I tried, but the video does not play smoothly.  Is this fix really?

There is a possibility that Windows Media Player could

  • Windows Media Center won't add DVD files to its library which do not affect the disk C on Vista

    Hi people,

I had Media Center works well with more than 104 GB of movies in the library.

I ran out of disk space and a 1.5 TB drive was added to the system.

Once this new space has been initialized, I moved all film to him records and updated the path in Media Center to 'Look' that new folder.

Media Center can no longer see or read these films.

I deleted all the files associated with the WMP 11 app (APPDATA\Local\Microsoft\Media player to rebuild the DB but no difference.

Does anyone know how to activate the Library Media Center pull in DVD files outside the C drive?

    Thank you
    Derek

    Holy Cow,

I just found the answer in an article at www.paraesthesia.com/archive/2008/09/12/how-to-set-up-a-dvd-library-in-windows-media.aspx

The library 'Add folder' does not work in the Menu 'Settings' of Media Center.

On the other hand, it works via a right click on the window of DVD library.

IE: when you're in the Livrary DVD, right-click and choose Add movies.

This is a bug not documented in Media Center!

    Hello

This could be due to problems with Windows Media Player database might be corrupted.

You did the changes for the Windows Media Player settings or files associated with it before this problem?

As with any database, the information that is stored in the database or the database itself can be damaged. The Windows Media Player library database can usually recover automatically from the database. However, the database may be corrupted in such a way that Windows Media Player is unable to recover the database.

I suggest you to rebuild the database and check if it solves the problem for you. Follow the steps:

    Method 1:

    You can follow the steps:

    (a) press simultaneously the Windows and R. box, type the following command and press ENTER:

    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Media Player

(b), select all the files in the folder, and then click delete in the menu file.

Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    (c) restart the Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Check if you are able to add files to the list of add-in player. If this is not the case, proceed to the next method.

    Method 2:

Follow the steps to solve the problem:

    (a) press Windows and R key together. Type the following command and press enter:

    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Media Player

    (b) select the Media Player folder, and then click delete on the File menu.

    (c) restart the Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

For reference, you can check this link:

Please let us know about the results. We will be happy to help you further.

  • Windows DVD Maker won't add files.

I am running Windows 7. I made several DVD using Windows DVD creation without problem. Now, suddenly, no reason I can detect, it began to refuse to add files (first screen). It will not add files in any format - no .avi, .wmv. not, no matter what--but some files, in the same formats, it can still add. Files, it is impossible to add are more recent than those he can for the most part, but there is no other difference between the files other than dates they were created on. When I try to add a file, either via the button "Add files" or drag-and - drop, there is no error message is displayed. the program just hangs. I have converted the files in many and varied types and can not find any variation that works. As there is no error message displayed, I have no idea what is wrong. I already tried to solve the problem by turning off other video filters in the Compatibility tab, nothing helps. I also saw that Windows is all updated and otherwise functioning properly. I've been struggling with this problem for almost a week now. Any help would be most appreciated, thank you.

So, thank you very much for all your advice detailed and useful. I'm afraid that I don't know if this has solved my problem, because I have not even taken the penalty try to apply again. Instead I downloaded Freemake, used to burn my DVDs, and it has worked flawlessly. In fact, it fit more on my drive that Windows DVD Maker has never, which was an added bonus to one side. I am so thrilled to have this problem, if not solved (because I don't bother to see if I could), and then resolutely avoided. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

    Hello

You need a Codec to play in WMP or Apple QuickTime or VLC.

Start - type in the search box-> Winver find upstairs and double click on - check version

You need Codec - get these if 32-bit

-Free - CCCP also get free tool of insurgents

Or try these: download - SAVE - go to the place where your put them RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN.

For 32-bit use these - OR those listed above that I prefer.

    K - Lite Codec Pack 5.0.5 & K-Lite Codec Pack 5.0.5 update

    Use them for 64-bit:

  • Windows Media Player - how to add files to existing playlist

    Separated from this thread.

