  Original title: HELP HELP HELP!

  I accidentally put windows media center as my default to open everything.  now, I can not open downloads and have a lot of difficulties to open anything.  When I try, I get a message saying windows media center windows media center or windows media player cannot open the file.  I tried the reboot when u start mode safe mode but when I got to turn windows features on or off the coast, I couldn't open.  I'm not computer savvy so I'm going crazy because this has happened for a week.  PLEASE please someone take pity on me and help me.

  b. click Add a digital TV channel.
  c. type the name of the missing channel, and then click Next.
  d. Enter the number of the missing channel, and then click Next.

• Why is there no online media tab in my Windows Media Center?

  I had never used Windows Media Center until I saw a video of a person using a console Xbox 360 as an Extender so I got interested and downloaded the Media Center and added my Xbox as an Extender. Then I noticed on several videos other users with a "Online media" tab right on the 'Sports' tab and above the 'Tasks' tab However, this is not the case on my Windows Media Center on my PC or my Xbox 360. I did a lot of research trying to find a solution and made a "Auto fix" download as well as in numerous trouble shooting research and reinstall nothing doesn't. I noticed a few other forums on this subject, but they all just claim that it does not appear on their Xbox and so the question never gets answered. The problem is not with the Xbox, but it's with the Media Center because the way in which it does not appear on the PC either. I use Windows 7 also. Help, please!

  Make sure that you have configured the Windows Media Center.

  Follow the steps to access the Internet via Windows Media Center:

  a. click Start, and type Windows Media Center

  b. open Windows Media Center

  c. in Windows Media Center, click tasks

  d. click settings

  e. click on General

  f. click Windows Media Center Setup

  g. click set up Internet connection

  h. now follow the wizard to set up Internet via Windows Media Center.

  I recently bought a 10th G40 and I was wondering how to set up dual Tv Tuner in Windows media Center to watch and record the Tv at the same time.
  I tried to download the new driver from the Toshiba download page, but it seems to make no difference that Media Center does not give me the ability to configure 2 tuners.

  So in my opinion, you cannot record TV and watch another channel at the same time using only the internal TV tuner.

• Windows Media Center 7 (64-bit) falls down for TV Set Up

  We have recently installed a Ceton Infinitv Quad Tuner (and the latest updates and SW) for our Windows 7 Ultimate PC.  I followed previous forum advice and started the PC to the selective startup to isolate third-party issues, run the .net framework Cleanup tool, reinstalled the components needed .net framework (1.0, 1.1, 3.5, 3.5 SP1 and 4.0) and disabled MC Update.  None of them have worked.

  I get to the settings--> TV and Media Center menu crashes or TV---> Set Up TV Signal and Media Center crashes with a message 'Media Center' stopped working.  Other than this issue Media Center works very well.

  Any suggestions for how to deal with this?

  Try to uninstall and reinstall Windows Media Center:

  a. go to start and in the search type 'Turn Windows has or not'.

  b. click on "Turn Windows features on or off".

  c. find multimedia and uncheck the brand in the face of Windows Media center.

  Make sure you have the latest updates of Windows installed.

  You can also check if you get an error in Event Viewer about what is causing the problem.

  I have problems to display live TV via Windows Media Center (version 6.0.6001.18254).  My apartment block still has an analogue ariel so I reinstalled the TV through a decoder DTT channels.  Media Center has implemented a TV Guide including only BBC 1 and 2, 1 of ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.  TV Guide is visible in access, but live TV does not work.   I have an internal TV Tuner that has been installed by HP, when I bought recently a "computer build-your-own." (According to the control panel Device Manager, my tuner is a Win TV HVR 1290, made by Hauppauge). The computer came with Windows 7. While installing Windows Media Center, after setting up the TV Signal (on channel 3) I am able to see a video thumbnail on my computer screen. I am also able to change the channel using my remote control U-Verse (not the Windows remote control supplied with the computer). So far so good! I then hit next and get the following message: "Windows Media Center cannot detect the IR control cables, which are necessary to control the set-top box. Fixing parts IR that supports the IR control cables and then try again. IR HARDWARE NOT FOUND ".  After you receive this message, the installation procedure is completed. I called HP that support intalled the tuner. They had not the slightest idea what to do. I then called Hauppage customer (manufacturer of TV Tuner). They said that I need to plug one end of the IR Blaster cable that shipped with the computer in a slot in the back of my computer (they told me which slot). They said so to run the IR all the way cable to my cable box and the other end of the cable to my cable box of band. They said it was necessary to be able to use my Microsoft Remote to instruct the box to change channels (cable IR stuck on the box). I told her that I did not use the Microsoft Remote, I could change the channel with my U-verse remote (that I preferred to use anyway). He said that it took the cable on the band decoder in order to remove the error message and the installation of Windows Media Center. I then called U-Verse technical adapter who informed me of their set-top boxes (made by Cisco Systems) do not have the ability to receive signals IR IR Blaster cable (or any othe IR signal source). Microsoft is apparently not understand how U-Verse set-top boxes are designed to work and sells a product incompatible remote control/IR. My question is this: How do I set up Windows Media Center, in order to avoid getting the error message "IR hardware not detected" when you install Windows Media Center and just use the remote control of the U-Verse that I prefer to use in the first place. Once understand you this point, please send the information to HP, At & T U-Verse and others. Thank you.

