Windows Media Center 7 (64-bit) falls down for TV Set Up

We have recently installed a Ceton Infinitv Quad Tuner (and the latest updates and SW) for our Windows 7 Ultimate PC.  I followed previous forum advice and started the PC to the selective startup to isolate third-party issues, run the .net framework Cleanup tool, reinstalled the components needed .net framework (1.0, 1.1, 3.5, 3.5 SP1 and 4.0) and disabled MC Update.  None of them have worked.

I get to the settings--> TV and Media Center menu crashes or TV---> Set Up TV Signal and Media Center crashes with a message 'Media Center' stopped working.  Other than this issue Media Center works very well.

Any suggestions for how to deal with this?

Hello

You can try the following steps and check if it helps.

Method 1:

Try to uninstall and reinstall Windows Media Center:

Step 1:

Uninstall Windows Media center:

a. go to start and in the search type 'Turn Windows has or not'.

b. click on "Turn Windows features on or off".

c. find multimedia and uncheck the brand in the face of Windows Media center.

d. restart the computer

Step 2:

Reinstall Windows Media center:

a. go to start and in the search type 'Turn Windows has or not'.

b. click on "Turn Windows features on or off".

c. find the multimedia functions and place a check mark in front of Windows Media center.

d. restart the computer.

Check out the link:

Turn on or off Windows features

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-features-on-or-off

Method 2:

Also try to update driver BIOS and graphics card to the latest version. You can check the manufacturer's Web site to do the same.

Make sure you have the latest updates of Windows installed.

You can also check if you get an error in Event Viewer about what is causing the problem.

  • Windows Media Center: guide program does not update

    Hello

This is my first post here.

I hope someone can help with Windows Media Center (7) electronic programs guide. For a few weeks now, it did not update properly. We receive updates for the local HD channels only - local standard-def channels or regular cable channels.

I tried various methods to get MCUPDATE. EXE update completely the EPG, but nothing has worked. The most "promising" indication (regarding an indication as to what happens), we had, is that, sometimes, we get the error message "cannot retrieve updates (error: HeadendID [eight-digit number] is not valid.)»

I tried to contact Zap2It and they referred me to Microsoft, this is how I found myself here. The procedure for reporting a problem to the EPG is not exactly crystalline, so please bear with me if I did something wrong. (Zap2It gave me a link to https://connect.microsoft.com/site1145, but when I click on "the comments link on the left" as indicated on the page, it just brings back me to the same page).

If it helps to have this information, we are on Comcast and using a CableCARD in a Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCI - E tuner. We can watch all the channels that we subscribe to, and we can save them manually, but there is no metadata program and we do not have records of the series on cable. Please let me know what I need to do to report this to someone who is able to solve the problem.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello Barb,

I tried this (evolution of postal codes) last night, one of many new things I've done. I chose the closest city that was not ours and got a little familiar set of guides to the choice. One of them selected and downloaded - but of course the channels does not match.

We finally had success when I risked to re-run the installation of TV program; My fear was that we might have to re-pair the CableCARD everywhere again, which is a major pain as some cable company RSC have never even heard of him, and even fewer know what to do about this. So go through configuring TV was as a measure of last resort for me.

But I've learned that we can only accept the existing information of CableCARD in WMC and go on its merry way. We have completed the installation process, enter the correct zip code once again - and this time we got not only all the right-hand lanes, but also a value of 12 days of listings!

So I'll add new run TV installation for our 'Protocol' in case we ever run into this issue once again. There is great relief in our House!

  • The Windows Media Center Guide data - channels Incorrect after that provider changes Lineup

8/1, Cox left HD and SD of The BigTen Network 263/1263 channels for their new channels 109/1109 in the Fairfax area (22307). Zap2it again (24 days later) on their old channels.

WMC is based exclusively on Zap2it lists of channel in order to settle and watch the channels for CableCard card systems, indicating that there is no way to change/add channels manually. For this reason, we have no way to view the right channels until Zap2it updates the range.

I tried to contact Zap2it directly, but got no response. It is just 2 channels I know immediately, there are more than likely others also. If Zap2it change their lineups accordingly, is a way to manually manipulate the data updates and Zap2it block? If this isn't the case, Microsoft do anything to this topic?

    Hello Brad,

Thanks for the reply and we update on the State of the question. I'm sorry for the delay in response. I understand that this question is related to a bad configuration parameter between Media Center and Zap2it.

Microsoft works with suppliers of different channel to make sure that Windows Media Center is running, but in rare scenarios in one or the other setting may not work as expected.

  • "Other libraries" adding Windows Media in Windows Media Center player.

So, I am absolutely delighted by the distance streaming media in Windows Media Player. I run a guitar shop, and it was really nice to have all of my music at home, on my desk, can be played in the store. As opposed to everything I hold on my laptop.

But the thing is that I run Windows Media Center on the TV, and all of my media that are on my laptop looks fantastic up there, covers of albums and video library and everything. But the thing is that I can not add the media that I'm streaming from remote media streaming option in Windows Media Center.

I can play media in Windows Media Player, and it will appear in Windows Media Center, but without album art. And I can not play videos in Windows Media Center unless I open them manually with Windows Media Center.

So basically, I ask if it is possible to add media in my "other libraries" using option of streaming WMP remote in the library in Windows Media Center?

Thank you much for the help!

    -Tazzlyn

If I understand what you're asking, you want to be able to use Internet in WMP
streaming between two places, but with the Media Center interface? You can not
    do this.

If you are using two computers on the same HOME, inside the media network
Center interface, you can add folders to the library from another computer.

  • Windows Media Center crashes when I try to add extender

About two weeks ago (about 9/30; "I think that was a day after an MSE update), my Xbox 360 suddenly stopped recognizing my Windows Media Center PC. When I would try to set up my Extender, she would get to the first step before you give me an error "cannot set up Extender. I checked to make sure that all services were running, the firewall allowed programs through and so on, but kept getting the same error.

About a week after that, the error "Cannot set up Extender" has been replaced with an error "Windows Media Center has stopped working". It reads: "a problem caused blocking the program works correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. "He was giving me this error whenever I try to add the extension since last week.
I tried disabling my firewall, WCM via the Control Panel, delete the mcepg2 file in the eHome folder, rename the eHome folder, remove mediacenteredatastore.db, tries to connect via another user and all other solutions I found on the forums of uninstalling/reinstalling. I would greatly appreciate it someone could solve this, like many other people, because it seems that there are several issues across the internet on this error. Please let me know if I can provide more information about this error and how to give it. Thank you.

Solved: it was a problem with my router, Actiontec (Rev MI424-WR F). The description of the problem and proposed solution here worked:

  • Xbox 360 connects to Windows Media Center (Windows 7-64 bit)

I can't get my Xbox to connect to Windows Media Center.  When I ran Vista it would work, but now that I am on Windows 7, 64-bit, it just does not connect.  The strange thing is that I'm able to share media from my PC to the Xbox without fail.  In addition, Windows Media Center has detected the Xbox on the network.  But for some reason, the Xbox cannot find the Windows Media Center.  It makes no sense at all.  I even tried disabling the Windows Firewall to see if it would work, but it didn't.  There is no other firewall in my home network.  Help, please.
