• Can not log on to Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials

  Hi all. I have a big problem. I am running Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials. I wanted to disable UAC, and for this I changed "EnableLUA" from 1 to 0 in the registry editor. I restarted the computer and when I log in with my admin account, it is said that the user, or the password is incorrect. But it's impossible! Any ideea? Thank you!

  Is it possible to get Windows Media Player 11 or 12 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials, because I have a few videos that I want to watch from the server. I searched on the Microsoft Web site to see if I can download Windows Media Player 11 or 12, but it doesn't seem to work... but is it possible?

  In addition, older versions of Windows Media Player would work for Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials if you provide links. It would be great to try!

  I am considering upgrading to MS Server 2012 R2 Essentials for my music on Hold server.  Winamp is currently used as a multimedia player resident.  Is there a reason, it cannot be installed and run in the same way as Windows server 2012 R2 Essentials?

• Cost of upgrading Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials

  I recently purchased Windows Server 2012 Essentials for use as a small home server.  I have not yet installed the software yet since Server 2012 R2 Essentials will be published shortly.  I do agree with Microsoft Software Assurance (SA) because it is unaffordable for my use case.

  Is it really true that there will be absolutely no discount 2012 Essentials to the 2012 R2 Essentials Server server upgrade?  In other words, if I want to use R2, I lost only $425 on the previous version?

  I'm perfectly willing to pay for the new features, but if this is actually true, it probably is the straw that will break all the time about my relationship with Microsoft.  First Windows 8, forcing me to Microsoft of viscerally uncomfortable mold UI 'Modern' (I went back to Windows 7 like everyone else), then Windows 8.1 that does nothing to address my concerns and now the news that the piece remaining of the Microsoft software that is actually good is unaffordable - it's just too.

  I sincerely hope that this information is incorrect, and there will be a path to a reasonable level for customers like me who cannot afford SA and cannot afford another $500 on the server software.  Honestly, if this is the case I will consider seriously to switch to Linux.

  Please tell me that there was a mistake.  I hope that we are not at an impasse in our 30-year relationship, Microsoft...

• RDP Windows Server 2012 r2 print of the VIP

  Hi, I hope you will all understand and can help me with this.

  I have 2 users who has a problem with the printing of the RDP of our server.

  It is with the Windows test page, and the main problem comes from VIP.

  When you print a windows test page show page that he has been put on hold, as well as the VIP, but nothing happens, the local PC, this works.

  If you have purchased the license Windows Server 2012, then you have also a serial key.
  You must use this key for activation.

  Victory 8 regarding:

  I configured correctly (I think) a new computer that is running Windows Server 2012 R2 Foundation.  I would like to

  understand and carry out the steps or a link that will tell me how to make this machine available on the network.  The server is

  on a LAN connection and everyone in the office should be able to go in Solution Explorer and see the machine in network.  They

  currently impossible.

  Once they can see and double-click it, then the dialog box should come and ask for credentials.  I have the user ID

  and the password in place.  I just need to be able to get on the server.  Can someone, please, please help me go beyond this challenge?

• Install OfficeJet Pro 8610 on Windows Server 2012

  I'm trying to install the drivers for a Pro OfficeJet 8610 on a system running Windows Server 2012. I installed the drivers from here (after choosing Windows 2012 for the operating system): http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Officejet-Pro-8610-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/53...

  First of all, I tried to install using the GUI (Setup.exe) but ran into an error indicating that the operating system was not compatible.

  I did some research and discovered that these drivers must be installed by using the command line and the command msiexec.exe. I tried to do it by using the following command-line (with administrator privileges): msiexec.exe /i PATHTOMSI

  However, when I do that, it gives me ALWAYS an error of incompatible operating system. Don't know what to do here.

  I ended up soliving this problem myself while tinkering around.

  I went through the process of adding a new printer through the devices window and printers.

  I said my printer was not listend so opted to manually configure a printer. I have created a new local port and he just called the name of the printer. He then invited for drivers. I chose the disc and then navigated to the folder where I had extracted the printer drivers. Selected this file and the drivers installed.

  This example gets the drivers installed in the system. Windows should then automatically recognize/install the printer if it is plugged.

  Mind you, I had to do that only for printing on a desktop connection remote. If you need the real HP software installed to print AND scan, this will not work for this.
