Windows Media Center has suddenly stopped working...

I hope someone here can help me with this little mystery. Also recently 2 days ago everything worked fine on my Vista Home Premium machine. Today, I noticed that my TV shows that I put to record have not been recorded. I went to Windows Media Center and click on watch live TV and nothing happens.  There is no error message, no tv, nothing.  I click on the button of the tv guide and he says ' n channels are available in the Guide. «Select Configure to reconfigure the guide» When I put in place, try to download latest tv Setup options, but nothing for 10 minutes about the front away from me and tap on Cancel.  When I get to the implementation of the guide, I say I want to put up the guide, then it will display the EULA and when I press "I agree" media center will be either crash and restart, or if it does not, he will pick up to... download TV program guide internet connection.  I have an internet connection... I am writing on the same machine that I have problems with... so it's not the problem.  I use it very often, so I really need to get back to work.  Please try to help me. I don't have the money to pay Microsoft for technical support.

Hi rmetz527,

To access the CBS, you need to run as administrator or connection with the default Administrator account.  Please send the newspaper here.  Also, did you try to scan for viruses and malware? It appeared that some system files are corrupt.  It is preferable to the SFC scan, malware scan, virus analysis and error checking once again in fashion without failure.

Original title: Windows Media Center has suddenly stopped being able to see tuners.

I am running Windows Media Center and have a 6 Ceton infinitv tuner connected to my network.  Since a few weeks things have worked very well.  Now suddenly after installing a faster wifi adapter, I get messages such as unable to find tuner or all tuners are busy... who don't feel like I can always go to the tuner by Explorer or chrome, by typing the address of it and it arises but also shows that it is set on the channels that I am no longer watching.  Any ideas on why WMC is suddenly acting when the only thing I did was install an a6200 netgear adapter, nothing has changed.

  • Receive the error "Windows Media Center Receiver Service stopped working and was closed" after the video card replaced

I have a HP computer with Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit) Service Pack 2.  He has a VISX PureTV tuner card and already had an NVidia GeForce 8400 graphics card.  This Setup has worked well for 2.5 years until what the graphics card died last week.  It has been replaced with an ATI Radeon HD3450 and both all Windows updates have made current.  Since that time, the TV tuner did not work.

When you sign in to an account, it gives the error message "Windows Media Center Receiver Service stopped working and was closed".  I can use Media Center to watch the recorded video before, but if I try to watch live TV he hangs up and close Media Center.  If I try to configure the TV connection in Media Center it tells me that there is no tuner card.

I looked at the map and see no problem and I tried it back in place.  He has the most up to date drivers (so does the new Radeon graphics btw).  I tried "Uninstall" in the Manager of devices and then put it back, but it was not good.

"Windows Media Center Receiver Service Stopped Working and was closed" I tried all the fixes I've seen this error.

I tried all the things I saw here and elsewhere related to this issue.  I did a "clean boot" with all non-Windows services and the disabled startup process.  He always did the same thing and gave the same mistakes.  It seems to be linked to a Windows service, and I hesitate to begin deactivation to track down.

I ran 'sfc' in mode 'cmd' and he found no problem and none of the files to be fixed or could not fix.

In the list of services, I changed the login for "Windows Media Center Receiver Service" to "Local System account", Local Service, Network Service and individual accounts, but no permits.

I'm afraid I'm at the point of having to reload the Vista, but I don't know how to do this and want to avoid at all costs.  I don't have the recovery disks and software.  Is this enough?  Can I reinstall from the recovery disks without wiping everything aft of the configuratiion with which it was delivered?  I guess personal files will be OK (although I don't know this for sure), but I'm afraid I'll have to reinstall other applications, my family has developed over time and perhaps lose the media protected by DRM licenses.

Someone has encountered anything like this or have any suggestions?

Well, I finally stumbled into the solution.  It was caused by a conflict with another application.

A few weeks before the card failure I had installed a program called video capture Replay Video Capture that I had bought a few months ago and never used.  However, at this time where everything including the TV tuner and Media Center worked well that's why I associate the problem with this software.  The problem comes after the system is rebooted the first time after installation.  In my case, it has not been rebooted until a few weeks later as part of the recovery of the fault of the graphics card.  Suddenly, the TV tuner did not work and I get the error messages mentioned in this title of the thread.

