Windows Media Player-ripped audio files are duplicated

Windows media player

Hello I just got itunes and started buying music burn a disc, and then rip to my player.every media thing worked fine then. I started to rip music more and something went badly wrong all my ripped CD doubled each song on each cd and now all the cd Ripper double each track twice please help im crazy thank you ray russo

I suggest that you try to reset the media library. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

-Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service. If its status is started, double-click on the service and click on stop.
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, delete the folder Media Player. If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists.

  • Windows Media Player 12 (WMP 12) are not saving the data in the library

Hi all, been having a few problems with WMP 12, because I reinstalled Win7 enterprise following an upgrade of the processor (from AMD to Intel, had to reinstall).  Since that I had two problems, both probably originate in the same root.  Everytime I open WMP I see "There is no data in your library", until it scans the hard drive for files.  It's true that if I let this scan for 30 minutes, then turn off and on.  He simply has no information, period.  Secondly, when it filled with information, it mentions two copies of each song.

My personal theory is that it could be caused by an old cache of WMP log are stored somewhere on the PC.  Perhaps WINDOWS.old?  Please keep in mind it was a reinstall of W7 W7 E E again.  Theories, ideas or legal remedies will be appreciated.  The problem seems localized to WMP, my libraries (pictures, videos, etc.) and everything seems to be intact however.

I tried to change the location of the file, only to have WMP search folders for some and a few other things (disabling, allowing streaming media, for example) are stored within my installation of W7 HD and another HD in the same machine.

    Hi SRedX,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers community.

Try to manually add files to Windows media player and see if the problem still occurs.

    Method 1:

This problem may be due to database corruption.  You can delete the Windows Media Player database and check if the problem persists.

Steps to clear the database of windows media player:

    1. exit Windows Media Player.
    2. click on start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.
    3. Select all the files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

Note You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    4. restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. exit Windows Media Player.
    2. If you are using Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft and then click OK.

If you are running Windows Vista, click Start, click Run, type % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft and then click OK.

    3. Select the Media Player folder, and then click on Delete on the file menu.
    4. restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

  • Windows Media Player RIP cd even if rip auto is set to NEVER

I have problems with Media player 11 on Vista Home Premium, I insert a cd it goes to tab extract and starts to rip automatically everytime, I was through the options and under rip auto selected NEVER... no effect, I tried ONLY WHEN IN RIP TAB, still no effect. This wouldn't be a problem if wanted to copy each cd, in that I put, but I have a few compilations I want only one or two songs in.

    Hello Aspire4920,

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft answers Forum.

The problem you see is that whenever you insert a CD, automatically, he goes to the tab out and starts to tear.

Check your AutoPlay options. To do this, go to start, click on Control Panel,
Click on AutoPlay. AutoPlay lets you choose what happens when you insert different types of media or device
    in your computer.

If you insert an Audio CD, you can choose from the following options:

    • Play an audio CD with Windows Media Player
    • Rip CDs of music using Windows Media Center
    • Play an audio CD with Windows Media Center
    • Open the folder to view files using windows explore
    • Take no action
    • Ask me every time

Somehow your system seems to have the ability to rip music.
Please change the option for what you want in the list. Close Auto Play and open Windows Media Player and see if it is now
    Choose the correct option.

If please reply back and let us know if this suggestion has helped to solve your problem or if you need further assistance.

    Sincerely,

  • Open Firefox Windows Media Player for video files

I need to make Firefox to open the actual Windows Media Player application (not a plugin, the window real app) when clicking on video links, for example, WMV. These file types are already associated in Windows Explorer with WMPlayer, but this has no effect on Firefox.

What happens now is that, after you have clicked on a video, I get a screen black with yellow icon of VLC Player (VideoLAN VLC installed on my PC) in the Center and no video. I don't want to launch VLC or internal plug-ins.

You can change the type of application opens for each kind of type in Firefox options.

    • > Options > Applications > (example) SWF file > select everything on the right side (e.g. use of ShockWave Flash for Firefox > Set another use, find Windows Media Player)

  • Windows Media Player - no audio during video playback

    Windows media player

I am running Windows XP.  Windows Media Player opens successfully, I have audio but not video.  I tried to reinstall, update etc.  Still nothing.

    Hi jeffwebs,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

2 when was the last time it was working fine?

    3. you receive an error message during playback of video files?

    4. What if the problem occurs with all video files read using Windows media player?

It is likely that the codec is correct / encoder is not installed or is installed but has been corrupted by another program.

A codec is a software to compress or decompress a digital media file, such as a song or a video. Windows Media Player and other programs use codecs to play and create digital media files.

A codec can consist of two components: an encoder and a decoder. The encoder performs the compression function (coding) and the decoder performs the decompression function (decoding). Some codecs include both components and some codecs only one of them.

Follow the steps listed in the section below to download codecs for this problem.

You receive a codec error message or play audio but video does not play when you play media files in Windows Media Player 11

I am trying to add music to video, that I created on Windows Media Player... When I select the song in my Itunes list it says file not found.  Don't know why he is here... somewhere!  Any tips?

Because Windows Media Player cannot create videos I have
assume that you are talking about Windows Movie Maker.

Try to browse to your music folder and see if you can
Add a music file to your project. If you have problems
You may need to convert the music file to the. WMA
    format before importing.

  • I want Windows media player to play files V.O.B

I have a vista running dell 530 s. I download my movies dvd - r is home to my hard drive. Media Player won't play them. I would like to get Media Player to read. POWER DVD DX will play discs when the discs are in the draw, but I can't get my computer to use POWER DVD DX for them to play from the hard drive. My computer will ask me to choose a program from the list I want to use to run read the V.O.B. file but Power DVD DX is not on the list and I can't it on the list.  Can someone give me an answer? IM no computer. Thank you very much. John

If you want to just play individual. VOB files... try renaming
glue them in. MPG and you can play them with Windows Media
Drive. If you want to read the DVD as he plays in a DVD player...
    See the following...

First, you copy the DVD VIDEO_TS folder
in a folder on your hard drive.

If Windows Media Player will play regular DVD... you could
Open it and go... File / open... Navigate to the VIDEO_TS
folder and when you open it, select all the files inside the...
(Ctrl + A should select all files) with all selected files...
Click on the button 'Open' and the DVD is expected to launch in Windows
    Media Player.

    Also... as an alternative...

If you download and install the free VLC Media Player...
You can click right a VIDEO_TS folder, then in the menu...
choose... 'Play with VLC Media Player '.

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)