They do not speak a playlist of "unregistered". They mean that they already have a saved playlist and want to add, where the term "existing reading list." I'm having the same problem, and it's a real pain. I just want to add some songs more to a list that I've saved, but it let me just remove or create a new playlist. It wont let me not just drag the new songs on the list, which would be just way too easy, I guess. This is totally ridiculous.

    Jessi - hi...

You should definitely be able to add new songs to an existing selection. I guess that you are talking to a WMP playlist you are and in Windows 7, as with the original post?

It may be you just not enough go about it good sense... for example have you tried selecting a song you want to add, then right - click on it? You should see the option "add to" and when you hover over which another box showing your playlists - you can make the selection from there. You should also be able to drag and drop in an existing list, but for this it must be open in the "now playing" pane on the right - click here to read the list you want to add to... then you can navigate back to the track that you want to add and drag it through. You will be prompted to "save changes" when you leave.

    I hope this helps... R.

Just an idea that might be worth a try...

  • Windows Media Player: How to compile files individual mp3 on a CD?

I have several songs on my computer of several artists.  I want to do a CD customized to save on Windows Media Player, NOT a CD I want to burn and NOT a playlist.  I want to have my music organized in a particular way which is not possible during the extraction of my music.  What is the process to take songs from different artists already on my computer and the creation of a brand new CD (not a playlist) which will be recorded as well as my other CD?

-The only thing you want to avoid is to mess up your Windows Media Library. I keep a folder 'temp music' on an external drive to do this kind of work, but you should be OK create a 'Documents' folder if you do not have an alternative...

Create a folder with the title of your choice (I'll stick with "No Regrets" as was the example in my screenshot) - then select the mp3s you want and copy to this folder. The next steps must not be done in a particular order, but it helps to have some sort of routine so that you won't miss anything.

    1) renumber files in your order of preference - this may be done on the existing file name or in the tab "general" properties... I prefer the first option, just because it's simpler. In my example Bowie Rock' don't Roll Suicide change from being 11 RocknRoll etc. to be 01 R & R etc. (not to mention zero!)

    2) change the 'properties'... right click Select 'Properties' - tab "Details". First step is to go through each track and insert the "new" track number you chose - in my screenshot below "Come Undone", which was followed 6 on his original album is now 4 Tr (no zero here though!).

    3) bulk modify the other 'properties' - 'details' - "Album Artist" should become "Various Artists" (or just different if you prefer) and under 'The Album' change the title (for example ' No Regrets'). You can do it in a judgment by highlighting all the tracks and selecting 'Properties' 'details' - when completed, click on 'apply' and 'OK '...

Optional steps (red mark) while making the big changes - I want to set one date just to keep it tidy, but little matter... I also gave my albums comp. "compilation" kind (it is not in the option list - just type it SE) advantage being that you can mix play of 'gender' view in WMP without getting duplicate titles (I also Hits albums re-kind artists 'Best Of... ("for the same reason), but still, it is not essential. -Visual aid...

Before transferring the file in your best music library check in WMP "Organize" on the tabs 'player' 'library' and 'private life' all access to the internet to update media are denied if not he could cancel your hard work!

Check through, and when you are happy, that you have all the exact details, you can paste it into the "Various Artists" folder in your music library (in my library, I have a folder 'Custom' for things like this but Various Artists is just fine)

Album Art  In case you not did that before... Select an image (angular) click on 'copy', and then you can stick on 'album' in wmp display - just click on the square and click Paste (nb you will see only the "paste" option when you click 'copy' on an image!)

PS I borrow all the info above to web pages or tutorials - it's just that I worked on myself over time if this cannot be an 'official' method, but it works well for me!

I hope this helps you get the result! -Greetings - Ric

The original question was that I didn't include some subfolders, but I did find a way to exclude subfolders, so I tried to hide folders and files.

Windows Media Center also detects hidden files.
