  Not everything goes very well for months in fact no problem since I installed that, then all of a sudden Windows Live mail does not open. He's trying, 'Start-up', but then a box will appear which says "Windows Live Mail has stopped working" and then goes on to say that we are looking for a solution, nothing.   wlmail.fol is a tiny text giving the name of the folder. The exported messages will have filenames like 00D13E83 - 000025DF.eml. If you don't see all of the files like this, your export probably did not work properly.

  For a successful export, follow these directions:

  1. Set Windows Live Mail to work offline before starting.
  2. Create a temporary folder on your desktop * to contain the exported messages.
  3. In the Export Wizard, select the temporary folder, and then select all the folders.* *
  4. When it is complete, check that the number of files in each folder to the temporary folder is one more than the number of messages in the corresponding folder of WLMail.
  5. Copy the temporary file to its final destination.
     If you use a reader not NTFS to do this, you will see a warning that certain file properties will not be copied files. This can be ignored.

  * Windows Live Mail do not work with files that are not on a local drive, as opposed to an external or network drive. This is avoided by using the office as a temporary folder location. 
  * If you want to export the files sampled only, select each of them containing messages. Subfolders are not automatically selected by default.

  Sometimes, it works. When it doesn't, I have to drop what I'm doing and re-book my computer to make it work.

  I use Windows Live Mail with Windows 7.  From now on, when I open Windows Live Mail, it shows me offline and won't check my email.  A block appears and says, "you work in offline mode.  You want to go online now? "When I click on 'Yes', this same block keeps popping up and ask me again and again if I want to go online.  When I click on the 'Work offline' box in the lower right corner with the Red 'x', it's not going online that I interrupted the task and sometimes my calendar cannot be updated and will not continue to check emails.  Impossible to check my email.  Help, please!  And is it possible that I can disable the calendar.  The calendar appears to have started the problem thanks!

  Open Internet Explorer, and then press Alt + F to open the file menu. If work offline is selected, deselect it. If it is not selected, select it, wait a few moments and then deselect. Now check if Windows Live Mail is still offline. If this is the case, repeat the cycle to select/deselect in IE until WLMail Gets the message.

  What version of Internet Explorer is installed? In Internet Explorer, press Alt - H has to do.

  I have several accounts email for different purposes.  Recently, I've upgraded to Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail.  I entered my 5 accounts, which work well for the entry.  But when I write a new message, Windows Live refuses to choose the account which I have appointed as 'default'.  The result is that a lot of my emails bounce because the receiver does not recognize me.  HOW can I tell Windows Live to use the account that I have referred to as 'default' as my default account?

  The account being viewed will be in the field. This is by design and cannot be changed.

  Where it says 'Server', SMTP must be smtp. Make the corrections in your account settings.

  Unfortunately, this is a known issue that has yet to be resolved.  See http://www.windowslivehelp.com/thread.aspx?threadid=7cd886b5-6726-4ef8-833d-6d19819be8ec where it is attached the answer someone of Windows Live (not only a poster regular like most of us) almost exactly the same question as you - and the answer is quite recent.

  Here's another thread in the same pregnant responded with an MVP who admits that it is a bug that has yet to be resolved.  http://www.windowslivehelp.com/thread.aspx?ThreadId=c601b584-4448-4564-9702-64065e86b1d5 although this dates back to January, apparently he still is not resolved and requires the latest version of the product as well (so that they really have trouble with this code).

  Sorry it wasn't the answer you wanted to hear, but it's something that you just need to treat before iti is resolved.  I would put a bookmark on the page of main support of these links (click back until you get there) and periodically check to see if a solution has been found (or perhaps a work around).  In fact, any questions about Windows Live Mail, you would do well to post in this forum instead of here because they are much more experienced with it, aware of the problems and solutions and quite simply have more people with greater expertise on this product if you are likely to get a better response and more quickly (or even find the solution by searching on the solution and then site forums).
