Windows allowing not to load programs

Windows now does weird things. To start a program, I have to click on its icon. Then Windows asks what program I want to open it with. It does not allow me to do a cover or restore either. I just tried to download SP2 and he asked me what program to use, I chose the stub and then he asked what I wanted to use to run spinstall, because there are no files on the computer, I can't install SP2. I wish to address this problem. I tried to support, but the site does not recognize the pid for the operating system, even if it is the same format they require. Any help would be great.

Thank you

Mike

I posted this message once before, and somebody said to go back to internet explorer 7 and uninstall internet explorer 8 I did. It has not corrected the problems, so a few days later I went back to I.E.8. I have all the Vista undates installed including service pack 1 and 2.

Someone said to just reinstall Vista with the disk I got from Dell with my computer, but that didn't work. To the low laoded all files, and then when he went to develop he got 27 percent and stopped while I had to close and the computer went baclk to my old settings.

I'm not good at this stuff and I am quite at a loss to know where to go or what to do.

I tried to look for problems in the way that someone told me to and he said that some files were corrupt, but when I tried to find out which he says I didn't have permission to view this list.

After hours of searching I found the problem. I got 8.5 AGV antivirus installed and tried to upgrade to AVG 9.0, something went wrong and he fucked up eveything. Fortunately, AVG Web site had heard of this problem and it had a fix for this. Now everything is back to working perfectly. I hope this answer helps someone else. • Restore VISTA after Windows 7 not genuine loading

I inadvertently installed a non-genuine version of windows 7.  In order to correct the problem, I decided to run the rocovery system to retrieve my loaded original software.  Cam Windows Vista downloaded on my Compaq Presario desktop computer and the PC came not with the installation disc as the files were stored in the part of the recovery.  I followed the instructions and made backups on DVD 14.  When I finished the backups and finsished blow, the PC restarted and the message came that the Boot MGR was not found.  It seems now that I don't have an operating system.  Why the recovery program not located and restore my Vista OS?  I do not see why I would need to buy another OS, if I had alreay Vista downloaded on the PC.

    http://www.Compaq.com/CPQ-country/cpq_support.html

Problem with the recovery process, contact the manufacturer of the computer.

This isn't their recovery process, Microsoft.

Also contact Compaq and ask them to send you a set of recovery Vista disc/s.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

Contacts Windows does not appear in 'Programs' in my new laptop using Windows 7, although I brought all my contacts in my old laptop using Windows Vista.  Everything I found online dealing with issues related to the importation of these contacts began with directions to open Windows Contacts under start programs. What should I do to get the Windows Contacts is displayed in all programs?

I've never had Windows Contacts in all programs in Windows 7.

I think that Vista had the Windows Contacts in all programs.

You have posted in forum Windows XP hardware and drivers.  You should have posted in forum Windows 7, probably the forumprograms .

If you post here, remember to include the name of the application that could not be loaded. Is Yahoo Messenger? Something else ("all applications for which I get this error")?

Your question is also confusing: you get this error message every time that you do a reboot?

You can use msconfigor Autoruns (look at the 'Connection' tab) to temporarily disable programs that start automatically when you log in to isolate the application that is causing the problem.

    Hi FilippoPosato,

This problem may occur if the Hal.dll and Ntoskrnl.exe files are mismatched.

To resolve this problem, start your computer from the Windows CD, and then upgrade Windows on-site.

  • What does error loading program.exe.mean under Windows 98?

I have an old system with Windows 98 on it.  I get an "error loading program.exe. -You must reinstall Windows' message every time I try to sign.  I don't have the original disc. How can I fix?

    Hello Michielle,

To answer your question, program.exe loading error means that the program is not installed on your system.
Andrew is correct, that the support for Windows 98 was arrested in 2006.

Since Windows 98, we have 4 new operating system commercialized by Microsoft. Most of the new computers would not yet go Windows 98 as there are no available drivers for the new hardware.

It would be better to upgrade.

I used to be able to right-click on a photo and bring up a window allowing me to resize, brighten, control eyes red etc, but he disappeared and I can not find. Can anyone help please?               Don Fitzpatrick_795

Thanks for trying to help me and I found already this site but was'nt be able to make it work for me, probably because I'm 82 years old and am certainly not a guru when it comes to computers, but if you have other thoughts on the subject, they will be welcome as long as they are simple, if you get what I mean.

Since we have no way to know what you
already tried or what the program that has been
you were happy with... this question is difficult to
    fix.

Question... When you view your photos now
.. are you using Windows Live Photo Gallery?

I'm guessing it was Windows Photo
    Gallery?

Perhaps the two programs are still available...

I wonder if you could go to... Start Orb / All
Programs / Windows Photo Gallery... and
the launch of the old version?

    Hello hedubang,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

I suggest to try the safe mode and see if you can install it in safe mode or if there is a conflict.

Start the program in safe mode

    1. reboot your computer and start pressing F8 on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured to start to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when you see the boot menu.

    2. when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.

3 log on to Windows by using the administrator account or any account of a user with administrator privileges.

Note: In Safe Mode, your display system and the Bureau will look and perform differently than in Normal Mode. This is only temporary. To return the system to Normal mode, we can simply restart the computer.

To determine if the problem that occurs with the program is caused by another program that is running in the background, we recommend that you restart the computer in safe mode and then test the program. If the program runs correctly in safe mode, but does not properly run in normal mode, it probably is another program that is conflicting with the program in question.

To determine which program is causing a conflict with the program in question, we recommend that you perform a "clean boot" of the computer. A clean boot is designed to disable programs and services in the background as much as possible. This helps determine which service or program can be the cause of the problem.

For more information about how to perform a clean boot for troubleshooting, click the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

929135 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/) how to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista and Windows 7