I was at the end of my rope with this and was just to clean your system to do a reformat and reinstallation.  I uninstalled the Replay Videa Capture program to move it to another computer, and when you restart the computer I noticed that the error message disappeared.  Of course I went to the Media Center and could set up my TV tuner card and watch television.

Looking for some info on this conflict, I found the following. (http://forum.applian.com//showthread.php?847-Conflicts-between-RVC-and-XP-Media-Center-OS&s=c0aec9897b51d550c47b919e73e59bfc)  It is difficult to say who is at fault in the present.  I'm sure that Microsoft accuses Applian for the encoder to mpeg (mcm2ve.ax) used in Replay Video Capture, while Applian says that the problem is a Windows process (ehrec.exe) that works all the time, hogging the tuner on the system device.  According to Applian other products similar to theirs have this conflict as well due to the process of Windows.

Fortunately, there is a solution in this case.  Applian has released a new version of Replay Video Capture (version 4.2) that uses a different mpeg encoder and eliminates the problem.  Given the surprising lack of info about it on the Microsoft Web site, I wonder how many other people with this unresolved issue dealing with the same thing as me.  If you're like me and you don't usually need to reboot your PC for a few weeks at a time, you may never know to associate the problem with the application.  What a waste countless hours trying to diagnose, and most disconcerting, that's what I was about to go through a reformat and reinstall because of this.

Thought I'd post here my problem resolution in the hope that it might help someone else.

System was working fine 1 day and then bam... error messages began to appear.  I can always go into Media Center and listen to music or watch recorded shows.  I just can't watch TV or record something again.   I checked the Device Manager - material and everything works fine. • Error: "Windows Media Center has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution. "when tried to open it after installing the KB983590 update

Original title: WMC no longer works after update of August 10

Windows Media Center has stopped working after installation of my Windows 7 Professional pc all 11 updates gave me on August 11, 2010. I used system restore to the day before the updates, and install them individually. The first 9 no trouble with WMC. But the IE8 KB982664 for Windows 7 compatibility view list caused my action center to report that I needed to check the undeclared solutions to problems. WMC would still start. But after installing KB983590 .NET framework 3.5.1 for Windows 7 x 86, WMC has stopped working.

After you uninstall update 2 above WMC would still not start.

After using the system again restore forward updates, I installed the other 9 updated with, so far, no problem with WMC.

New installation of Windows 7 Pro.

V.1.0.1963.0 MSE completely up to date. [have not installed the latest beta version due to this problem]

Former pilot Mig15. Now using Windows 7 Professional and Project Professional 2010 Beta.

    Hi Davy-D,

Step 1: Perform the upgrade on the spot
    a. close all applications, insert the DVD into the DVD drive of the computer.
    b. in the settings window, click install now.
    c. click go online to get the latest updates for installation (recommended).
    d. type the CD key if you are prompted to do so.
    e. click Yes to accept the Microsoft software license agreement.
    f. on the type of installation do you want? screen, click upgrade.
    g. when the installation is complete, restart your computer and check the difference.

See Method 2 of this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958044/en-us

Very Important: Run a repair installation will not damage files and applications that are currently installed on your computer. However we recommend that you back up data, performing the steps incorrectly can delete data.

Ive been using Windows 7 for about 6 months now with on any trouble until recently my DVD drive has suddenly stopped working. Windows detects the drive but when I double click on it in my computer it says please insert disc. I find the drive in Device Manager and windows recognises that there is an error that says:

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might be installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or maybe it's a malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

I tried to uninstall the drivers in Manager device and rebooted the computer to let auto windows find the driver and reinstall it but to start, I get a message that says:

    Device not installed driver software

I know that the drive is fine because it works fine in Ubuntu Linux system he worked great in windows 7, so stopped. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Go to the Web site of the factory, download the driver appropriate for your device. Uninstall the driver that is currently installed and uninstall the device in Device Manager. Reboot... After you restart, you have 1 of 2 options depending on how the software is packed from the manufacturing. (A) put an end to the automatic Windows installation feature and use the downloaded software to take care of it for you... If that's how it is set up to operate or (b) wait for windows to auto-trouvez and try to install the device, and when he asked the pilots to open and extract files downloaded to any location you choose and point the installer of windows in this direction.
