AVG later told me my firewall is disabled and there was the possibility to reactivate it and I did. After internet explore stop allowing you to enter certain sites that I wanted to enter, I ran the Diagnostics again and he told me that a firewall client has been the cause of the problem. I tried to control my firewall setting, but had that "due to a problem not identified, windows cannot display the firewall settings". • On Windows 7, how can I get more flexibility with the Windows Firewall?

  Here's the situation.

  I use a laptop for work and home. To keep the separate thing, I use two different accounts: one that opens a session in the field of work and one that connects to the computer.
  The account that connects to the local computer has administrative privileges. Yet, when I go to configure the firewall at home, I get the message "For your security, some settings are managed by your system administrator." I'm unable to enable or disable the firewall, and even less to configure protocols or specific programs.
  It is worth noting that even by connecting the computer with the account named Administrator the same problem occurs.
  Leave the domain, then by restarting allows me all access to the commands of Windows Firewall (at least, all the ones I tried), but the message remains. The problem is that I have to go through the process of joining the domain when I return to work.

  This happened to me for the first time last week.  I don't have another source to the internet at the time, so I have 'given' and ended up using the power button.  I rebooted and immediately stopped to see if it would happen again, but everything was fine.  (Knew I should have troubleshooted!) The pc seemed so far.

  I read a number of suggestions to solve problems in other posts, but they all begin with the assumption that the pc is in a State of "exploitable".

  Step # 1 is need now is my only option to turn off, forcing a stop down with the power button?

  I'm going batty at this stage.  Any guidance appreciated.

  It might be.

  I know that superantispyware does not remove itself completely as you use their uninstaller or add/remove.

  Obviously, it's one of their drivers still installed, you must remove this item and then check if you still have a problem.

  I have disabled all inbound connections in windows firewall, but not noticed any problem with my internet connection. Weird how? For example, I let Internet Explore establish outbound connections, but do not allow for it or any other service/program to receive incoming connections. But Internet Explorer still gets responses from the servers on the internet when the requesting State pages and I also get a response from the DNS server of my ISP when IE tries to resolve ips domains. • I can't get my Windows Firewall to use the recommended settings. I tried all the fixes. I am running Windows 7 ultimate x 64 and MSE.

  I had this problem for about 2 months. It started when my Dell Inspiron 580 s have been infected. Tried for several days to system clean up but could not. I took my tech, very good and reliable man, and he was even coming. He has COMPLETELY reformatted my hard drive and we have installed a new Version of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Computer works fine. I use Microsoft Security Essentials and also check with Malwarebytes. I keep all my software up to date and check DAILY.

  I have tried everything I know, and my tech guy is sick, and I can't get Windows 7 to run the recommended settings. He always tells me to update and I do, over and over again with the same result. Help, please.

  Sharing files in Windows 7 and XP

  Sharing folders between two Windows 7 machines with the new homegroup feature is an easy process, but the homegroup feature is not compatible with Vista or XP.

  First of all, make sure that both computers are members of the same workgroup which by default is named Workgroup.

  a. on the Windows 7 machine go into control panel-all items in the control panel-network and sharing Center then click on change sharing settings, advanced.

  b. you want to check the following settings under Advanced for home or work and Public profile sharing settings.

  ·         Turn on network discovery.

  ·         Printer sharing and file.

  ·         Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read write files in public folders.

   

  c. If you want any user to access public actions disable password protection.  It is located in the sharing settings advanced to the bottom of the list (protected by password sharing).

  ·         Turn off password protected sharing.

   

  d. If you want to keep it enabled, make sure that there is a newspaper account that the other XP machine and they have a password.

  e. over on your XP machine open my network places to search for the shared folder of Windows 7.

  f. double-click the shared folder to find a list of shared folders in the folder Public of Windows 7.  If you have password protection enabled you will have to type the user name and password of the user account on the windows 7 machine first.
