Windows explore collapsers/expanders missing directory, elements faded

Hello

When I recently rebuilt my computer Windows XP,

Windows Explorer displays the directories differently in partitions nonsystem remaining versions compared to the new system partition.

the spirit,
(1) expanders/collapsers lacked elements of directory in the right panel, and
(2) all items have disappeared in the right panel.

Apart from that, Windows Explorer accesses these items in same directory.

by comparing directories security settings in a non system partition of directories in the system partition, I don't see anything that would cause this behavior.

configuration:
Windows XP Professional sp3
Pentium Dual-Core e5400 2.70 GHz
3.24 GB of ram

I discovered that faded are items that the value of the hidden attribute and directories without collapsers/expanders are the value of the hidden attribute.

In the Windows XP Explorer: is there a way to create a custom button so that no matter where you are in a different drive, directory and subdirectory... all you have to do is click on the custom button and return to your default directory?  If this is not the case, is a custom button another way to do it.  Currently, I click on the [Back] button or use the button [Back] drop down to return to the default value.  Ok, but not really okay because it takes a click and return to the default value.

    Hi Steven Geib,

Unfortunately, the service back to the default directory is not present in Windows, and as it is a design, there is nothing we can do from our end.

If you want to suggest changes in the design here is the link you can make reference to: return products.

As an alternative, you can use the tree view in Windows Explorer instead of back to the desired location in windows Explorer.

  • How to organize several Windows Explorer from a command line

I have several remote users who we want to upload files to our ftp site.  Most is not at all computer savvy.  Giving them instructions too little almost ensures that they feel frustrated and not worth trying.  I gave them two commands to copy into Run - it opens Windows Explorer in c: / and the other opens a second instance of Windows Explorer in the FTP directory.  My question is, is there any command which can be written which will organize the windows in some way?  The computers they use belong to our customers and are located in trailers of work on site.  There is no hope to have the ftp file transfer software installed; so the only way that we can get him to cooperate is making it as easy as possible for them and using Windows Explorer.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Highest point in Windows Explorer - starts the second element

I want to move my file system using only the keyboard. When I open Windows Explorer (Win + E), I then go into a folder using the down / up arrows and enter. The bug is that first the arrow down key does not select the first folder (or file) in the directory that I am. It's very frustrating when you use the keyboard to navigate.

The same problem exists when you type a letter if the letter happens to match the first 2 directories, then it will first hit the second directory and then loop around to strike first.
Then imagine that you have a folder called
Test, and inside this folder, you have 3 files:
    AA, Ab, B
Now being tested in Windows Explorer and do nothing select. Simply go to the folder.
Now click on the arrow pointing down - Ab is selected instead of Aa.
Or you can go to Test, and then click the a key, which must choose the first folder that begins with one. Once again, Ab is selected.
It seems that the problem is that by default Windows is the first selected item, but does not give it focus, also does nothing. The only way to get the first point of focus is by pressing downwards and upwards.
It was also broken on Windows 7.
Someone at - it a resolution?

When I try to copy a file to an external device using Windows Explorer I get the following error message: "cannot copy.  The directory or file cannot be created. "I understand that I may have the physical limit of USB keys for the root directory.  How can I fix it?

    Hi GloriaZF,

What is the size of your external hard drive and what is the available free space? Open my computer-> right click on the external hard drive-> properties. You will not be able to copy more data if the disk is full, or who have less space compared to the size of the file you are trying to copy.

You need to remove the order data to make the space more. Deleted data from the device USB will be permanently deleted and will not be stored in your Inbox, so take care while eliminating unnecessary data.

  • e250v2 Playlist file missing in Windows Explorer

I didn't exaclty know how it happened. I enjoyed my e250v2 much. I create playlists on WMP 11.0.5721.5260 and sync them with my sansa and everything works fine.

Suddenly, the drive letter has changed, and the small logo of device Sansa is missing when I use Windows Explorer to access files on my Sansa. The file seems / is different. There is no playlist file at all. However, when you use the camera itself, there is a playlist in the playlist file. I have manually all the music files from the sansa itself, but a "playlist" of delelted is always in the "playlist" folder which is always there.

Also, when I sync a new reading list for the sansa now, the music files are present in the folder "music", but there is no "reading list" in the playlist folder (other than the above mentioned empty playlist.

What USB setting you normally use? If your drive is on Auto Detect, it means he was able to connect in the MTP or MSC mode. If it is passed it could account for the different 'look'.

Try to switch between the 2 modes and see if things return to normal.

Better manually the value to be one or the other and say - considers the parameter "default".

  • Why the content of auto-scroll in Windows Explorer when you double-click an element?

Why content (columns) to auto-scroll in Windows Explorer (on the left) when you double-click an element?  And how can you stop that?

    How to reproduce:

    -Open a Windows Explorer window
-Big enough to be able to see the columns 2 and 3
Double click on an element of the extreme right or the last column
-All content automatically scrolls to the left so that the column of the element double you clicked is now in the first column of the window

It is REALLY BORING because it causes bad clicks when it scrolls or to always click 4 times to open a folder or a file if it is located on the far right or the last column.

