Windows live messenger - should I keep installed?

original title: windows live messenger?

what I need to keep windows live messenger? don't use it - don't want it.

Hi ConnieKoplow,

It is not mandatory to keep Windows Live Messenger on your system. Windows Live Essentials program has a few different programs that may be useful, but none are required to keep. As PA Bear has stated that in the future if you had a question about it, you can go to the support for Windows Live Essentials forums.

No problem.  I re - install Windows Live Essentials again also, but I still have the problem.  I think that the root of the problem iscorrupt Windows system file s.  I think I need to re - install the operating system and build up again from scratch.  There must be an easier way, but I don't know what it could be.

  • How can I stop Windows Live Messenger issuing alerts every minutes, hours and days of the year? I don't use it.

I do not use Windows Live Messenger, but he insists on the display of alerts telling me to connect. Why it does this and how can I stop without causing problems in other areas? I know nothing about it except that the people who try to contact me (I guess) can do it without going through channels such as email or telephone.

I assume you have Windows Live Messenger, because you have installed the Windows Live Essentials.
    If so, a brief explanation...
Windows Live Essentials includes some programs that can be installed or NOT, must be installed. You can choose whoever you want.

    Now, you have 2 options...

    1. you can disable. He will remain in the system but inactive.

    2. you can purely and simply uninstall it, and it will be out of the system.

    RE: Disable Messenger
Open MSN Messenger > at the top, click on tools > click Options > column to the left, click on Sign In > straight column, uncheck all boxes > click OK done wnhen.

    RE: Uninstall Messenger

Start button > in the search box, type programs and features > press the Enter key. Scroll down to Windows Live Essentials > right click it > click on uninstall...
Follow the guests but be careful to screen > it will ask you what program to uninstall. Select Windows Live Messenger. Follow the prompts.

  • I can't get WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER to download & install.

I tried to download & install WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER on my system.  I am running WINDOWS XP (PRO) SP3, and it seems to work normally.  Download appeared initially, but after a FEW MINUTES, the green progress bar showed all 34% - and the download stopped.  I received a message telling me that the download COULD NOT CONTINUE.  (NO ERROR NUMBER, however)  The usual warnings while ensuring that I was connected to the internet, etc., were unnecessary.  I checked WINDOWS firewall settings and they seem to be configured to allow download of WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER will pass through it.  What should I do at this point?

  • I can't install Windows Live Messenger

    Hello

I uninstalled Windows Live Messenger (or MSN Messenger) other programs with the intent to sell this laptop. I have since decided to keep & tried to re - install Windows Live Messenger (or MSN Messenger). After downloading the Setup file of msn.com & it executes the screen Windows Live that rises & displays a list of the components of Windows Live that you can install, it says that the Messenger is already installed. I tried to download an old version, but it said I had a newer version installed & will have to uninstall it first. I've never had this kind of problem & am so without solutions. Can someone help me please?

  • Installing Windows Live Messenger problem (hr:0x8104000d)

    Hello world
Yesterday I installed my Windows 7 Home Premium OS using the costum install because I wanted to whipe clean my Dell Inspiron 1440 laptop. And everything works so far, except that I can't install Windows Live Messenger.

I tried to download the installer from explore.live.com essentials, microsoft.com and by using the Windows Update, but it does not install. I looked and tried to run the Windows Live installer about 6 times. And it's always the same thing. About 98% is to install the Windows Live Call, and when it reaches 100%, it cancels.

I also tried to download the Msn Messenger 7.0 and tries to update the software. For the record, I can't even use the Msn Messenger 7.0 because it says I need to update. And I can't update it because apparently I am not connected to .NET Messenger Service. I tried to test the connection, and it has failed due to an error of invalid character script. After that, I checked the advanced settings and ran tests; My TCP and HTTP Proxy connection works.

I am currently using Kaspersky Internet Security and I even checked to see if the firewall was blocking it, but the installation of Windows Live is considered a trusted software. I even tried to disable my firewall to see if it makes a difference. No luck so far.

    The error that says:
Check that you are connected to the Internet. You cannot download Windows Live programs unless you are connected to the Internet. HR:0x8104000d

I honestly do not understand. I am currently connected through a LAN network with an ethernet cable, but I also tried to unplug and connect to the internet via the WAN.

The only cause of this problem that comes to mind, it is that I had to uninstall the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility utility before I could uninstall Windows 7. But I have already run all Windows updates. Not that it makes all the difference because I was already connected to the internet.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

UH well Windows Vista OS came with my laptop and I have improved with the installation of costum (new installation) to set up my Windows 7 operating system. If everything has been wiped clean. Obviously for this reason that I don't have windows live messenger installed. If I had simply updated the operating system, all my files are remained intact. My Windows 7 operating system is 64-bit, and yes it is compatible with my computer. As I said above, everything else seems to work.

As for Kaspersky Internet Security, it is supported by Win7 64 bit.
    Reference: http://usa.kaspersky.com/products_services/internet-security.php?icid=50000028

A Norton Internet Security trial came pre-installed with my laptop, but I removed this month there are using a Norton removal tool. Not that it matters now, since I wiped clean my drive hard when I installed Windows 7.

And as for the older versions of Windows Live Messenger, I think I mentioned on my first thread I knew that they did not work. Still, trying to update an older version seemed to be a good idea since I kept not install it. However, which also did not work.

Anyway, thanks for clarifying your first answer. I'll post this same thread on the discussion Forum to see if anyone there can inspire some light in my situation.

  • To install Windows Live Messenger, you must download Windows Platform Update. But it is not available in the Panel "view available updates". How can I install it safely?

I recently reinstalled windows XP on my laptop, just reinstalled again. but when I try to reinstall windows live messnger I get this message:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Jaimie\My Documents\wlsetup - web.exe is not a valid WIN32 application.

The reason for this error is usually because the app is for windows 7 or vista.

As far as I can see the new windows messenger 2011 is setup for windows 7 and windows vista only.
