Windows Media Player cannot read a lack of Codecs video error.

Original title: Help with Windows 7 Media Player

I'm not a computer genius and therefore will probably asked a question that has already been asked and answered. My concern is with my Windows 7 Media Player I have on my HP all-in-one. My friend sent me some video clips of his cell phone, I then forwarded to my email account. Then I downloaded them to my file to download. When I tried to play in thse clips, WMP hesitated and told me because of what we call "codecs" or a file format that WMP has not recognized, videos could be played.  So should I upgrade my WMP or find something else that plays the video to cell phone? Thank you.

Hi Tronarail,

Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community!

You have reached the right forum. Let us work as a team and try to solve this problem.

If I understand correctly, you are unable to play the video file on Windows Media Player 12.

Please answer this question, in order to better understand the issue:

What is the file format of the videos?

  • Windows media player cannot read CDs and DVDs

MS supports says my Player DVD is dead and needs a new drive. So, I just install a new ROM DVD and still have the same problem - cannot read CDs and DVDs.

When I play the CD, I always get the error meessage--(lecteur Windows media a rencontré une erreur lors de la lecture de lecteur de CD en mode numérique...). 'Digital' is selected under the tool-> properties-> device.

When I play DVD, it is frozen my laptop or keep spinning and froze the Windows Explorer and the reader.

I was able to read DVDs and CDs once after a few restart. During playback of CD the WMP abruptly stopped with error message and since that time cannot play CD DVD & more.

So far, I did a few fixs that I found online and nothing wroks:

    * No upperfilter or UpperFilter registry

    * Uninstall and let the laptop automatically reinstall the driver

    * Ms. Fix it gives different results every time I run the fix-(1) detects no problem and therefore no patches have been applied (2) the main media in the CD drive is not readable (same CD has played correctly when using external USB DVD rom)

Can someone help and let me know what that could be the problem and how to fix it! Thank you!

  • Windows media player cannot read my compilation of Director of windows

I did a film of three short films and I wanted to play in windows media player, but it doesn't seem to work! who can give me some advice about this?

The error that you received indicates that one or more
your source files are not compatible with the film
Manufacturer or are corrupt. It happens frequently when
MPEG video files are used, but this can happen with
    other formats also.

    See the following article:

Movie Maker 2 - Import MPEG files
    http://www.Papajohn.org/mm2-importing-video-MPEG2.html

Several formats are apparently compatible with
Movie Maker, but the most reliable choices are:

    Photos - bmp
    Video - wmv
    Audio - wav, wma, wmv

The solution is to convert the video clips of the. WMV
format before you import into Movie Maker.

There are many converters available on the net... some
    free... some detail.

The following freeware converter is just one example:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Format Factory (freeware)
    http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Format_Factory
(the 'direct link' is faster download)
(the file you want to download is: > FFSetup295.zip<>
    (FWIW... installation..., you can uncheck
('all' boxes on the final screens)
    (Windows XP / Vista / 7)

First, you will need to decompress the file or just open the
    Drag > FFSetup295.exe< out="" of="" the="">
and drop it on your desktop. To install left click.

Next, after the download and installation of Format
Factory... you can open the program and
left click on the toolbar, the "Option" button and
"Select an output folder to" / apply / OK.
(this is where you find your files after they)
    are converted)

Drag and drop your video clips on the main screen...

Select "all to WMV" / OK...

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

    That should do it...

    Good luck...

    · What is the email client or webmail you are using?

    · What is the attachment file extension?

    · How do you open the attachment?

    · Is it by double-clicking or you choose open with option.

    a. save the attachment to the office,

    b. right-click on the file and select open with the option to open the attachment according to their file extension.

Example: If the .docx file extension, then it is word document or .pdf, it's Adobe.

You can get the extension of a file by right clicking on the file and go to properties
