Software Apple works well with apple products.

'itunes for windows' often causes a lot of problems and there is a lot of software for windows that does the same thing as itunes without the widows of problems with itunes.

Follow the steps below to see if re-register components of the media centre will help to resolve the problem.

Click on the 'Start' button > in the search box, type "Command" > right click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".

Once the prompt command opened in a high State, type the following shots entered after each line.

Regsvr32.exe atl.dll

C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehSched /unregServer

C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehSched/service

C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRecvr /unregServer

C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRecvr/service

C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRec.exe /unregServer

C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRec.exe/regserver

C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehmsas.exe /unregServer

  • If I remove windows media player windows Media Center always works

I never use windows media player but I use XP Media Center Edition 2005 to record TV programs, I have watch on a different media player.

Can I remove Media PLayer without harming the Media Center?

    Thank you very much James

You can't really uninstall Media Player from all current versions of Windows, it is a central element.  It is best to not not muck on that.  Also notes that some readers of third part depend on Media Player components working properly, ask only trouble if you muck on this.

  • Windows Media Center extender on my XBOX works initially, but not after reboot of my XBOX. Error: Failed to connect to the Xbox 360 could not connect to the windows Media Center computer.

It's VERY odd and very annoying!

I set up my laptop next to my Xbox 360 with an Ethernet cable directly connecting the laptop to the XBOX, and the laptop is on our wireless network. The XBOX has access to the internet (shared through the laptop), and when I test the PC connection and the connection XBOX Live sound fine to all.

So I'll try to set up Windows Media Center, it works great! I "Add Extender", put the code to 8 digits. It passes through the installation, all works, no problems and WMC opens on the XBOX, I can go into my library, watch movies etc... works great!

However! As soon as I turn my XBOX off and back on, it will fail to connect to the WMC.

He says his 'find Windows Media Center PC' which seems to work fine, it goes to the ' Windows Media Center loading screen "contact...". ", and after about 10 seconds, I get an error"failed to connect the Xbox 360 could not connect to windows Media Center PC. Make sure that the PC is turned on and connected to the network.

I tried to configure the Extender repeatedly, whenever it works fine until I restart the XBOX... :/ - and its strange cause I still the internet connection (shared through the laptop) after turning on the XBOX, its really JUST Media Center which is screwing around.

She continues to keep trying to connect then repeatedly fails.

If I wanted to, I could re-configuration the WMC Extender EVERY TIME turn off the Xbox, which works the first time without fault, but that's all just stupid.

I can't really understand what is happening here... any help would be appreciated.

  • Windows Media Center won't play video, but Windows Media Player will be?

I'm reading a video .avi with the xvid codec. I installed the codec earlier and it plays fine in Windows Media Player, but when I try to play in Windows Media Center, it indicates that one or more codecs are required to play this file, but they cannot be found. I know I would just watch with Windows Media Player instead of Media Center, but I want to watch it on my Media Center extension (my Xbox). I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate, 64-bit. Why does Windows Media Player with this codec and Windows Media Center not work? How can I solve this problem?

    -Slick05_1

    Hi Slick05_1,

Thanks for the replies on the forum.

Given that the Microsoft Vista Media Center and XBOX do not play the files suggest it would need to be a codec which solves the problem or maybe file conversion which would solve the problems you are experiencing.  Since the codecs for files is not something written by Microsoft, we do not have the information for that in our system.

What I suggest is to go to your search engine preferred and in the search line and typing "is possible to play VLC on XBOX.

    WARNING:

Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

What I suggest also done an online search using your favorite search engine for "play MKV files in Vista x 64 Media Center" to find whether there may be suggestions about codecs or these codecs created by other organizations then Microsoft.

Please let us know if you are able to get this to work for you.

    Best regards

  • window media center problem

I can't do all window media center to work.

    Hello

Method 1:  Open the program by clicking on start > all programs > Media Center. If you are able to open the application from here then the shortcut could have corrupted and you may need to create a new shortcut icon.

    Method 2:
You can run an auditor of the system files on your computer. This will replace the corrupted in your operating system files.
Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:
Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
Type the following command and press ENTER: sfc/scannow
The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

  • Live365 program plays more stations in Windows Media Center (the two MCE 2005 on XP and Vista Home Premium version).

When you select any Live365 station, just have a beep. Three different computers with the same problem (XP and Vista). However, all 3 have IE8 with the same default security settings. I also contacted Live365 support for the resolution and waiting for their response. Live365 is working on other media, just not Windows Media Center PC or extender readers.

Thought I'd share some good news, instead of a few problems.

A month ago, Live 365 in Windows Media Center started working again on all my computers (Vista and XP). Don't know if it's a windows update, or an update of the app live365. But whatever the fix was, thank YOU!

  • Error Application Netflix in Windows Media Center when you search

The Netflix in Windows Media Center Extender works for me but very recently the ability to search other titles give me an error dialogue box titled: text of The Application error : there is a problem with the application at this time. Try again later. Is followed by a different error dialog box: Service unavailable, text: this service is currently unavailable.

The web interface works very well. I love the interface with Media Center, but the inability to search makes it tedious. I'll have to add things in my instant queue by using a browser to be able to click on it in my queue in Media Center. Any ideas. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling as admin, and compensation on the IE cache.

  • Error: "Windows Media Center has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution. "when tried to open it after installing the KB983590 update

Original title: WMC no longer works after update of August 10

Windows Media Center has stopped working after installation of my Windows 7 Professional pc all 11 updates gave me on August 11, 2010. I used system restore to the day before the updates, and install them individually. The first 9 no trouble with WMC. But the IE8 KB982664 for Windows 7 compatibility view list caused my action center to report that I needed to check the undeclared solutions to problems. WMC would still start. But after installing KB983590 .NET framework 3.5.1 for Windows 7 x 86, WMC has stopped working.

After you uninstall update 2 above WMC would still not start.

After using the system again restore forward updates, I installed the other 9 updated with, so far, no problem with WMC.

  • Click recorded TV, it says that "Windows Media Center has stopped working, seeking resolutions... »

I'm having a problem with Windows Media Center. It starts no problem, but when I click on recorded TV, it says that "Windows Media Center has stopped working, seeking resolutions... "If I click on TV guide there is no problem. I tried a restore, but for some reason any restore function has been disabled.

(copy - paste from another thread - user has same question):

You has not, coincidentally, happens to record last Friday (I think it is?) episode of human target (what happened to be replaced by a House reruns), did you?
Reason I ask: it has been a little traffic on to thegreenbutton on the subject these days - and everyone who reported also arrived to try to save human target.  Somehow, the file finished with metadata is corrupted, what makes MC crash when you enter recorded TV (at best, it crashes when you select the program from the list.)
FIX: Open Explorer and go to C:\users\Public\Recorded TV.  Find and remove "human Target__"(exemple: «La Target_WDIVDT_2010_10_01».) ".
Start Media Center, and then try again.  Fixed?
