Windows 98 SE on the Satellite 4060XCDT - PCMCIA problems

WE HAVE A 4060XCDT SATELLITE LAPTOP WITH WINDOWS 98SE, WE HAD AN ADAPTER LAPTOP THAT HAS BEEN SUBSCRIBED FOR SECURITY, WHEN WE TRIED TO PUT IT BACK FOUND AN ERROR 28. BELIEVE IT MEANS MISSING DRIVER/S RESEARCH IN UNDER PCMCIA SOCKET DEVICE MANAGER IT IS A CONTROLLER OF PCMCIA COMPATIBLE CCIP WITH AN EXCLAMATION MARK IN YELLOW.

TECHNICALLY NOT VERY MIND OK ON THE BASES SO DON'T KNOW IF IT IS SOMETHING THAT COULD BE CORRECTED WITH THE DRIVERS, OR IF IT IS SOMETHING MORE SERIOUSLY WRONG. IT IS THERE NO TEST AS SOFTWARE ALREADY INSTALLED & WINDOWS 98 INSTALLATION DISC SECOND EDITION IS OLD & SUPPORTED EITHER MICROSOFT.

WOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR ADVICE ON KNOW IS THERE WAY TO FIX IT, & HOW TO FIX IF POSSIBLE & IF THERE'S SOMETHING WE COULD DO TO GIVE THE LAPTOP A LIFE LONGER.

Thank you

PETERMAC

Oh man this laptop is 12 years old.

> WE HAD A LAPTOP THAT HAS BEEN SUBSCRIBED TO THE SECURITY ADAPTER
Which adapter? AC adapter? Security? What you are writing about?
Is this laptop preinstalled with recovery disk Toshiba or you have installed the OS on your own?
Have you installed all the drivers for the Toshiba download page?

I checked the Toshiba page and Win98 drivers are available?

I have a Satellite A60, I thought that the HARD drive was not on.

    Hello

If reinstalling the system does not work, you can try to reinstall the BIOS. If not help too, the problem must be hardware related. Your only chance is a service partner, cause then you can't do it yourself.

    Hello

It seems that your boot record is too bad.
You need a Windows disk to repair this

    For example Win 7 disc
If you n t have such drive, ask a friend who could borrow the Win 7 DVD.
Using the startup disk, and then choose the option "Repair your computer", located in the lower left corner of the screen. Then click on repair and restart and restart again in the Windows 7 System Repair environment.
When the System Recovery Options is displayed, make sure that use recovery tools that can help solve the problems of Windows startup is selected. Now in the menu list, select the command line option, and in the the DOS prompt type the following three commands:

    Bootrec.exe /fixmbr
Bootrec.exe /fixboot (may return a not found message "Eliment")
    Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd

Close the command prompt window, and then click the Startup Repair option.
Now you must wait until the process ends at what point you will see two messages:
Windows cannot repair this computer automatically and Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically. Ignore the Don't Send/don't send options.

Close this message window (click X in the upper right of the Send/don't send window)
Then click view advanced options for the recovery option and support system and in the main menu once more click on startup repair.

This time the repair process can only a few seconds and when prompted the startup repair couldn't detect a problem, click Finish and run the Startup Repair option once more, click on finish, then remove the DVD to repair the system and click on restart.

    Restart the computer. Here :)

Hello. I have a Toshiba satellite A100-036 laptop with windows vista home basic 32-bit, and I have the following problems.

    1. they replace me the hard drive in a store. I don't have the Toshiba dvd recovery I used to format the windows. They told me that I can't use it more because the recovery of the disk partition is lost. If I want to format again what should I do?

If you have installed another pointing PS/2 device driver please uninstall the synaptics driver by clicking on the Yes button. If I restart the laptop, it still does not work and I do the same things.

    3. whenever I turn on the laptop the bluetooth does not work and the bluetooth icon does not appear in the taskbar. I have to go to Device Manager, uninstall the driver, go to control panel > bluetooth local com and it works again. Whenever I turn on the laptop I have to do this.

