Windows Live Mail/Outlook Express for Windows XP 64-bit?
On my work machine, I was just upgraded from Windows XP 32 bit to 64 bit. Only now I find that Windows Live Essentials 2011 is not compatible with XP 64-bit. Is there any program I can use to access my Hotmail email on Windows XP 64-bit?
Kind regards
P.
There may be a POP client that runs on WIndows XP 64-bit. You will not be able to get to your contacts or calendar or other folders than Inbox, however. Parameters by using a POP client can be found here: http://windowslivehelp.com/solution.aspx?solutionid=a485233f-206d-491e-941b-118e45a7cf1b

How can I get my Outlook Express folders to new Windows Live Mail
my old XP computer has blown the motherboard. Hard drive is OK. Bought the new computer using Windows LIve Mail. I transferred 'My Documents' folder to the new computer. How can I get my files from the old computer to the new Windows Live Mail Outlook Express when the old computer does not work?
Assuming you have the message OE together on the new computer store, (the OE message store is hidden in XP in Documents and Settings, not my Documents), then go to the next topic. If you still have questions, continue your problem here.

Transfer of data from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail
For Messages:
Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.
Location of OE message store:
In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.
In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.
For addresses:
Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.
Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.
Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.
For the account settings:
In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new computer and WLMail desktop: tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

How to save Outlook emails and transfer on Windows Live Mail after comversion

1 create folders on an external device or partition/drive and name them OEInbox and OESent. Open Outlook Express, go to the Inbox, click a message line then press Ctrl + A to select all and drag the highlighted items in OEInbox, where they become individual .eml files. Repeat for the sent items and all other mail boxes you have.
2. open Windows Live Mail, view the Inbox and open the OEInbox folder on the registered device, select all (Ctrl + A) the items in the OEInbox folder and drag them into the Inbox of WLM. Repeat this step for the other mailboxes.

Windows outlook is rubish I want to convert to windows live mail
Windows Outlook is rubbish I want to convert to windows live mail how to do that, fed up and ready to leave it all
Unfortunately it is no longer possible. As Microsoft announced previously, Hotmail interface is gone and is no longer available. Only the Outlook interface is available. There is no return to the interface Hotmail your choices are to adapt or to leave. I'm sorry.

This is NOT an easy process.
(A) can I download Windows Live mail on my Win XP machine to migrate my e-mal address book and messages?
(B) then, after I get stuff all the Windows Live stuff I'm supposed to be able to download stuff on Win 7 and Outlook.
Copy all the files from Outlook Express dbx on the XP machine in the Win 7 machine. Also, to find the wab (address book) file and copy that. Then in Outlook try Alt | File | Options | Advanced | Export and click on the button "export". Then gives you options to import messages or address book and OE to choose it. I have not tried and it might not work, but this would be the simplest method and you wouldn't have to go through living things.
See instructions for import here: www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm for Windows Mail in Vista. Most of the provisions continue to apply, but in Outlook Import Wizard may not have the quirkiness of the Vista one. Dbx files cannot be readonly however and the folders.dbx file must be present. And copy the dbx files to a folder on the desktop on the Win7 machine so you won't not permissions with importation problems.

I'm afraid that if I upgrade the form Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail, I will lose all e-mail addresses in my address book current as well as the information contained in the files - models etc.
If you install WLMail on your XP machine, it has to import messages and addresses automatically and nothing will be lost of OE.If you like WLMail better than OE, you are a person better than I am.For specific questions from WLMail, ask here.Windows Live Mail Forum
http://windowslivehelp.com/forums.aspx?ProductID=15PS It has nothing to do with Hotmail. I don't know where Christophe that came out of your post. -
I have Microsoft Outlook. The Windows Live mail application is also on my computer.
Recently I notised an icon on my application to start and saw icon of Windows Live Mail. I clicked on and seen hundreds (of thousands) of e-mails which were identical to the mail I received on Outlook. Took forever to clean. Now, when I come back, I see that for every mail that I receive in Outlook, I get an identical in Windows Live Mail. The address is the same: * address email is removed from the privacy *. Which should I use and how would turn off the other so that's what I have to do?
is there a difference between windows live mail and hotmail? I enter ther program by clicking on windows live mail.
Windows Live Mail is a desktop client for E-mail like Outlook Express, Outlook, etc. Thinderbird. Hotmail is a Web-based e-mail program.
