Windows Media Player allows to convert audio formats DLNA player needs?
I have DLNA devices with different media file format. It reads only WMA audio files. Another MP3 and WMA. My music is in MP3 or M4A format. Is there a way I can get Windows Media Player to convert the files that it broadcasts to formats compatible with the devices it serves?

========================================
During extraction of a CD with Windows Media Player, you can
Choose MP3, WMA or WAV, but I don't think that WMP can
make a simple conversion from one format to another.
Based on your description I think that would be a solution
be all that convert you files to WMA.
There are to many converters available on the net...
Some are free - some details... the following freeware
is but one example. :
(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)

Freemake - Free Audio Converter

(Windows XP / Vista / 7)
(* Read * all * the installation screens... it)
may be a few items you want to unmark *)
When you have installed Freemake... Open Freemake
and drag and drop your files music on the main screen.
Or... Click left on the Audio button, then navigate to the
your audio files are saved in the folder.
Select (highlight) the files you want to import into
Freemake and left, click on the button 'open '.
When your music files are imported into Freemake,
On the left, click on the WMA icon at the bottom of the screen.
The "Output settings" screen opens. Choose
' Save in ' file so you can find the converted files.
On the left, click the "Convert" button and the files must be
converted very quickly.
That should do it...

Windows Media Player is not any plugin. Maybe you can try to Expression Encoder.

The files have already been burned on a DVD and therefore cannot be converted. However, you can download and install third-party codecs to play .m2ts files.

Windows Media Player run only audio for all formats
When you try to play any video in Windows Media Player (WMP), all that is shown is a square picture frame and audio playback. The video never plays. Sorts with MP4, MPG, MOV and other formats. All have the same behavior. Tried to uninstall and reinstall the component of Windows Media Player, but it did not help. An image of the player showing what he does is attached. Any help/suggestions are appreciated!
Shot in the dark guess would be if you have not reinstalled your graphics drivers since the upgrade/return that could represent an attempt.

Original title: cannot get audio from video .3g2 (Windows 7)
I have a number of videos that were recorded on a Motorola phone to format .3g2, when I played against them in windows XP Pro using what was the most recent media player, they played very well and the audio was present.
I've since upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate and have found that videos will play with media player sound is not output.
I tried different players like VLC (same result, no sound) and came across one called SUPER from erightsoft which indeed works and allows me to re - encode to .wmv BUT when I do and you try to read the .wmv I encounter an error:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player does not support the format you are trying to play. »
When I clikc on help, I am led to a page with links on THIS forum.
So here I am.
Can someone explain what is happening, why it happens and how / if I can convert them into a playable (with audio) .wmv friendly format?
Thank you
Hi UbinTook,
You found this message from Windows Media Player due to one of the following reasons.a. you try to play a file that is not supported by the player.
b. you are trying to play a file that the player does not support, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.Step 1:Confirm that you are trying to play a supported file type. My music files have changed in wma format in windows media player, and now my mp3 player won't play them. can anyone help please.
original title: Media PlayerDownload and install WMA to MP3 Converter, then install it, you can get it here... http://www.WMA-MP3.org/
Then select all the WMA files you want to convert, and then convert them to the MP3 Format. The reason why they are WMA is because when you ripped the files on the disc to your pc, by default, Windows Media Player is configured to save in the Windows Media Audio (WMA) Format. This default can be changed by opening Media Player and click on Tools > OptionsThen select the Rip music tabFormat: select MP3 from the drop-down list.Click apply and OK.Now the next time you rip a CD on your drive hard it will be automatically saved as an MP3 file. -
I have a mpeg file played ok before the download Flash Player to move to another place; but now the audio wont play even if the video plays very well. The mpeg file may was converted from another format mpeg before do me.
Hello
1. are you able to play the other mpegs successfully?
2. what version of Windows Media Player do you use?I suspect that the file is corrupted.
Method 1.
Check if you can play the same video in a different media player.Method 2.
You may need to check if the codecs work very well to play the file. Check if you have installed third party codecs. Uninstall them and re - install and then check.I hope this helps.
