WU, MU will not install the updates downloaded or optional updates selected. No error code is given, it remains at 0% for as long I leave or I cancel installation. I tried to install individually in MS catalogue still will not be installed. This is a new computer that I built in July and punishment, it has not been used. It's strange because for the first three weeks of this computer, I had no problem with the installation of all available updates, or anything else. Then when the updates of August were available I chose all security updates and install optional updates that have already downloaded click on the button and nothing happened, it remained only on 0%. My question is, is there an update that was given earlier that caused these updates not installed? I really want to use my new computer, but I don't like to run without new security and the latest updates. I had trouble before what do.

I used all the security software listed above on all my computers for about 5 to 10 years and non of them are set to prevent windows update from working.

Please try another attempt to update, y d diddty. During the update installation fails again, close Windows Update.

Open the WindowsUpdate.log and copy & paste in at least the last 50 lines or so, in your response, please.
How to read the Windowsupdate.log file

Meanwhile, suggest to configure Windows 7 to the clean boot and see if he can install updates in the clean boot state.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

NOTE: in the Clean boot state ZoneAlarm will be disabled. Make sure that the native Win 7 firewall is now on in the Panel.

While in the clean boot state, you can also try to download and Save the Fixit found here -How to reset the Windows Update components?
Once the download completes close all open programs and browsers.
Now launch Microsoft Fixit 50202.msi and choose the default mode.
When it has finished turn the system reboot to clean it from same start State and see if updates can install now.

If no joy, run the Fixit once more and choose aggressive mode.
Then restart on the same State of clean boot and see if update succeeds now.

  • Office 2007 SP2 on Windows 7 will not install

Recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. After that, a lot of problems to do Office 2003 and 2007 to play nice. Finish by uninstalling and reinstalling both. Now, applications seem to be happy, except for Word 2003 AND 2007, eager to relocate whenever they are launched. The biggest problem now is that the Office SP2 will not install. Tried registry cleaning, download .exe standalone and as an administrator and also using the tool PatchRegCleanup - x 86 .exe (which gives me a message "productcode must be determined" and makes me want to go out). Yes, Office 2007 disk is inserted. All other updates installed correctly.  Any help appreciated.

I have a licensed copy of Windows 7 x 64 on DVD, and even after the SecureBoot mode off then launch MSC forever and then starting with F12, by selecting the DVD drive as a boot device, Windows will not install correctly.

The very first steps of the configuration are very well, it is, I'm asking the press actually starts to any key to boot from the DVD, Windows Setup loads some files, but the problem comes when the installation of Windows. I get a STOP error to the ASF with the message "The BIOS in this system is not fully complaint ACPI." There is no BIOS update for this model. That's the traditional way...

    Any ideas?

    Thank you, Nick

  • Windows Vista will not install new updates after installing SP2

Hi, I have a problem with the update of my windows. It started after a fact a factory reset. Here's the history:

I have a some what old laptop (8 years). It came with a Vista installed with service pack 1 installed at the factory. Over the years, I did a few factory resets (every 2-3 years). I never had problems up to now. What is happening now is that I can not exceed SP2. I tried two different ways, none of them worked. After the reset, I first uninstall a bunch of stupid programs that came with the laptop, and then defragment and then have two ways to proceed. I tried to use windows update, installed more than 100 updates, updates install held until finally I offered service Pack2, installed successfully but then no more updates were offered. Then I tried a different approach - a new reset, uninstall, Defrag, and then downloaded and installed SP2 directly from the Download Center. And again the same thing happens. From the SP2 installation I check updates, download the new update agent and nothing happens after that. He keeps looking for new updates all day (about 50% of the processor by using all the time).

I read some articles and discussions but could not find anyone with the same problem (most of the users reported some error codes which is something I can't do). I tried the fix tool - it does nothing! Whenever I run it, it is mistakes - sometimes 2, sometimes up to 5. Sometimes, it makes account all fixed, other times that it reports missing or corrupt files do not set. Whatever the results if I restart and when I try to check for updates again it is still the same story.

Also I tried to install it manually IE9 as soon as SP2 is installed (I understand that this is not supported under SP1) but the installation fails. I expected to be available in updates, but as I don't get updates I tried to install it myself. Not sure if it's related (although I guess it is), but the Defender is not able to verify new definitions either.