  Hi, I had the time of IR not detected in Windows 7 Ultimate with a TV wonder 650 card and a box of digital adapter from Verizon for my PC... Go on the road to installation and after the Media Center channel search, choose manual configuration. Choose the aerial signal (I aso picked after this analog) l. After he sought more, he finds no channels.  Do not be afraid. Just accept it and go to the main settings page in the Mediacenter. If I remember correctly, then select TV Guide. Choose Add channel. I added the channel 3.

  Since my Verizon box has no IR for the computer, I added the channel 3 for the media Center and I change the channels with my Verizon remote. All my stations in the Verizon box go to Channel 3.

  The story here is so, for some reason any Windows detects that only my box channel signal TV and you must manually configure the media center on the air, then go to settings and add the channel you want in the guide.

  Why the guide TV control which channel you can tune is beyond me, but the scanner locks all channels, it does not detect. they must be added manually in the guide.

  My TV works and looks okay now.

• Windows Media Center cannot sync/set up with AT & T UVERSE

  Windows Media Center cannot configure/sync with my cable TV box. ((See system put in place/info below)

  I spent about 10 hours trying to solve this problem.  Tried every way Windows Media Center allows you to configure, automatic, manual (tried all listed codes), IR remote learning. I searched the web, talked with HP technical support for more than 3 hours, talked with Motorola, ATT UVERSE, someone seems to have a solution.  Based on troubleshooting, I have it so far, I'm a 90 + % sure it's soley configuration of Windows Media Center TV of UVERSE problem of decoder.

  I can get a TV signal on the computer through Windows Media Center and get my cable TV box to make it work, but it's as close as possible. The remote control works, all connections are correct, IR blaster or transponder is located correctly on my TV receiver.

  In the IR remote control learn installation manual configuration (I think this is one of the two) or Windows Media Center asks you to press and hold the "0" on your remote decoder, pointing to your receiver IR from PC.  When I press on it it seems to answer by saying to continue to hold then it ask you to release what I'm doing, then I get an error message.  It is the closest, I learned to operate.  I tried a few tricks/variations on this that I found on this site and others, but not luck.

  Another question the image that I get, but cannot control with Windows Media Center is of very poor quality (worse than a bad cell phone video on youtube), I guess that's more hardware related issue, but I had a machine good enough speced. Also, there is a time delay major and variable (4-5 seconds) between the time you press a button on the decoder TV and you see the answer on the machine, which makes it very difficult to operate.

  I keep trying to stay on the PC band wagon, but of course, the other side seems to be much less difficult to get simple things to work.

  Anyadvice is appreciated.

  the post titled "hey guys" posted August 8, 2009 should help out you. I managed to set up my own using the info there. Poor quality looks like a standard old school SD tuner in your pc.

• Windows Media Center didn't recognize Cisco/ATT Uverse Set top Box remote

  With Windows 7 Media Center throughout the TV Setup Wizard, everything works until the screen of the decoder.  Automatic set-top box set up does not work.  Through the screen to identify my decoder does not work.  There is not an option for Cisco (there are 361 other).  It seems that Cisco should be on this list.

  Using the function "learning" remote does not work either.  Media Centre telling me that it does not recognize the remote.

  I have a HP m8034n pc with a tuner Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 NTSC/ATSC Combo.  The pc came with Vista and Windows media center worked great just with the tv tuner.  I upgraded to Windows 7, December 2 and fail to put in place my tv with WMC tuner.  The recorded shows that I had before the upgrade to Windows 7 appear and play without problem in WMC. I used the hardware diagnostic tool that is installed on my pc to control the Tuner, and during the test, I can see fine TV stations.  This unit is compatible according to microsoft Windows 7. I have the latest driver and tried to uninstall and reinstall. I ran Windows Update and everything is up-to-date. After that WMC checks tuners, it says:

  Analog cable (1 Tuner)

  Other tuners or TV signals were detected but will not be configured.
  (Show details)

  Is this Setup correct and complete?

  I don't know what happened, I left my PC off overnight and planned reformatting today. But I decided to give him another chance. Instead of saying the tuner was not available. He showed me a static snow image strong, as he was trying to use my Analogue tuner. In fact, it is supposed to use the composite input for my cable box. I re set my TV signals, and now everything works well again. Its strange because I reboot half a dozen times last night and it's never worked. Leaving the PC turned off for the night must have done the trick, I guess.

  When you configure channels I get the message 'no downloadable guide found.

  The tuner works and the signal from the antenna is fine as I can implement my Arcsoft media program and watch live TV from there.

  Media Center has worked in windows 7, before the upgrade to windows 8

  Somehow, I solved the problem.

  I ran the installer again.

  I jumped the channel configuration part (where you put the post code)

  I ran the TV signal configuration and it searched and found channels.
