  Recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. After that, a lot of problems to do Office 2003 and 2007 to play nice. Finish by uninstalling and reinstalling both. Now, applications seem to be happy, except for Word 2003 AND 2007, eager to relocate whenever they are launched. The biggest problem now is that the Office SP2 will not install. Tried registry cleaning, download .exe standalone and as an administrator and also using the tool PatchRegCleanup - x 86 .exe (which gives me a message "productcode must be determined" and makes me want to go out).   I am trying to configure a newly purchased office of Acer (Aspire ACX - 603 G-UW31), who has installed Windows 8.1, for my mother who cannot grasp the steep learning curve of Windows 7 to Windows 8.

  I have a licensed copy of Windows 7 x 64 on DVD, and even after the SecureBoot mode off then launch MSC forever and then starting with F12, by selecting the DVD drive as a boot device, Windows will not install correctly.

  OPTION B: There is a good chance that you see the effects of a hijackware infection!

  Hi, I have a problem with the update of my windows. It started after a fact a factory reset. Here's the history:

  I have a some what old laptop (8 years). It came with a Vista installed with service pack 1 installed at the factory. Over the years, I did a few factory resets (every 2-3 years). I never had problems up to now. What is happening now is that I can not exceed SP2. I tried two different ways, none of them worked. After the reset, I first uninstall a bunch of stupid programs that came with the laptop, and then defragment and then have two ways to proceed. I tried to use windows update, installed more than 100 updates, updates install held until finally I offered service Pack2, installed successfully but then no more updates were offered. Then I tried a different approach - a new reset, uninstall, Defrag, and then downloaded and installed SP2 directly from the Download Center. And again the same thing happens. From the SP2 installation I check updates, download the new update agent and nothing happens after that. He keeps looking for new updates all day (about 50% of the processor by using all the time).

  I read some articles and discussions but could not find anyone with the same problem (most of the users reported some error codes which is something I can't do). I tried the fix tool - it does nothing! Whenever I run it, it is mistakes - sometimes 2, sometimes up to 5. Sometimes, it makes account all fixed, other times that it reports missing or corrupt files do not set. Whatever the results if I restart and when I try to check for updates again it is still the same story.

  Also I tried to install it manually IE9 as soon as SP2 is installed (I understand that this is not supported under SP1) but the installation fails. I expected to be available in updates, but as I don't get updates I tried to install it myself. Not sure if it's related (although I guess it is), but the Defender is not able to verify new definitions either.

  Any suggestions? Maybe the registry is damaged or some of the files using the update agent is are corrupt? There are currently no antivirus program installed that could block whatever it is. I haven't touched Windows Firewall somehow everything must therefore be attributed to the default values.

  You understand is that? I came across exactly the same problem... restoration of an old book to give to a family member, and every time I came to the point of installing SP2 and a more recent windows update agent just after, I couldn't install more updates. It would block 'check updates' forever. Tried twice, same problem. However, I tried some things differently the third time and exceeded the question.

  Let me know if you still need help, and I will respond with what I've done.

  Hi there Microsoft overlords. I was wondering if you could help me. I've seen a similar thread on the final update not install it, but I don't know enough about variables in order to know if it is a minor or major problem and how to fix it. Any help woul be appreciated.

  I am running Windows Vista on a Toshiba Sataleite Pro 2010. I ran two FULL virus scans last night, with Avast free protection and another with Windows Essentials I think. Windows has found a number of serious threats that I hit the function apply on. Then I did a scan with Avast.

  Then after I finished the second virus with Avast scan, the laptop began something strange. The screen went black shortly after it (not immediately think"I") and he began to make a safe-mode-esque all programs, including the documents and my downloads of loading. He said it was a bookkit or a rootkit or something similar. I don't quite remember.

  There is a driver recommended relatively complete for the Deskjet 6540 written by HP and Microsoft via Windows Update.  If the automatic install does not work, perform the following steps: connect the printer by USB.  Click Start, devices and printers, adding a printer, select the appropriate port and when the list of printers, click Windows Update in the lower right part of the dialog box.  It will take a few minutes for the update to complete, once that he choose the Deskjet HP (Hewlett-Packard no) 6500 Series.

  If for some reason you can't use the driver provided through Windows Update, you can download the driver from the Windows Catalog site.  The Windows Catalog site requires the use of Internet Explorer.  For the Dsekjet 6500 Series there are three drivers listed.  11.4 Mo is the x 86 32-bit driver.  11.6 Mb file is x 64 64 bit version.  13.9 MB file is the least common architecture IA64.