Any suggestions? Maybe the registry is damaged or some of the files using the update agent is are corrupt? There are currently no antivirus program installed that could block whatever it is. I haven't touched Windows Firewall somehow everything must therefore be attributed to the default values.

You understand is that? I came across exactly the same problem... restoration of an old book to give to a family member, and every time I came to the point of installing SP2 and a more recent windows update agent just after, I couldn't install more updates. It would block 'check updates' forever. Tried twice, same problem. However, I tried some things differently the third time and exceeded the question.

Let me know if you still need help, and I will respond with what I've done.

  • Windows 7 will not install the drivers or windows updates

    Hello

I tried to update my iPhone 5 and in the middle of the update, when my computer tried to install a new device driver, the installation failed. I tried to use a flash drive I've ever used on my computer and its driver installation failed as well. However, I used the iPhone 4 friend (that I used to have) and it worked fine. It seems that my computer don't just install the new drivers. The drivers that I have used before still work. In addition to my driver problem, my computer will also not succeed a windows update. Download updates, but then when I restart the computer to apply the updates, it fails every time. Any idea will be useful. My phone is currently stuck in recovery mode and iTunes can't recognize it to restore it because of my driver problem.

    Thank you

    Hello Cara,

This problem is usually due to any third-party security software that blocks the installation. I would like to know some information about this problem so that we could help youo more.

    1. what security software is installed on your computer?

    2. do you get any error code or error message? (Mention the error message)

    3. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

As a first step, I suggest you to reset the Windows Update components and check.

How to reset the Windows Update components?

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058/en-us

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it works for you.

    Method 1:

  • Another problem of Installation of Service Pack 1 of Windows Vista - will not install

Hey guys, a greeting from Belgium in my first post.

I recently reinstalled my Windows; This is a Home XP and a Vista Edition Home Premium (updated, so I need to install XP first).
When I got it setup XP, which goes perfectly to SP3, I switched to Vista. All the small updates installed outside for a few "failures" caused by Vista stop updates itself, because they were not absolutely necessary.

When SP1 popped up, I decided to download both and see other things, but when you try to install through Windows Update I get the error message "this update cannot continue while some services are still in use" or so, I don't remember the exact message or code.

When I downloaded the SP1 on the Microsoft site, it worked better and smoother then Windows Update but also to is crushed when the progress bar has been a little more than half. Yet once again, I don't know the exact code but I do not know the message: "update cannot continue because of an internal problem.

    That's what I tried:

    -Retry it 40 times
    -Try in safe mode
-Turn off all the other third part of the programs, including Win Defender
    -Tried the system update tool
    -Keep hope

    That's what I did afterwards:

    -Save all my settings
-Rebooted and selected the dualboot XP
-Formatted the separate partition holding the part of the dualboot Vista
-Reinstalled on the same partition with the recommended settings, no change

I would like to have an answer soon, people. I would be incredibly grateful if this could be resolved. Future changes may include error codes given.

    Hello Fallycrom,

  • Windows 7 will not install the driver for hp deskjet 6540

I followed all the instructions on the site of HP and windows will not find and install the driver for my HP 6540. How to make Windows do what should or is there a reliable place to download the driver from?

There is a driver recommended relatively complete for the Deskjet 6540 written by HP and Microsoft via Windows Update.  If the automatic install does not work, perform the following steps: connect the printer by USB.  Click Start, devices and printers, adding a printer, select the appropriate port and when the list of printers, click Windows Update in the lower right part of the dialog box.  It will take a few minutes for the update to complete, once that he choose the Deskjet HP (Hewlett-Packard no) 6500 Series.

If for some reason you can't use the driver provided through Windows Update, you can download the driver from the Windows Catalog site.  The Windows Catalog site requires the use of Internet Explorer.  For the Dsekjet 6500 Series there are three drivers listed.  11.4 Mo is the x 86 32-bit driver.  11.6 Mb file is x 64 64 bit version.  13.9 MB file is the least common architecture IA64.

  • Windows 8 will not install games, I had running on my XP service pack 3.

Windows 8 on new asus laptop moved games I have running on my Dell XP SP3, I ran the compatibility options, and even if the computer recognizes that iam version try to install it always used to install. the same program can be easily installed on the XP computer I still so there is no apparent problem with the program itself.

I also checked the option to run programs in XP compatibility mode but still no results.

If you are referring to the games that came in previous versions of Windows, these have been removed by Microsoft and are not available period. You can find a lot of free games in the store of Windows 8, or you can download from the internet.  Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.