    > 1. they replaced the hard drive in a store. I don't have the Toshiba dvd recovery I used to format the windows. They told me that I can't use it because the recovery of the disk partition is lost. If I want to format again what should I do?
If you have the Toshiba recovery disc in the past, you can use it as part of the new HARD drive. The Toshiba Recovery disk would fix the laptop back to factory settings, which means that you have installed Windows system, Toshiba drivers and additional software.

    > 2. The touchpad scrolling does not work everytime I turn on the laptop. I go to control panel > mouse and it shows me this message: "unable to connect to the score. synaptics device driver. > I click on no and once it works again and the synaptics pointing device icon reappear in the taskbar. If I restart the laptop, it still does not work and I do the same things.
Go to the page of the Toshiba UE driver and download the driver for the Synaptics touchpad. Install the touchpad driver and reboot the laptop. Usually, this should solve your problem.

    > 3. Whenever I turn on the laptop the bluetooth does not work and the bluetooth icon does not appear in the taskbar. I have to go to Device Manager, uninstall the driver, go to control panel > bluetooth local com and it works again. Whenever I turn on the laptop I have to do this.

It's strange. Usually the BT should work if the BT stack has been installed correctly. Please note that you must activate the BT using the fn (FN + F8). This combination turns on and the WiFi also. So make sure you did it correctly.

    > 4. Whenever I turn on the laptop the Security Center is turned off and I have to turn it on or automatic updates are disabled and I have to turn them on.

  • Cannot install Windows XP Pro on the Satellite A100-411

    Hello

IA´ve you have a question. I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-411 with Windows Vista Home Premium. Because of the performance that would have me much better with Windows XP, I tried to install Windows Xp on a second partition, but on the same hard drive.

The problem is that it did not work, I put the Windows XP cd in my DVD player, did a restart and started from the cd.
The first window Windows Xp installation opened and checked my system, but when he did and
wantet to start the main installation, I got a blue screen, where stood her system was closed due to an error and that I should change my video card, or should I turn caching and shadowing in my Bios.

But my video card really works and is ok and I can't find the caching and shadowing in bios, so I can't install windows xp.

So my question is is it possible to install Windows XP on the A100-411 when Vista is installed on the other Partition.

I did something wrong or isn´t is it possible to install Windows Xp after Windows Vista on an A100-411
Sorry for my bad English and greetings from the Germany

    Hello

Of course, it should be possible to install Windows XP on the second partition.
First you must create the partition. Vista provide a clean option for partitions of creation because the 3rd party applications such as Partitions magic doesn't work under Vista. In disk management you can reduce the size of a partition of first and could create a second partition on the HARD disk free space.

All your Windows XP CD contain service packs? I myself remember more old CD s WinXP don't were not delivered with SP2! In such cases, it s a good idea to create a clean XP Boot CD using 3rd application called nLite. Its freeware and you could find on the net!

    Please check this!

I searched on Internet forums, some people have had similar problems on a computer no-Toshiba with XP and the problem was caused because the XP installation CD does not have S - ATA Raid Controller drivers? Which after pressing F6 at the start-up of the plant, solved the problem.

However, I was unable to find the drivers for the controller S - ATA Raid on Toshiba support site, and I don't know where to find them. Someone knows something like that and it is due to S - ATA Raid Controller drivers? And if the answer is Yes, where can I find them since?

    Hello

Everything you need you can find on Toshiba Canada support page http://209.167.114.38/support/Download/ln_byModel.asp#
When you choose your part number do not forget, you use PSAANC-VA505C number (check also on the laptop label in the lower corner of your laptop).

Now, back to the blue screen. As far as I know for this model of laptop is not necessary to install the S - ATA Raid Controller at the beginning of the procedure of the facilities. For laptops with RAID driver this driver is available on the download page. This driver is not available for your laptop model.
