  If I understand correctly, you have 2 computers that have all two windows 7 Ultimate installed on them and the two are not on the field.   I hate to say it, but it would be a great time for a bigger hard drive.  While 40 GB meets at least for installation you really need more for in-place-upgrading a system using 37 GB.  Setup needs space for temporary files, its own temporary relocation, etc.
