the unit. It's amazing. The laptop is dependent on language...

    Hi guys

@aydinz: it's a simple fact that the Windows operating system has been pre-installed in the same language are the unit was delivered. If you buy the laptop in Ukraine the OS language is Russian, and if you buy the laptop to the United Kingdom if the OS is in English.

@CarbonXer: I put t know what Setup you use, but usually the drive HARD must be formatted before you start the OS installation procedure. If you do not want XP Home, why do you install another operating system on the unit?

    To all: Happy New Year

    Best regards

I have a workstation with installed HP Win7 Pro laptop refurbished 32-bit hard disk main. I plan to buy a second new HD and install a Win 7 64 bit for having so a dual boot. I had planned out the first HD, plug the new HD and install Win7 64 bit of my DVD for refurbished computer. Plug the first Hd so I can have a dual boot with 32 or 64 bits. I like to know if the procedure is correct or do not know the exact procedure, why I do not know if in the DVD there is also Win7 64 and is also within a DVD where is.
    Thank you for the help
    Valter

You can do that, because the license is only for use with an architecture, 32 or 64 bits. You can't have both on the same computer. So, either you work with Windows 7 64-bit or reinstall Windows 7 32 bit on the new hard drive.

the key that can be used with 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 is designed to drive 1. You cannot use install both. 1 license, 1 installation, so choose wisely. If you want to install Windows 7 32 or 64 bit on another partition or another computer, you must purchase an additional license.

    2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS.

    a. one copy per computer. You can install one copy of the software on a single computer. This computer is "licensed computer.

    b. a computer license. You can use the software on up to two processors of the computer under license at some point. Except as provided in these license terms, you cannot use the software on any other computer.

    c. number of users. Except as provided in these license terms, only one user may use the software at a time.

    d. other Versions. The software may include several versions, such as 32-bit and 64-bit. You may install and use only one version at a time.

  • Satellite Pro L300D laptop won't turn on

    Hello

My laptop has decided that it will switch to me.
I have tried with battery and AC cable in French - nothing, cable of battery and AC in French - nothing.

However I left load the laptop with the battery in about an hour, and the computer is started when the button is pressed.
However, it starts to load and initial Windows is displayed but the screen becomes black (but always on) and freezes, I can't turn off it because now the power button does not work (I tried various times holding!)

I had a glance on this forum and cannot find any suggestions, I have not tried, so everyone has no more or should I just go to an ASP?

The laptop was purchased at the end of March so I'm really very annoyed at this fault happening so fast! :(

    any help is very appreciated
    Thank you
    Clare

    Hello

    It its good doesn t...
The laptop must function properly and it should stop by pressing the power button for 4 seconds.
It should also start without any big problems

Just a question; is it possible to reinstall the OS and redefine the laptop to factory settings?
If this isn't the case then I would be highly recommended to contact the ASP because the guarantee seems to be valid and the ASP technician should repair at our expense

In my opinion, it's the best procedure

  • Re-install XP on a Fujitsu - Siemens Amilo Pro V2000 Laptop.

Hi all out there. It's my first time here, I hope not my last. I hope someone can answer the question below, or can point me in the right place on the forums, find the information that I need to solve the problems, there is with the machine.

It's NOT my laptop, I just look for someone else (never a good idea I know!), because I thought I knew a reasonable amount about computers. The person who is the owner of the laptop is on benefits and has very little money. The purchase date is not known.
The hard drive has failed and so I installed a new laptop. However, I'm unable to re - install Windows XP! I formatted and initialized hard drive and partitioned into two. I resorted to downloading the XP boot from floppies (three times on two different computers!) direct from Microsoft. It downloads on 6 floppy disks (remember, so slow!). XP starts to load and takes the first 5 disks, ok. Drive 6 starts to load and then give the BSOD! every time! I tried every thing & scrap of knowledge I have (which I think was a fair bit after having used computers since 1986 & BACK) 3 I also wrote my thesis on computers at the University).
All the others were there any other information or advice or anything like that, that will promote the position from here. Additionally, this morning the machine start at all, it now just to give four 4 beeps and stops, & will not do anything else.

Hoping you can help, as soon as possible.

Thanking you in advance & regards

    Hello Mawgwr

As for your question, Windows XP installation is not your biggest problem right now, the system not boot the system and give the beep codes is. It is an indication that perhaps the material missed somehow. I found some information on the beep codes for your system. However, the listed codes found 1 single seems to fit as you have described. 1 long beep and 3 short beeps. It is an indication of memory failure. My suggestion would be to try to start from only one card memory and consider the charging system, or you may contact Fujitsu to hardware support. Thank you.