  • Add the "Print Directory Listing" option to the context menu of Windows Explorer

Get the error message when you try to use the "Print Directory Listing" solution found in:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321379/en-us on my new Windows 7 system (from February 2010).

Could create the context menu of Windows Explorer for the task, but selecting just results in the following error message:

"This file doesn't have an associatd with her program to perform this action. Please install a program or... to create an association in the default programs control panel. »

Wentback and checked my Regedit work.  Even deleted the new key and she recreated (just in case.)

NOTE: I had successfully used the instructions in this article to add "Print Directory Listing features on Windows XP systems, so I reviewed these instructions to see differences and noticed that it * no. * 'associate' step for Vista/Win7 in the article, but this step still shown for XP.»

And, there seems to be NO WAY to associate a program (in this case, a ".bat") with all of 'record' as target.  Only choices I see these in the 'control panel default programs ' are'. [extensions] "and the protocols.

    So I'm puzzled.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    SJ Pratt

I just tried this with instructions to the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321379/en-us link you provided and it worked fine.

In view of the error you get here are my assumptions to what may be the problem.  Please try these out and answer:

-Because it denounces, "file doesn't have an associated program.." I would make sure that when you created with Notepad the file .bat you na not to create a file called 'Printdir.bat.txt' or 'Printdir.bat.some_bad_extension '.  If your Windows Explorer settings are set to hide file extensions when you look at a file name, then maybe the REAL file extension you give the command file is being hidden on your part and Windows does not know how to open a file with the extension hidden type.  Make sure that you can see all the file extensions and make sure that the batch file is named with the .bat extension.

-If you see very well all the file extensions in Windows Explorer and your file is called really Printdir.bat, make sure that you have saved in your root directory of Windows.  If you access %windir% you see Printdir.bat inside there?  If this isn't the case, put it there.  If you do, when you double-click the .bat file Windows run without error and print the dir?  If it works, you know that the batch file works correctly.

-There's a typing error in the instructions for Vista/Windows 7, check that your registry entries look like this:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\Print directory Listing\command

This shows the new key under shell called "Print Directory Listing" and inside this key/folder another folder/key named "command".

To within the key/folder 'command', it takes only one entrance with the name of (by default).  Double-click (default) and make sure that its value data is set to:

    Printdir.bat %1

-You shouldn't need step "the associate" in Windows 7.

-You can add "Add Print Directory Listing to the context menu of Windows Explorer" for the title of your question so that others can find it.

  • Remove "Print Directory Listing" option to context menu in Windows Explorer

remove the "Print Directory Listing" of Windows 7, the Windows Explorer context menu and corresponding registry cleaning

This answer is not answering the question of how do to REMOVE the feature list of directories printed after installation using the referenced article.  The question is how you UNINSTALL both printed directories list the choices no longer appears in the right click menu?

    Thank you!

  • Missing vertical lines in Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer is missing vertical lines in the folder tree. These lines are to distinguish records expanded on the other. We currently hold a sheet of paper to the screen to see where the files line up. Vista and XP have this site but we can't seem to find where to activate in 7. In addition, during the not overview not the navigation panel arrows indicating which files are extensible disappear. This is much more tedious and prone to error when searching for records that contain additional folders. Since we are developers (and even non-developers) but works with files consistently, it is a huge annoyance and decrease our productivity so that we need to downgrade to XP or find an alternative.

XP is perhaps what best suits you. If the Explorer is your tool of choice for managing data, 7 won't (do the lines of navigation for folders). If I were still in development, I would like to use a my SQL Server query to define data sets, but if the Explorer is your tool of choice, there is nothing wrong with the help of XP. If you have hardware for virtualization, you can install 'XP Mode' and stay with the very easy to use 7 for everything else.

  • Missing Windows Explorer icon

I have been happily using Windows 7 on this laptop for a couple of years.  I now rely on the study of the records and files (several years of IP gold accumulated in thar files) using Windows Explorer.  I also use the taskbar to pin program icons and quick start or switch windows.  About three weeks ago, I lost the browser icon in the taskbar if went to programes, accessories for re pin icon.  No entry program to explore in the folder! Weird.  So I click with the right button on the icon start and gave the "start Windows Explorer" option under the option "Properties".  Clicked on it.  Everything started off very well.  More strange!  The program works well, but there is no mention of the program on the computer and no icon.  When the program runs a degenerated icon Explorer appears and when I right click on it, it announces itself as "network photo capture centre" is not Windows Explorer.   If I pin it to the taskbar it opens a window of the Explorer, but the path of the file in the open window is ftp://BRW0022585483D2/.  I tried to restore using a restore point to solve the problem and that did not work.

Any ideas how I can recover the missing icon?  Please notify.  The laptop is a Dell Latitude e4310 with an i 7 processor 64gig of RAM and an SSD hard drive.  Installing Windows 7 OEM supplied with the laptop is Windows 7 Professional installed SP1.
