Windows Media Player permission to run under Vista 64-bit

How to change the setting for a specific program so that it will run under Vista 64-bit without asking permission every time as the permission?  For some reason any of all the pre-installed software that came with my computer, only Windows Media Player asks me permission every time I try to run it from the desktop icon.

Remove icons from desktop and quicklaunch and created new file programs.  Problem solved.

Thank you

After ALL the above if necessary to reregister the Jscript.dll and Vbscript.dll files.

Start - type in the search box - find command top - RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN

  • My windows media player 7 is running in compatibility windows 95 instead of 7

    Original title: Media Player compatibility

My windows 7 media player is running in compatibility windows 95 instead of 7. is it right for player 12.0?

If his job very well then ok because compatibility is just to give the application to an environment in which it can work, but it is not necessary to activate the compatibility and select any version of Windows, because the reader already supports most of the formats.

  • Windows media player is not running

daughter got on media player and now it is as it has opened far too much and it not turns not right... is there a way to restore it to how it was or clean

Your daughter may be innocent here... (well let's give him the benefit of the doubt!)

There are some Windows updates in recent days while I should try a restore of the system first, go back to a restore point created before the problem started.

If you need any indication on it let know us... and if she doesn't do the trick, we will try something else.

You can turn off the automatic updates temporarily from the Panel, otherwise the problem may restore before you have had the opportunity to verify its success (or not), but don't forget to turn it back on them at some point.

Let us know how it goes. R

  • Windows Media Player 11 Graphic Equalizer causes Vista audio problems. ___

When I insert a CD to play, it seems fine. However, when I tear on the hard drive, when I play it, it sounds horrible. The sound fades in and out when I apply the settings of the equalizer, but yet again, this does not happen when played directly from the CD.  I tried to update the drivers, but it does not help. Any rip format I use, or audio quality I use, this is the case. I tried 4 different suppliers: eMachines, Dell, HP, and Compact. The same problem exists. I even tried different sound cards without success. This would lead me to believe that this is a problem with WMP 11, himself.

Does anyone have a solution to the problem?

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi Karthik,

The problem started when I switched from XP to Vista. WMP never worked properly on any Vista machine I've tried from different suppliers.

I found a resolution. I use Itunes instead. It doesn't have the same question.

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

    Best regards

    Sean

  • HP pavilion Dv4 running under Vista 64-bit

I just connected and saw that my desktop icons are of two different sizes. Some are standard size, I know well, and some are much larger and overlap size stardard. Why some icons on my desktop are much larger than others to login?

    Hello @dm4tt ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that the icons on your desktop are of different sizes.

You can set all the icons of the same size in right click on an empty spot on your desktop and choosing View > by selecting large, medium, or classic. It should be resized all at the same size, that Vista has no support for icons of different sizes without adding non-Vista software.

You can also hold CTRL on your keyboard while scrolling your mouse wheel to resize the desktop icons.

Try and reboot your system to make sure that it does not return.

Let me know if it works!

  • Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7 stops working after recovery from sleep mode

I have problems to make Windows Media Player 12 to run correctly after a system sleep (standby). It works very well after the maximum boot and for as long that the machine is not going mode sleep. It is only a problem with Windows 7 and Media player 12. All other Win 7 applications seem to work correctly. The system also works very well for Vista/Media player 11.

I installed my upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 as a new installation on a separate hard drive. This problem exists right after installation - no other software not added. I then installed all the updates MS available and the problem has not disappeared. I installed the OS a couple of times (including a copy of Windows 7 Professional x 64) on another hard drive too and the problem remains.

Media Player 12 works perfectly until the system goes into sleep mode - either by itself, or manually. When it resumes, Media player launches, but when you try to play something, he will only play the first couple notes of music and then freeze. Same thing with videos - it will get the first couple of frames played, and then hang. If you continue to stop and restart Media Player, eventually it will be totally suspended and after a few minutes the error "Server execution failed" message. At that point in the Task Manager, wmplayer.exe will consume is a complete base my Quad CPU (25%), do nothing. Sometimes, you can kill the process and take control of the back of the PC. Other times it crashes completely and the only thing you can do is to shut down the PC.

Media Player 11 under Vista Home Premium x 64 on the same PC works fine. I was never able to get Media Player 12 in Windows 7 to work properly after a standby/on standby. If I reboot, everything works fine so it seems to be that something related to a problem of sleep/recovery.

HP supports suggested restarting the service WMP network sharing.  That has not helped, but if I stopped and set to manual start, Media Player would play the sound/music but not video of several tests.  But if I stopped and began to WMP 12 a few times more the problem returns.

Well after working with the help of HP for several days, it seems to be something between the video card and card mother / BIOS between them.  At start-up, everything works well, but after the exit mode ensures, hardware diagnostics show a failure of local video memory.  Media Player is finally touched by it.  Doesn't a lot of sense to me that this does not happen under Vista, Win 7.  You have to return the PC to HP for diagnosis/repair.
